    The Last Real Cowboy
Another great story by Donna Alward. This is the first in her Cadence Creek Cowboys series. I read several of the others not realizing they had a prequel. This was as good as everything else she's written. Donna has a nice way of getting you to know her characters and feeling their real emotions. I love her strong heroines and tough heroes who aren't afraid to become a bit softer to fight for the women they love. The rural setting adds to the atmosphere making for a feel good book. I've come to discover you can't go wrong with Donna Alward.
This one comes with a bonus story. Can't wait to read that one too.
    Grand Duo
I was disappointed at first when I learned there were two books in one. Then, I read the first, "Last Real..." and it was fantastic. So, I thought, I'll "try reading" the second book, "Rancher's Runaway..." Can you believe, two books that were good enough to have purchased either or both individually? You absolutely can't go wrong with this combo. Characters are superb again. Plot is different in both and no character is duplicated even though could have been fun --- maybe! Buy it! Read it!
    Two great stories!
they both challenge snap judgements and encourage deeper relationships.
THE LAST REAL COWBOY: I loved this story and I can't wait to read about Ty!
THE RANCHERS RUNAWAY PRINCESS: it was a slower beginning than I'm used to but it was done brilliantly. I expected the ending to feel rushed but it didn't.
warning: I cried reading both of theses stories! a good cry but a cry none the less
Two outstanding life stories in one book
Both stories were full of real life situations that gave way to every emotion from chuckling to laughter to liking the characters to feeling their real love for one another. Even a few tears added to make it one of best books I have read in a long time.
    Fun read
I enjoyed these two stories. It was light hearted which I like sometimes. My mind can just relax with this type of story.

    Enjoyable read
I found the characters of Blaine and Kaylee very real. Their life together ended years ago but when she comes home they want to start up where they left off but the murder of her father gets in the way. You see, Blaine is a policeman and she is the number one suspect.
The story of their times past and what Kaylee has done since then kept me interested throughout. The memories they both have of better times are the under current of the book. Will they ever be able to reconnect? I'm not a spoiler so I won't tell. You won't have to wait long if you get this book because it makes you turn the page faster and faster. I found this an enjoyable read on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
    5 stars!
I can't get enough of Ms. Talty's books lately! The plots feel fresh and the characters are dynamic. I really liked the premise of this book, and the pacing was right on. I love second chance romances, and this one had a fun twist. Can't wait for more from this author!
Read if you love romance with suspense!
I love books that have a series. These books by Jen Talty are likely based together but can really be read desperately. I love a book with suspense a goof amount of romance thrown in...Jen keeps you guessing as you are watching this love story unfold! Love love love
    Moving on
What an enjoyable story. Lot's of suspense, mystery, and of course romance. Can you repeat history? Running never solves anything, and this is what the story is about. But it is also about communication, understanding each other. I've read a lot of Jen Talty's books and I have enjoyed them all.
    Enthralling Read
A real puzzle or is to several puzzles? A very nice read with many loose ends that came together nicely.

    flat, tedious, predictable
while not an awful book, neither was it good. There was very little description, and what there was was fery perfunctory and dry. The conversations were formal, using no slang or idioms, in other words not the way people talk. You are never given a clear idea of what the heroine looks like. Since she's hung up on her weight, it's kind of germaine to the plot! Is she a size 12 or a size 20? I wanted to know! There is a pretty laughable drug smuggling plot point, and no one seems to have a cell phone, much less a computer. The story seems to have a contempory setting, so some technology would be expected. The hero loves the heroine, but why? Just because of the way she looks? This is a very simple, VERY chaste love story, and it would be suitable for those who don't want sex in their stories, young teens, or a more mature tween. I had hoped for more passion, and much more depth and character development. I doubt I'll read any more by this author.

    Not quite there
I like the BBW stories but this one was not fully developed. Why does the hero love the main character? Why does the main character agree to a marriage of convenience when there are other options in modern times. The villain was not fully explained either. I liked both the male and female leads but I wish the story was more fully developed. I found myself skipping paragraphs.
Dry, series of events without the emotion
I am reading many books with full-figured heroines and stumbled across this book.
It is a dull and dry telling of a series of events. It failed in stirring up any emotions really.
I got the feeling it is the telling of one of those TV movies that want to be all emotional, but the story line is lacking in true suspense.
    It was okay
Really the story had potential. Unfortunately it never reached it. Most of the scenarios are just plain ridiculous. Especially the leads and their interaction about divorce and all that. And more so with the villain. I mean, Really come on. Quite silly.
    If this man exists...
As long as Pat Ballard keeps writing, I'll keep looking forward to reading her books. Even though she writes outside of my normal genre of reading (thriller), I put all other books down when there is one of hers to read. I recommend you do the same.
This book arrived in my P.O.Box the day I was leaving on vacation. Between the flights to and from Baltimore, I devoured this book.

    Good read :-)
    a "Can't put down read!"
I love Heather Graham! I could not put this book down either, refering to A Customer's review. I have read a lot of her books twice. Craig is a great hero! Blair is a tricky heroine. This a a reprint from the early 1980's so it is a bit dated at times but I think that adds to its charm. Just read it and enjoy.

Heather Graham is terrific. I love all her books. It is so hard for me to put her books down until I am finished. Her charactrs are so compelling.
    Meh
I want to start off by saying I'm a huge Heather Graham fan. I've been reading her books for years. I was really happy to receive this as a free copy in exchange for an honest review. Then, I started reading. I kept trying to figure out if it was a re-release of a book. Craig talked about being in 'Nam, he and Blair smoked cigarettes, and he was described as looking like Tom Selleck. I'm also confused about the book having an interlude.
I semi-liked Blair and Craig. It has the makings of a great love story. Her father wants her "rescued" before something happens. Craig is the one sent to bring her back. Of course there will be bad guys. I like that she was a widow and processed her relationship with her husband. I like that he wasn't an arse. I didn't like that someone who hid from the press and kept secrets herself was so suspicious of why another person wanting to hide out and volunteer for a bit. I didn't like that Craig had to punch her when she wouldn't cooperate. I mean really? He's a spy and specially trained. He didn't have a shot to give her? Nothing to pour onto a handkerchief to knock her out? It had to be a punch?
I don't want to give away more of the story. It's a well-written book and well-edited. I just felt kinda "meh" about the whole thing and feel like it isn't her best work. To be honest, it's the first Heather Graham book I've read that I haven't finished and don't plan to finish.
    Early Work from Heather Graham
*Copy provided by Netgalley for an unbiased review.*
This is an 80's romance (1983, to be precise) and it reads like one (including the title!). It's one of Graham's first books, which probably explains some of the confusing bits in the beginning (messages back & forth between the "hero" and his boss concerning his new assignment). Once it gets going, it isn't awful if you're old enough to put yourself back in that 80's mindset. For younger readers, it might be a bit more difficult to swallow some of what goes on in the story. Our hero is hunky, our heroine is all kinds of lovely.

    Members Reviews:
    Different is Good
This latest of the Wilinski's series offers a different kind of romance that I found refreshing, interesting, and compelling. Steff is an unusual heroine, not only by virtue of her profession, (which I found really cool, especially since she wasn't just all talk) but by virtue of her approach towards romance. She takes a practical view of things, and, even though she is pretty instantly attracted to Patrick, she resists because of monetary concerns - he's hurting financially, and she's looking to settle down with someone for the long haul. Such considerations might polarize some people, but I appreciated how it brought legitimate concerns to the idea of a relationship, issues that had to be confronted and worked through. Steph has a really nice character arc throughout the book. Her relationship with Patrcik isn't an easy one, with Patrick pursuing and Steph resisting the whole way. But I liked that it wasn't easy, that Steph was unconventional and three dimensional. Sure some people might call her a money grubbing witch for wanting to avoid penury, for not instantly being bowled over by the hero's super powered pheromones, but me I'm not so quick to judge. She was upfront with Patrick from the beginning. They both knew the score, but ultimately, could never seem to stay away from each other. (One critique though, plotwise: I didn't like that the things that brought them together initially were a series of coincidences that seemed kind of forced. But the book is kind of short, so the author didn't really have much room to finesse.)
As for Patrick himself, he's one of the more appealing heroes I've come across. What a great guy : ) Just all around decent, hard working, and gosh darn cute. And so head over heels for the heroine. (Ok, you could also read him as desperate, but who doesn't like their heroes a little - er a lot - obsessed?) I was rooting for him the whole way. Not only was their chemistry hot, but their rapport convinced me that they fundamentally liked each other too. My only real complaint is that, after working so hard for the happily ever after, we don't really get to glimpse that happily ever after for ourselves. This is the kind of romance where an epilogue really is essential - usually I find them annoying, cheesy fillers that detract from the book as a whole. But in this case, some more concrete illustration that these two worked it out could have been packaged nicely in an epilogue of some sort.

    Compelling Performance, Interesting Story
What made the experience of listening to A Valentine Wedding the most enjoyable?
I was transported back in time to the period. The many different characters were brought to life in a way that enhanced the story making it both compelling and entertaining.
What did you like best about this story?
The historical element and the relationship between Emma and Alasdair was interesting- not your typical romantic heroine/hero. Their past history was very intriguing and the sexual tension was wonderfully tangible.
What does Gemma Dawson bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She is a FAB narrator! Many of the characters had foreign accents and some were masquerading undercover and adopting different nationalities- which could have been confusing, but she made them all very clear. She nailed the cheeky sexual tension between Emma/Alasdair. I very much enjoy her performances.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It was a little slow to start but then picked up and progressed nicely.
Terrific! I really loved listening to this book.
What did you like most about A Valentine Wedding?
I loved listening to this racy, romantic and thrilling novel. It was everything I look for in terms of story and characters. Devine!
