Twenty-five-year-old Laurie Meadows brushed her long, auburn hair back impatiently from her heart-shaped face. She was running late for her job as a charge nurse in the men's rehab unit at Wellesley rehabilitation center.
Her twins, Billy and Brenda, had given her some hard time again today when she dropped them off at the sitter's house on her way to work. She'd lost 15 minutes trying to reason with them. The sitter assured her that her kids would be off happily playing with the other kids by the time she pulled into Wellesley's parking lot 10 minutes away....

    Loved it!
Loved it! I read these out of order, not that it really matters at all. Great story and characters just like the next 2 books! Hot and funny scenes. Along with the ups and downs. Great series!
    Three Stars
good read just not my favorite
Loved Dalton, but Cass? Not So Much.
This was my first experience with Harlequin Blaze, and I have to say, as an erotica author (under this name) and a literary author, I brought along some prejudicesâtwo, for instance: (1) It wouldn't be hot (read: erotic) enough and (2) it wouldn't be well-written. I was totally wrong on both fronts. Kelli Ireland is a completely compelling writer, and I'll be first to admit she hooked me to this story. I literally HAD to find out what happened next. What more could I ask for in a novel this size?
But here are my issues, if I may: I had real issue with Cassidy's character, who I tried and tried and tried to warm to, but no. She was tough as nails in the beginning, but then emotionally collapsed toward the end. In fact, I'm *kinda* sure that she'll stay together with big ol' hunk Dalton/Eric, but then again...she wavered so much that I'm not entirely certain. Yes, I *want* them to stay togetherâI was invested in these characters enough to want them happyâbut I didn't trust Cass. Her personality/emotional state was too much of a roller coaster for me to believe in her characterâto even believe in HER.
Dalton/Eric was the perfect knight in shining armorâevery person's fantasy date/fantasy stripper. He was *far* more likable than Cass, even though he had quite a bit of cliche in him.
There were a couple characters that were glossed over that I believed could have used some filling out: Cass' father and his lap dog Marcus. Cass' unresolved issues with these two characters left me unsatisfied.
But, all this said, if you want a fun, quick read and can stomach a bit of a confused, sometimes frustrating female main character, have at this!
    fun heated frolic

O, she is rich in beauty
Season hits the nail on the head with this one. By far this is my favorite of her books. I couldn't put this down. Taylor is the perfect angry, beautiful, rich girl. Levi is the perfect angry, handsome, wrong side of the tracks guy. I felt their intensity like I was in the room with them! Great read!
4.5 stars for this page turner!
I know when I pick up a book written by Season Vining it's going to be good. Her writing is consistent and always engaging. She manages to infuse intensity into words that evoke lasting emotion. I know I'm going to shed at least a few tears while reading but I'm alright with that. It just means I connected with the characters and story.
Perfect Betrayal is the story of Taylor and Levi. They're an unlikely couple. Taylor is used to getting what she wants except from her parents and Levi didn't have much growing up but had a lot of love. The two however have this attraction to each other that defies logic and understanding. Taylor knows she's leaving at the end of summer and Levi has an agenda he can't risk jeopardizing. The two of them had this chemistry that just wouldn't quit. It was like any time the two of them were within ten feet of each other I was eagerly watching to see if they'd rip each other's clothes off.
It was really something watching them go back and forth. Both were determined to get what they wanted even if the one chink in Levi's plan was his attraction to Taylor. I liked how once they got past their words to one another they were able to see who they really were, even if they weren't able to vocalize it. The two of them really connected when it came to their bodies but they found it so difficult to connect outside of that. I didn't like when they hurt each other using words, especially when they did it knowingly to protect themselves. For someone who liked control I admired how often Taylor put herself out there. She had just as much as Levi to lose but she was willing to follow her heart and feelings.
This book is about more than just the games Taylor and Levi play with each other. There are many games at play here. It seemed like almost everyone had an agenda or two. The story has some crazy twists. I was able to predict a few, but for the most part all of my guesses were wrong. I think I was surprised by how much. Another surprise was how sensitive I was to Taylor's emotional pain. I really did not like her parents and there were moments when I didn't like Taylor and Levi's friends. I did love all of the poetry in this book.

    All for you(shore secrets book2)
Very enjoyable story, the girls are full of spunk and the guys are handsome and just as sexy as their counterparts. They are a closeout group with a little town full of good people just as close.
    Wonderful!
Another great read from Christi Barth. I got hooked on her Aisle Bound series, and now this one is just as wonderful. Can't wait for the next one!
    An old fashioned seduction...with heat
    Quick summary
Casey Hobbes is a state park forest ranger, pretty and only interested in casual relationships. When she rescues writer and professor Zane Buchanan after his poorly prepared dive into Lake Seneca, her resolve is shaken to her core. And, he thinks he's stumbled onto the one. He's not interested in casual so he sets out to win Casey with romance.
    A bit of background
Casey has a secret past that only a few people know about and a relationship with Zane poses a serious threat. He's the one person who could expose her past and break her heart.
    What I enjoyed
The romance! Both were used to breezy encounters, fun but without emotional commitment. Zane astutely knew he had to approach Casey differently and I was treated to an old fashioned seduction. Make no mistake, though. He brought the heat. I also was intrigued to learn exactly what happened to her 17 years ago and the details unfolded slowly, but interestingly, throughout the story. It was always in the background and added edge.
    The bottom line
I not only liked the storyline and the two main characters but also the inclusion of those from the first book in the series. Their roles were substantive, not just updates. The core group of friends, a beloved staple in Christi's books, add even more allure. If that's not enough, there's a secondary, mature romance brewing. Everything just worked.
(I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review)
a series I fell in love with in the previous book and my love continued ...
All For You is the second book in author Christi Barthâs Shore Secrets series, a series I fell in love with in the previous book and my love continued with this next installment.

DO NOT read this book if you have rape triggers!
Let's have a little discussion about this book. We won't talk about the poor writing and thin plot. Or the author's inability to keep the brother's names straight. Or the glaring lack of anything that resembles proof reading. Instead, let's talk about the rape.
See, Aurora (hereafter known as Girl) sleeps with Bro 1. Afterwards he treats her like crap and she tosses him out. But the next day, he decides he's entitled to some more jollies, but Girl says no. Bro 1 doesn't like this though, so he gags her, ties her up, and proceeds to rape her. This is not my judgement here, the line in the book is "Aurora burst into tears and Alan moaned as he proceeded to rape her." Bro 2 (The good bro!) pulls Bro 1 off mid rape. No one, Girl, Boy 2, Other Passing Female Character, feel the need to do or say anything about the rape. And well, that's it. By the next day, Girl is knocking boots with Boy 2, while trying to get Rapist Bro 1 out of jail. THE NEXT DAY. No one has issues with her being raped, least of all her. At the end of the "story", Rapist Bro 1 and his new finance show up at a party that Girl and Bro 2 are having/hosting, and ALL IS TOTALLY COOL. No anger. No emotional scarring. No remorse. No growth. Just "she got raped, no big". What the ever-loving HELL? So please... save yourself. Don't read this. I dearly wish I hadn't.
    Sweet but predictable
The cover caught my eye. But it didn't really seem to represent the story.
The story. A sweet love story except for ***SPOILER ALERT****
The rape scene was unexpected and not needed. It took away from the story for me.
I enjoyed the way Adrian and Aurora's story evolved. I love strong, smart, driven women who don't rely on a man.

What a fantastically HOT, quick, funny and touching story about a blind date turned hook-up turned love story!!
Cosmo Red-Hot Reads does it again! What a fantastically HOT, quick, funny and touching story about a blind date turned hook-up turned love story!!
This was a first read for me of a Heidi Rice book but I had a feeling I would LOVE her when she referred to Channing Tatum and Chris Hemsworth in her 'Dear Reader' opening to 10 Rules to Sex Up a Blind Date. I can assure you she did NOT disappoint and I will be seeking out more of her work ASAP! I enjoyed her use of everyday vernacular and the references to topics that are relevant today. I immediately clicked with Tally. Loved all her snarky wounded dialogue and yet desperateness was coming from her in waves. Ms Rice made me root for Tally and the hopes that she would find a way to forgive herself!
And HOLY HOT alpha-hole, Brent, who's not really an alpha-hole, he's just protecting his own battered and tattered heart. Good thing he saw past the walls that Tally has spent 2 years building... and the means he goes through to make her see the real her and the real him will melt your heart... and your panties!
Best lines: "Hot," Tally qualified quickly. "I'd like him hot." If she was going to avail Sam of his services, she might as well get the deluxe package. "That would be my second stipulation. After straight." She didn't give a sh*t if that made her sound shallow. This was Project Get Laid, not Project Get a Life Partner.
    Grade A
    Fun Sexy Novella!
This was a fun sexy read! Tally and Brent definitely had sexual chemistry together as they are setup on a date courtesy of Tally's last blind date who turned out to be gay. The sex scenes are steamy, but also have some tender moments that surprise both Tally and Brent, making a one night stand no longer the only thing on the table. For a novella there was enough character development and setup to engage the reader and make the situation believable. Being a fan of twitter I quite enjoyed the tweets between the chapters, as Tally's side hobby of tweeting about her blind dates is a key part of the story. Of course there has to be some conflict and this was well done and led to a great conclusion. Very enjoyable and entertaining story. 4 stars.
    Great Fun
This one might make me reconsider blind dates. Heidi Rice delivers with this well written novella. It's written with humor and with an eye toward romance. The passion factor is high and the love scenes are sensual and placed well within the story.

    Five Stars
    Great beach read!
    Unlikeable Characters
This book was well and truly terrible. The main character, Amanda is extremely unlikeable. Her trip to Hawaii revolves around seducing her friend Alan, even though she knows he is into their mutual friend (and the affection is returned!). Instead of being a halfway decent friend and helping them hook up, she tries to take him for herself. Except, lo and behold, her ex, Jeremy, is also on the island thanks to her meddling mother.
To be honest, I didn't get further than about 20% in the book. The characters were pretty terrible and I couldn't bring myself to like any of them. I won't be reading anything from this author in the future.
Delphine Dryden gives us another HOT yummy read!! Grab it up!
This book takes place at the same time as Delphine Drydenâs Mai Tai for Two, so it was different and cool to see the overlap in scenes and see things from different perspectives. I enjoyed this story a little more than the first and the only thing I can attribute that to is the acknowledged chemistry between Amanda and Jeremy... it was almost like Julie and Alan (from Mai Tai) had spent so many yrs denying the attraction I almost didn't see it either (in book 1)...
The humor that DD has in her books was present in this one as well, ' "He told you about his experience with venereal disease, so you slept with him? Seems logical." In bizzaro land. Where she was evidently vacationing.'
I was a little surprised that we didn't get a total wrap up for the whole Washington vs. California debate but I can see the HEA for the trees on this one! I agree with another review on GR that I would loved to have seen an epilogue at this end of this one with combined conclusions for both couples. Maybe that's something that Ms. Dryden can offer her loyal fans as a freebie on her website... hint hint...
She has plans to seduce a co-worker Alan who may or may not have the hots for her best friend (book one guys
So I tend to read stuff even when I have issues with the series. While this particular book is not part of a series of interconnected books it is part of Cosmo Red Hot Reads which I have a love/hate relationship with currently. The stories tend to be way too short to justify the ending and the price is a little high for such a story. I've said it all before and I've meant it. This one was a prime example of my issues with the series.
So Amanda gets to go along for an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii which may or may not have been paid for by her mother (seriously I'm still not sure).

    Emotionally Brilliant
Kristen Mazzola's, "Falling Back Down" is the first book in her Crashing Down series. It is a story of a young widow, Mags McManus, who is trying to cope with the loss of her husband Randy. She has an amazing support system- his family, her friends, and Walker, who is his best friend. They seem to bond over their grieving and with much guilt and apprehension Mags discovers she's in love with him. OMG, what an emotional read! But I loved it all. You really feel for Mags having to deal with loss, love, and guilt at such young age. Kristen has done an amazing job with "Crashing Back Down", which ends with a major cliffhanger so I am waiting for book two with bated breath... Lol! I haven't cried this much reading a book before reading this one, but you feel to emotionally connected with Mags. That's the work of an amazing author. I loved this book and recommend to all. She's deserving of this 5 star review.
Liked the story because of Walker and not so much Mags
3.5-4 stars. Mags met her future husband Randy while she was in college. Unfortunately, Randy dies while on a military mission after being married for only 2 months and Mags is left to grieve his loss. The one person who keeps coming around to check on her his Randy's best friend, Walker. It's obvious right from the beginning that Walker is a great friend and doesn't give up on Mags. He's got a reputation for not wanting to settle down by not having any serious relationships and keeps his upbringing and family life private.
Mags' suffering is relatable and real. She isn't thinking about moving on or trying to be happy with Randy gone. Walker misses him a lot, too, and together, through their shared mutual loss, Mags and Walker become best friends. There's an interesting story in here, but I struggled a little bit with Mags because she did a lot of pushing and pulling with Walker and it seemed like she was stringing him along.
As for Walker, there's more than meets the eye. He's clearly got a tortured past and is hiding something, aside from his feelings for Mags. I liked how he was there for Mags no matter what and waited patiently for her. However, given Walker's personality, I was surprised by how frequently he'd have tears in his eyes not related to Randy's death, but due to Mags rejecting him. The whole story is in Mags' POV so by the end, there's a little snippet that gives more insight to Walker and because he's still a mystery to me, I'm interested to learn more about him and why he made the decisions that he did that led to the circumstances that have transpired in the present day.
    Pleasantly Intrigued
This is the debut novel of Kristen Hope Mazzola and Crashing Back Down has sat on my TBR list for some time. I finally got to read it and I was pleasantly surprised by the content and story line.

    Witty, heartfelt, and fun
This was my first audiobook, but not my first Amy Spalding book. I didn't realize she narrated the book when I downloaded it - it was PERFECT! I loved the story: Riley and Reid's hilarious banter combined with their separate searches for love perfectly. I laughed the entire time at the turns of phrase and turns of plot. I listened while driving to and from work and was incredibly annoyed that I had to get out of the car (and sometimes I didn't.) There's also an insider's view of Los Angeles, awesome music references (is there an online playlist??) and lots of kissing, of course!! And the kissing scenes are hot! Highly recommend! Spalding is one of my favorite YA writers, and I can wait for her next audiobook!

    Publisher's Summary:
Can newfound love survive the ravages of modern warfare in the land of the Queen of Sheba?
Twenty-something Ceseli Larson is mourning the recent death of her cherished father. His passing comes as she prepares to undertake a planned but harrowing expedition to the lost ruins of Axum. Axum, capital of an ancient kingdom and the possible resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, was also once the famous home of the Queen of Sheba. Ceseli hopes to uncover its long-forgotten archaeological mysteries.
What she does not count on, though, is that Benito Mussolini's invasion of Ethiopia looms on the horizon, about to be unleashed, sending an already dangerous journey into chaos. Nor does she expect the feeling she discovers for a young Italian doctor, nor the romance that blossoms between them.
Love in the Land of Barefoot Soldiers is a sweeping tale of romance and war, as Ceseli is caught between the movements of empires and her growing love for a member of the invading army. History and the destruction of the modern era collide in this exciting drama.

    Wonderful story
This is a historically accurate novel, with only the principal characters being fictional. It is well written, well read and ends happily. The main storyline is concerning Ethiopia in the 1930s and the invasion of the Italian fascist army. A good read.
