When you start to follow Holacracy, you learn to create new structures and ways of making decisions that empower the people who know the most about the work your company does: your frontline colleagues. Good Approach, Not a Book for A Single Read
The concept is very interesting and promising. But I found it a bit hard to follow from audio book format because it is hard to visualize the explanations without seeing physically. Also the book tells a method. So critical points should be bookmarked and listened repeatedly.
    Great idea
this is a great topic to cover so please keep coverage on this subject more
Incredible ideas for a world that desperately need them
This book defines a new paradigm that does so many things which organizations and the world need including clearly defining an organizations purpose and getting everyone in the organization to use their minds to achieve that purpose. When we unleash all of the brainpower and discretionary effort that is currently wasted in the world we will see incredible increases in productivity and innovation. This book provides a system to unlock that incredible potential. Organizations and individuals will benefit immeasurably.
Thorough run through holacracy rules and behaviors
Good explanation on what holacracy is, how it works and how to introduce it into an organisation.
    Informative boredom
I so looked forward to an interesting read. I enjoyed the concept and am intrigued by the possibilities. My displeasure came not from the new-wave perspective on self-organization, that was enlightening, but from the verbose delivery of the author. I agree with other reviewers in this forum: less would certainly be more as to the too-many words used. That alone made this book difficult to get through. That aside, the construct presented could certainly work if given the chance. Thanks to the author for sharing this ground breaking system.

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 39 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
Choice. Power. Speed. Today's leaders continually face these forces. But with too many choices, too much power, and too much speed, leaders often make decisions in a heightened state of emotion (and drama). Hasty decisions are often poor ones, and in this climate there is no place to hide. Privacy is a thing of the past; the days of covering up or ignoring a problem are over. In today's transparent culture, the decision making of leaders is more vulnerable than ever - and it is more critical than ever to get it right.
Marlene Chism's No-Drama Leadership introduces just the model the corporate world needs. Using case studies, checklists, and examples from various levels of hierarchy in leadership and from a variety of industries, Chism introduces the mind-set shifts and practical skills needed to develop enlightened leaders whose decision making flows from a much more grounded and aligned place.

    Dated and preachy
It may have been useful once; attempts to be inspirational but overuses 'always' and 'never', which on second thought....Overlooks the power of context; in my view, rather than thoughtful and instructive is preachy.
    Listen and repeat.
As always, enjoyed the materials shared and learned even more from the personal side. Thanks
    Love love love!!!
It was life changing. Mentoting others is a win-win situation and the journey is better with others in it. Celebrating others heals and takes out the competition. Just another wonderful book by John Maxwell.
    Wonderful!
I always say That I don't know everything and can always learn something new and this book helped in so many ways as a leader! I highly recommend this book if you are building a team in network marketing or if your about to!
    The guidelines to mentorship
The best content packed book I have come across in terms of the what and how of mentorship. John Maxwell is cited as the Guru of leadership, and this is clear proof why he can boast for that title. The narrator does not do the book justice though; for me this book required someone with a deep, passionate voice and that was missing crucially. Nevertheless, it still remains a must-listen for anyone who is already mentoring or looking to start as a mentor - this work should be an essential part of your library.

  • Dare to Serve Audiobook by Cheryl A. Bachelder

    Title: Dare to Serve
Subtitle: How to Drive Superior Results by Serving Others
    Author: Cheryl A. Bachelder
    Narrator: Cheryl A. Bachelder
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 54 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-19-15
    Publisher: Gildan Media, LLC
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 81 votes
    Genres: Business, Leadership
    Publisher's Summary:
Cheryl Bachelder joined an ailing restaurant chain and turned it into the darling of the industry - by daring to serve the people in her organization well. When Bachelder was named CEO of Popeyes in the fall of 2007, guest visits had been declining for years, restaurant sales and profit trends were negative, and the company stock price had dropped from $34 in 2002 to $13. The brand was stagnant, and relations between the company and its franchise owners were strained.
By 2014 average restaurant sales were up 25 percent, and profits were up 40 percent. Popeyes' market share had grown from 14 percent to 21 percent, and the stock price was over $40. The franchisees were so pleased with the turnaround that they began reinvesting in the brand, rapidly remodeling restaurants and building new units around the world. The difference maker, Bachelder says, was a conscious decision to lead in a new way.
She and her team created a workplace where people were treated with respect and dignity yet challenged to perform at the highest level. Silos and self were set aside in favor of collaboration and team play. And the results were measured with rigor and discipline. Servant leadership is sometimes derided as soft or ineffective, but this audiobook shows that it's actually challenging and tough minded - a daring path. Bachelder takes you firsthand through the transformation of Popeyes and shows how a leader at any level can become a Dare-to-Serve leader.
    Critic Reviews:
"Extraordinary! Dare to Serve describes the kind of leadership so desperately needed in the 21st century. A powerful blend of courage and humility, Cheryl Bachelder's engaging story offers a clear path for leaders to follow, and what makes her message so compelling is the tremendous results she's produced. I highly recommend this book." (Stephen M. R. Covey, number-one best-selling author of The Speed of Trust and coauthor of Smart Trust)

    Publisher's Summary:
Top leadership researcher, consultant, and coach Susan Fowler says stop trying to motivate people! Its frustrating for everyone involved and it just doesnt work. You cant motivate people - they are already motivated but generally in superficial and short-term ways. In this audiobook, Fowler builds upon the latest scientific research on the nature of human motivation to lay out a tested model and course of action that will help leaders guide their people toward the kind of motivation that not only increases productivity and engagement but that gives them a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment. Fowler argues that leaders still depend on traditional carrot-and-stick techniques because they havent understood their alternatives and dont know what skills are necessary to apply the new science of motivation. Her Optimal Motivation process shows leaders how to move people away from dependence on external rewards and help them discover how their jobs can meet the deeper psychological needs - for autonomy, relatedness, and competence - that science tells us result in meaningful and sustainable motivation. Optimal Motivation has been proven in organizations all over the world - Fowlers clients include Microsoft, CVS, NASA, the Catholic Leadership Institute, H&R Block, Mattel, and dozens more. Throughout the book, she illustrates how each step of the process works using real-life examples. Susan Fowler s book is the groundbreaking answer for leaders who want to get motivation right!
