Duty First Kind of Book

Gillian loved Maksim but he didn't love her. They had been together 7 months and he was going to propose marriage to her because her upbringing and unassumingly average lifestyle as an adult made her a suitable choice as the wife of the future King of Volyarus. In addition they had a great physical relationship and she got along well with his family; but then Maksim got the results of her physical examination showing that she was unlikely to ever conceive a child, so instead of proposing that night he dumped her. Of course he slept with her first and didn't use protection because he knew she wouldn't get pregnant, except that she did. Ten weeks later Maksim found out about the pregnancy and much of the rest of the book involves his persuading her to marry him although he still acknowledges that he doesn't love her. He even philosophizes that his cold actions in dumping her is somehow no worse than her refusal to fight for him after he dumped her, because she had said that she fights for what is important to her.

There was an epilogue to this book, but it seemed to be written mainly as a segue to "Prince of Secrets", the book about Demyan Zaretsky. There were also a few clues in this book about what the plot of that story and perhaps what the major secret of Prince of Secrets will be.

disappointing...

Poor Gillian....expressing her love before the H commits himself! Somehow this puts me off a story. Though the h is a strong charactered woman she makes herself so vulnerable to the H whose priorities lie elsewhere. I don't think he deserved her at all. She accuses him of not loving her, which is ridiculous, because either you love or you don't. He is more practical than emotional which probably his position demands but doesn't say much about his feelings for her. His realization of his love for her seems almost a convenience for all around. If it wasn't for the baby(he is already dating other women!), I doubt he would have gone back to her. A rather disappointing read.

The Prince nabs a bride

WAITING FOR YOU by Jennifer Ryan. Narrated by Joanna Parker

This was a cute story of a young couple who had sex then Grant ran Taylor off, even though he knew he really loved her, then he had to wait for eight years for her to come back home. Then he had to prove to her that he really didnt hate her, that he loved her and always had. It was a really cute short story. I really enjoyed it. I liked the secondary characters, too: Seth, Amy, and Rain. 4 Stars

There was explicit sex in this story and the F-bomb was used a total of 9 times throughout the entire book.

As to the narration: I enjoyed Joanna Parkers narration very much. I would definitely listen to her again......................................

SWEET FORTUNE by Candis Terry. Narrated by Xe Sands

Another sweet love story. This one was about a Deputy and a waitress who found each other, with the help of friends. Sarah had moved 1000 miles away from her family who were self-absorbed they didnt even see her, didnt even seem to notice when she moved from California to Texas. And this was about Brody who walked in on his fiancé doing the dirty on HIS dining room table, on Valentines Day, so he had a hard time with trust, until he finally noticed Sarah serving him coffee. A cute little story. 3 Stars

Im afraid I didnt like this story that much. I couldnt even tell you what Bertie looked like, other than she wasnt all that much to look at. I got the impression she was a little ugly because Bobby Murkus suggested they get together because no one that looked like the two of them would ever find love they would have to settle. So, he thought Bertie and he should be settle partners. I, also, have no real idea what Drake looked like, either. Other than he had really curly hair that stuck out on each side of his baseball cap.

Too Much Fun

This is such a fun listen. Francine is a hoot. She is strong, smart and determined. The boys, Mitchell and Alejandro's, don't stand a chance. She has spent her life in love with Mitchell, her wolf, and falls for Alejandro, her cat, in an instant. She chases them and they chase her and then events lead the threesome to an understanding. This is a light listen that is well executed by Tillie Hooper, she really suits the characters, especially Francine. I will definitely listen to more stories written by Eve Langlais and narrated by Tillie Hooper.

Who more stubborn then he is why she is of course!

If you could sum up Jealous and Freakn' in three words, what would they be?

She always known he was her one true even as kid who chase him down and try make him see her point of view.

He learn just how fast he could run as kid and hate the smell of bubble gum. He denies he want her and that is that so he thinks.

He is cat who see her and goes meow baby, goes for what he wants and she wants him to. What happens is a rolling ruckus of fun, fights, anger, lots of nose punch's.

It take seeing her in another arms to make him wake up? or will cat get away with the prize?

Francine is sooo funny!! I absolutely LOVE her tenacity when trying to convince Mitchell that he is her mate!! Even if she has to tackle and tickle him into submission! Mitchell however refuses to listen to her or himself!! That is until a sexy, tan, piece of yumminess on a Motorcycle shows his interest in Francine!! All he'll will break loose then!! Tillie is perfection again! She has the perfect smartalike attitude to make Francine alive!! She's a master at the differences in her characters!! I'm going straight to book #3!! I absolutely LOVE this series!!!

Great Short Story

What did you love best about Finally Found You?

This was a great little short story. I really enjoyed the Characters. I felt bad for Presley in the beginning when she walked in on her boyfriend. But when Mason came over to help her get through her tough times. It was great watching them bond together. A nice short read.

Mason and Presley are two of a kind! They are perfect for each other. Complementing each other so well. They enjoy the same things, know how to have fun with each other and most importantly they could laugh. It did not surprise me once the hormones started flaring, Presley and Mason taking their friendship to the friends with benefits level. And the thing about them, adding in the sex did nothing wrong for them. Truly enchanting a Beautiful relationship, to a level that was truly amazing. Not to mention both have got some dirty talking mouth on them. Woot! Again remember they are not dating! Ha! When life events shift, we truly see how they are not dating.

Add in life throwing a wrench into everything that's comfortable in their world. See how the people who don't want to feel love truly do. A sweet love story with a naughty twist. Carrie Ann Ryan turns geeky escapades into steamy passion.

Gregory Salinas narration of Finally Found You turns this hot story into a scorcher. He brings a depth to Manson and Presley, that you don't get reading from the pages alone. Not to mention Gregory's voice is very nice on the ears. Having read Finally Found You then listening to the audio version after, this is one of those book that the audio truly makes a good book better.

I recommended this book before even finished it. This is a great read that is well written and organized.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is unexpected and nothing is predictable. The whole time I was on edge trying to figure it out. I loved this story.

Which scene was your favorite?

I listen to all in one setting not wanting to put the book down and it actually made me forget to take my lunch break at work. All was really good couldn't press pause for anything.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Fate brings two souls together for an epic love story with hot HOT hot sex. Starts off as an love story of two broken people and then many twist later you have a completely different book. Two people who help heal each other.

WOW unexpected twist.

Any additional comments?

This is a horrific story of abuse and after escaping the situation she has to learn how to cope. She seeks refuge in a friend with some unexpected turn of events toward the end of the book you are reading a complete different story of love, healing and everything in between.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Apartment 2B?

Another great audio book by this author. I really enjoyed this book and seeing how two people come out of their shell. Liam is Sidney's neighbor in her new apartment. He's very closed off from others since losing his parents a year prior. Amazing story you won't want to miss reading/ listening.

Horror plus romance story

I could have gone without all the erotic scenes, I started fast forwarding through them as they got old soon. Also, If you have a weak stomach this book is not for you.

Aside from that I really liked the mix of horror and romance in this story.

Meghan the narrator was as always spectacular.

excellent story

l love the way you are drawn into her world. I would love to be able to be friends with her characters. she makes them so real. I always read the book then listen to it because it adds extra dimension and enjoyment . plus I can do my house work or craft while being in another world.

Awesome Read

This is a light story of a D/S May /December romance between two powerful people. Its very sexy and sophisticated way to spend a few hours. Carrie Ann Ryan has made this subject matter palatable for those of us with a little kink of their own to enjoy a few hours listening to a guilty pleasure.

Forever Ink

Callie is one of my favorite female characters I have read/listened to. She is comfortable in her skin even if she does get a bit self conscience at times. Morgan I would like a lot more if he didn't sound so high society. I must say that the narrator did a fantastic job at making Morgans mom extraordinarily easy to hate. I have never felt so much hatred toward a character before. It made the story much easier to feel a part of. It was a wonderful story with some very impressive narration.

Warm, pleasant and not bad at all

I really enjoyed this book, it was a nice story with great visuals and an entertaining plot. Easy/fast to get into if you need a good story to distract you.

It was ok.

This is a story about three sisters who finely learn how to talk to each other and be real sisters. Celeste returns home after her narcissistic mother dies. Celeste doesnt like being home because it reminds her of all the mean things her mom said to her. it's a Story about healing but the healing doesn't happen until the end and even then it's just starting to happen.

The story moves at a very slow pace. I fell asleep quite a few times through the narration. At first I would go back and re-listen to what I missed but eventually I just stopped going back and continued on. I don't blame the narrator for this but the author.

Beautiful story

I loved listening to this story as I fell asleep. I also listened as I did housework at night. I loved the descriptions of the rose garden and the many different types of roses. I also liked the story line of how each daughter dealt with their mother.

I have listened to this story over and over again and never was bored with it! I hope to find another book as entertaining and sweet as this book!

Awesome Story on Audio!!!

This was one of the coolest audios Ive listened to in a long time.Hollie Jackson has a wonderful voice that brings the characters to life!!! I adore everything Scottish, and this audio had it all!!! This story definitely had awesome historical research, magic, danger, interesting characters and most of all, one hot Guardian!!! Rebecca and Cailen, are thrown together as she searches for her missing mother, who is somewhere in Scotland. There is a cryptic letter and a necklace holding a strange stone, left to Rebecca by her missing Mother. She travels to Scotland, and ends up in an old Inn. Rebecca needs to find answers, and begins questioning the locals. When Cailen shows up, she is intrigued, especially since there seems to be an instant attraction. They are both strong willed and must face multiple obstacles to find the answers they are seeking. This audio kept me engaged, and I did not put it down until I finished it!!!. Congratulations Angelait was a wonderful audio!!!

Also, I read her fabulous book first, and listening to it is so cool. You can pick up those subtle nuances that you might have missed reading it. I highly recommend doing this....as a reader, you can get more of the the experience.

This was a total trifecta of new for me. New author. New narrator and my first ever audiobook review. The first two didnt bother me so much, but to review an audiobook is definitely a different beast from reviewing a book because much of my enjoyment lays heavily in the hands of the narrator bringing the story to life and that can be a slippery slope, but in the case of The Guardian, Hollie Jackson did a wonderful job of bringing Angela Aarons characters and story to life all the while keeping me engaged the entire time.

As I said, Hollie Jackson did a wonderful job narrating The Guardian. Not only was she able to convey the emotions of the characters well, but she did a great job with the Scottish accents and being able to change her tone so that each character had a distinct voice. Not an easy feat by any measure and after listening for about an hour I was able to tell who was speaking because of it.

Rebecca and Cailen were characters that I really came to like and want to see if they could get past certain roadblocks that could keep them apart.

Life After Perfect....

A very moving and passionate story.

I thought it would just be a nice easy fluffy, read to take me through Hurricane Matthew, but it turned out to be a lot more.

The story dealt with some very heavy topics such as infidelity, cancer, hospice care and the various stages of grief. But the concepts and emotions involved were so skillfully portrayed that the reader was not bogged down by the experience.

The voice of the male lead might not have been as we would imagined it, but all the voices were distinct and consistent. The narrator captured the mood and tone of each character's experience perfectly. This was a challenge in itself because there were quiet a number of characters.

It was also pure happenstance, that I was going through a real life Hurricane while reading about a possible coming storm in the story line.

I was totally distracted from the weather outside, as I rode out the storms of all the emotions pouring from each page.

A very emotionally satisfying read.

Will tug on your heartstrings

Beautiful love story about surviving an ending of one thing and finding a way to move forward. beautifully written, characters are well created and the story flows well. I teared up on several occasions for most of the characters, not just the H/h. The narrator does an excellent job of bringing this story to life. Very good book.

Narrator overplayed

I enjoyed the story although the narrator was distracting.

Mary Robinette-Kowel has a lovely reading voice. Had she relaxed into the read rather than trying so hard to give each character a distinctive voice I could have happily gotten lost in the story. My imagination is capable of creating character voices if given a chance. If MRK did a redo, I would gladly listen.

Good overall

I'd give this a good review. The story itself was very enjoyable. I might have liked it more had I read it on Kindle vs. listening on Audible. I hate to be negative, but I have to be honest. I think the voices the narrator attempted are what's throwing it off for me. In the beginning, I thought it was so bad, I almost deleted the book. The women sounded really snooty and the men came off as sounding like cave men. Some of them came off as completely ignorant. I didn't like that at all.
