Members Reviews:

WOW!!!???

âDemolition Dadâ is one of my favorite books EVER! Iâm an old guy and I used to like wrestling, and even if you donât like wrestling, this book is WONDERFUL, FUNNY, etc.! Kudos to the author Phil Earle and illustrator Sara Ogilvie!

Characters:

Our two HEROES: Both Jake and his father George Biggs loved wrestling. Jake is small and George is strong, big, HUGE (and a little fat --- O.K., FAT).

Jakeâs Mum (âthe brain and the beautyâ) and Jakeâs little brother Lewis; Jakeâs best friends Mouse and Floss (great names!); Arnie McBride, the âPresidentâ of WOW Wrestling (if thatâs what he does); Enid, an old lady who looks like a robot, who helped Lewis --- even George was scared of her!; Sam ânâ Ellaâs Kebab (famous for terrible food); and others.

If you like trivia questions:

A. What is Georgeâs middle name?

B. What is Jakeâs Mumâs name?

C. Arnie would show up to the Biggs place at the Storey Street, but very often he would use other words. (Maybe he wasnât too smart.) Four of the words he said and two words he didnât. Which two words did Arnie NOT use:

1. Sawcross, 2. Seabiscuit, 3. Seacliff, 4. Slowclift, 5. Soulcroft, 6. Sunnyside.

*** Wrestling and Me:

When I was young, I used to watch wrestling on TV from Sunnyside Arena in Queens NY. Do you remember the wrestler Antonino Rocca? He was amazing, smart, and a really nice guy! Sadly, I was there in Sunnyside Arena only once. When my father thought wrestling was rigged, I didnât believe it, but now I think he was right. But after the âDemolition Dad,â Iâm back to being a young kid!

If you like trivia answers:

A. Melvin.

B. Lucie

C. 2. Seabiscuit and 6. Sunnyside.

Length: 3 hrs and 49 mins

Language: English

Release date: 12-21-16

Publisher: G&M Publishing

Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10

Publisher's Summary:

What they uncover is a tale of greed against generosity, centered around a beautifully handcrafted toy known as the loving Christmas doll. It's a story of hope and redemption, twists and turns, and the magic of Christmas. In a style similar to that of Frank Capra's sentimental storytelling, The Loving Christmas Doll is a holiday narrative that celebrates humility, captures the true spirit of the season, and instills a lesson that you will want to share for years to come.

The stories are cute, but the author should be more aware that when writing kid's books to really edit them instead of spell check. Children don'f need to be reading books full of grammatical mistakes. i. e. " I can here you" Seriously, the author needs a crash course in homonyms, contractions, and the correct use of pronouns plural forms.

Great book

I love this book. I can't wait for the next one. this whole series is wonderful, as I'm reading I feel as if I'm experiencing everything that the characters are.

Really liked it. It was amazing. (aged 10)

I loved it, but there is few words I don`t understand. I loved the adventures. I recommend it to children who love reading.

Length: 3 hrs and 17 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-03-16

Publisher: John Powers

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes

Publisher's Summary:

Queen of Sky Island is a coming-of-age story charged with fantasy, heroic adventure, and vividly imagined new worlds. It is a 21st century adaptation of a story by L. Frank Baum, the creator of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Queen of Sky Island reveals a young girl, Tara, who, in her determined search for her military father, becomes trapped on an actual island in the sky where she leads one otherworldly army against another.

Tara's faithful companions on this perilous adventure are Bobo, a brave young boy who possesses a flying umbrella; and Sgt. Rik, a resourceful disabled veteran who looks after Tara and her mother at their seacliff cottage on earth. Through miscommunication, Tara and her companions arrive at Sky Island, a bizarre land divided between wildly different pink and blue territories. They are unfairly taken prisoner by the Boolooroo, the selfish and mean-spirited leader of the Blue people. Facing a horrible punishment known as patching, Tara and her companions escape and run for a thick fog bank that separates the two territories. With help from an unusual creature, they cross through the dense fog, and they are taken to the queen of the Pinkies.

After surviving a near fatal test in this new realm, Tara shows what she is made of and rises to lead the Pinkies against the Blues in an attempt to defeat the Boolooroo.

Members Reviews:

A tale for children and adults alike

Beautifully narrated, Queen of Sky Island draws the listener in with its explicitly drawn visual images and odyssey story line complete with many adventures, moral choices and positive outcomes.

The written language is captivating and the narrator brings the story to life with perfection.

It's only listening through to the very end that you learn about the author, John Powers who adopted a little known Story by the creator of the Emerald City years ago. These notes add to the enjoyment of the tale.

Título: Lucas y Alex: Y Otros Cuentos Sobre la Infancia

Autor: Hernán Casciari

Narrador: Hernán Casciari

Formato: Unabridged

Duración: 2 hrs and 25 mins

Idioma: Español

Fecha de publicación: 10-11-16

Editor: Cavagnaro Digital
