the presentation was somewhat dry. This is however to be expected from a book focusing on analysis and review. the analysis and review was both clear and sufficient. I got the most valuable points from the original book at a fraction of the price and time.

I like this book because I have a problem prioritizing the tasks; it is good to get efficient. I would recommend it to people who are very busy working in the hospitals and are in busy surroundings where they are preoccupied with many tasks. It will help you prioritize and will help become time economic.

The best Servant Leadership book I've read

This book was incredibly easy to understand and inspiring. The servant leadership principles are presented in a common sense way. Jeff Hoyt was, by far, the best narrator I've ever listened to. I was so thankful for the final chapter. The author did a great job of pulling it all together and presenting the application of the principles to life and business. If you are at all interested in SL, get this book!

Gritty authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin's voices alone would be intimidating if their message wasn't so on pointe. Excellent book on leadership told in an engaging way. With real world examples both on the battlefield and in business, this book was a refreshing and unexpected way at creative solutions for life's and business problems.

good basic summary

good basic overview of the book with the points of leadership but nothing entertaining like the stories or anything else which would generally be the reason a person would buy the book if you're interested in this at all you should definitely purchase the full book it's worth the extra 10 bucks or so

Concise and effective rulebook for your new leadership role!

I am an executive coach and often work with managers and executives on career or leadership transitions. This book nails it. It is a very concise and organized view of what to do when you are in your new role to succeed quickly and effectively. My favorite quote "If you plan to show up and do your best, you're still thinking like an individual contributor."

Common Sense Advice All Leaders Need

I just read "42 Rules for Your New Leadership Role." Then I reread it. This book is dynamite!

Author Pam Fox Rollin gets it about leadership, and how to transition into your new leadership role. The book is easy to read -- and use. Its format, 42 short essays on making the transition to leadership, makes it a valuable resource for new and experienced leaders. It is the very best "how to" guide for leaders I've come across -- and I've read a ton of leadership books.

I particularly like Rule 4, "Draft Your Strategic One-Pager." Rollin's advice, "Summarize you company's strategy and your team's role," is solid, but often overlooked common sense. She asks some thought provoking questions and suggests that the reader answer them in a one page summary.

Rule 15, "Show People How to Work With You," is another great piece of common sense leadership advice.

I have always been impressed by Steven R. Covey. To publish this years after his death - wow! Consistent with his other work it helps us focus on what matters, what is primary. While not his original thought, all great thinkers and philosophies come back to this single thing. By connecting and becoming living examples of correct principles we become ambassadors for the things that are important, that protect ours and following generations. The consequences of not doing this are cataclysmic, just look around.
