Great job taking me back to simpler times by an excellent author.

I loved reading My Brother's Story and it took me back to my great-grandparents time and country living. My great-grandparents had a farm in Hickman County which is a neighboring county to Maury County and close to Columbia. It took me back to wonderful times I had on that farm and remembering how their water was spring fed (and never turned off). Although I did not have a twin I could relate to having a brother and the special ties that Johnny and Will felt. And of course remembering the mischief my brother and I got into and the switches we got on bare legs. Once I started reading the book I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the next story in the series (The Dead House). Great job by an excellent author.

Wonderful Read

Have you ever sat on a parent or grandparent's knee and been lulled into an evocative story conjured to help remember family lore? My Brother's Story by Allen Johnson Jr. is such a tale and has the reader feeling himself or herself a cherished child again, well cuddled with an ear against a chest and hearing the cadences of the much loved voice of a dear storyteller. Dally awhile in this charming tale of adolescent adventure and brotherly love, recommended for young and old, but especially for any parent searching for a story of bygone days where characters, such as Johnny ad Will, exemplify ideals of goodness, courage, and honesty. Mr. Johnson has penned a captivating yarn set in the Old South that draws one into recollections of an idyllic childhood where anyone should want to idle away some lovely hours.

Just plain fun

A captivating story written so that the reader "gets to know" the characters and come to love most of them. It also communicates some of the valuable aspects of human relationships. It would seem to be most appealing to the ten to seventeen age group, but would be much enjoyed by readers of any age. Just plain fun to read. It would be a good addition to school libraries.

I loved this book!

What a great read! I found myself reading the story aloud, tickled by Allen Johnson's charming southern dialects. It's a lovely, meaningful story, for both young and old alike. I'm excited to read more from this gifted writer!

The boys must resolve their problem with Rock, help Hoolie earn his merit badges on Earth, and help him find his way home before "Animal Control" captures him!

and fun to read as it sounds

"The Alien That Ate My Socks" is as clever, comedic, and fun to read as it sounds. The Hooligan brothers are very close siblings who team up against all the odds- their chores, the bully at school, and every other obstacle that comes their way. Although they give each other a hard time, they are clearly close and the best of brothers/friends. In a car race against the bully they've been pranking back and forth, their car is derailed by a purple blob, which turns out to be an alien which they name Hoolie. It's every bit as delightful as it sounds.

This is a wonderful read for young elementary and middle grade readers who love to laugh and go up against the odds. The pictures were well done and really added to the story and imagery. I think this book is a definite winner, and I imagine the planned series will be just as great (so much potential)!

A really fun book

Hank, Hector, and Henry are the Hooligan boys, three brothers that love having a good time, they also like to do the right thing too! The story is full of fun and adventure and there is an excellent moral to the story. Highly recommended and can see it being a firm favourite.

FUN BOOK!

This dare-turned into adventure-will thrill the entire family; especially any boys! Filled with mischief and lots of trash-talking these boys just want to help--- but who can they trust?

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! the illustrations!

This is definitely one to read!

I don't think it's good

Just the way it's written can drive me crazy! I thought it was going to be an entertaining story with adventure and saving people. I thought wrong! In the first story, the dog gets hit by a car! I was crying and its just so sad. People who are dog lovers don't want to know about dogs getting hit by cars. I'm a Dog Whisper and I know better. Don't waste your time reading this.

Get some tissues you might need them.

Wonderful read, thoroughly enjoyed these stories.

I am a lover of L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz books and this book is written in the same spirit as the original classic books. I truly enjoyed listening to this book, and certainly hope the author writes more Oz books.
