What made the experience of listening to A City Dreaming the most enjoyable?

It was a little nonlinear, but once I got into the rythm of the story I found it to be fantastic. It is truly an original. Really loved this one.

What about Eric Meyerss performance did you like?

Ridiculous story

This story jumps around some much I almost got vertigo. I had to rewind constantly. It makes no sense how much this story jumps from dimension to dimension. I finally just quit. I wish I could get my credit back.

I love the naration, brings life to the undead!

I'm only a few chapters in. I'm enjoying it so far, but only because the narrator's pace, tone and inflection has made the overly detailed descriptions of coeds constantly changing clothes less tedious. I'm looking forward to hearing the story fully develop and hope to find more content with Jacqlyn Titus as the narrator...

Not bad for the start of the series. Gem and Del are sister and brother. Young half demons trying to stay below the radar. Things heat up when demons with agendas get involved.

Nothing original! A remake of the series The Veil

If you are familiar with The Veil series, then you will enjoy this book. There will be an instant familiarity with the concept of half-demons, the instituted, demons, and relationship with the humans. What is missing? The insane sadomasochist romance between the characters.

The conflict in The Veil and this story is demons and half demons passing as humans. The half demons try to live below the radar. If caught by the humans they turn them into the institute, which will experiment on them without regard to them being sentient beings. The demons can appear normal. Many have respectable positions of power in the city. Of course, humans are unaware they are demons.

The demons work to enslave and degrade the half demons. There is the constant struggle for the dominate persona for half demon. There is the sexual tension generated by the pheromones between the species.

Gem, the half-demon main character spends 8 hours looking for her brother, Dale and backstabs her new friend whenever it benefited her. Gem and Dale were created by the institution to kill demons. Yet, there were innumerable times that a demon would have her in a killing position and she surrendered to them. Dale, is the personification of chaos. He needs saying?

Like the character in The Veil series, Gem spent her time whining about the life of a half-blood, running from demons and the Institute who want to use her for their purposes. As a character, she is only loyal to her brother, naive about the world and other demons, and spend her days fighting with her demon. Her sole purpose in the book is to remind us, the read, that she is looking for her brother.

No one gets between Gem and Dale. Even Dale himself? I had invested so much time that I was determined to see if she found Dale.

The irony of this book and The Veil series. Demons lie all the time. So when there are so many bargains broken how can you feel betrayed and why keep turning to demons for help? Well, this is the last Pippa DaCosta novel with a female as the main character for me. I will try her soul eater series.

I LOVE this author and the narrator. The Queen Betsy series is one of my favorites. But this book is slow going for me. It's not holding my attention. I don't think I'll finish it. Nancy Wu is great with the Queen Betsy Series, but having her read this one too puts too many similarities between the characters..I keep picturing Betsy and her book characters. The story also doesn't seem to flow for me. It also seems to jump around a lot. I really wanted to like this new book. I was so excited that MJD came out with a new book. I feel horrible about it, but I'll be returning this book.

Tried three times to engage with book.

What disappointed you about Deja Who?

Just not compelling. I tried three times to listen to it didn't draw me in.

Hilarious book

The story was great. The narrator did a wonderful job, but this was a very difficult audiobook to listen to. There was a lot, a LOT of inner dialogue. Though, like I said, the narrator tried hard to distinguish the inner voice from dialogue audible to other characters, it wasn't always easy to tell. If I could go back, I'd read this one on my Kindle.

Great story

I enjoyed this story. Not too crazy with the narrator but the story was good. I think it would be better if I read the book. So am I safe to say that there's a book about her friend???

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fates Divided?

One memorable moment was right from the beginning with Elena discovering her powers. There are so many memorable moments in this book.

Which character as performed by Elizabeth Evans was your favorite?

Elizabeth Evens did a wonderful job with changing of her voice for each of the different characters it is not easy to decide but I really liked how she portrayed Derek.

I am not a fan of paranormal books but I love the Blue Series by this author so when I had the opportunity to both read and listen to this book I took the chance. I am very happy that I did. Right from the start, I was drawn into the story and didnt want to stop reading or listening. The unknown of what was going to happen with the different twist thrown in really kept this book on track for me. The interaction of the characters in both worlds along with the beliefs and how people treated others brought the book back to reality. I wasnt expecting several turn of events and at times thought I knew what was going to happen to be pleasantly surprised that I was not correct. I will most definitely be reading the next book in this series and listening to it if Elizabeth Evans does the narration. I found listening to the story was more enjoyable than when I read the book a year ago. The narration of this already great story just put it over the top. I was able to visualize more of the story and the way the narrator was able to change her voice for the different characters made it easy to listen along. You could also feel the emotions of the characters with the way the narrator read the story. You did not tire of listening to her at all.

Continuing Splendidly

This book was one I was fairly sure I'd like because I really enjoyed the first in the series. I didn't listen to the first one however, and so the actual listening element was new for me.

I have to say I think this was wonderfully narrated with a lot of great voice acting going on. I appreciate just how much a good narrator can add to a story and, whilst I know I'd have liked this either way, I'm very glad I chose this medium to read it because it was superb!

Loved this but it was over way too soon

What a great book, it made me laugh out loud (on the train; very embarrassing), it made me cry (but only a little bit and while I was home which was a relief), it also kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more.

Go listen to book one first, it's good too, then come back and enjoy. There are other books set in the same universe you meet more of the characters there. You are best to start with Soulless it's fantastic too.

good continuation

if you enjoy the other Gail Carriger bond, then you will enjoy this. those not familiar with the parasol protectorate series may struggle to understand the storyline and done of why certain things are happening.

the leghorns by Moira Quirk is, as always, fantastic and her strong push brush ascent helps in making this series sound great.

the story is a bit of a gap covering story i think. great for people who enjoy the series as it tires quite a few loose ends while at the same time starting some great new possible storylines but it is very much an in series book.

Overall Good

This book was a good transition for closing a lot of loose ends in the series while moving towards an ultimate end.

One character did return that felt a bit unessesary, but it all paid off by the end.

Best series I've read in years!

Emmie Mears crafted a fascinating and highly original world in her Ayala Storme series. Eye of the Storm caps off the exciting conclusion. Well narrated and perfectly paced - this book may have been the most exciting and unpredictable end to a series that I've read in years. I loved every moment and couldn't leave the car til the last word of the epilogue was complete. Urban fantasy lovers will adore this tale of Ayala Storme and her band of Mediators, Witches and Shades as they battle the forces of Hell to save Nashville, and Earth, from certain decimation.

Excellent Series

The war between Earth and the demons has come to a head, and Ayala learns that everything the Mediators have been told is a lie. She may have to sacrifice everything, and everyone, she loves to save the world. Great series finale with lots of feels!

Mears again does a great job with what appears to be the finale in the Ayala Storme series. Ayala Stormes life has contained a lot of heartache and a lot of love. Now, when things are at their worst for the world, shes quite overwhelmed by both.

I will admit that I cried listening to Eye of the Storm. I can be a sap, I know; but, the weight of emotion Mears conveys in this book is really incredibledeep, deep feelings of being betrayed, of being loved, of losing something precious, of being in an impossible situation, of discovering a very personal truth. I can feel Ayalas emotions very keenly in every book, and in particular in this final book, which is probably why I enjoy them so much.

Im very curious to see if Mears will write in this world again. There is plenty of material, especially if subsequent stories pick up years later, or even years before, Ayala Stormes story. Eye of the Storm leaves the reader wondering who the real enemy is, and it would be interesting to see that play out at different points in time.

Regardless of what she writes, I am willing to follow Mears into whatever world she creates. Ill confess that I didnt have high expectations when I first picked up Storm in a Teacup. But Mears has impressed me with some fantastic writing. I cant wait to see what she does next.

Read if you need closure but be prepared for most of the good guys to die.

impressive at every level

enjoyed more than I expected. interesting magic, violent societies, no one has clean hands making all characters love and hateable. good stuff throughout all three books.

It dragged on and on

I really wanted to like this series.It started off with so much potential. However after the middle of the second book I just wanted to reach the end .It seemed to just drag on. The main characters at first was likable but then he just got really annoying and never grew as a character. I think I just felt like I was being punished just to finish the series because I hate leaving a few series unfinished. I'm just glad it's over.

This book is the conclusion to The Dragonkin Trilogy.

The story line had a difficult battle and a new enemy and further character development.

There was suspense, action, a swinging sword, and compelling teamwork.

I don't want to give too much away in this book either, but I will say it was a Satisfying Great End to the Trilogy.

Craig Beck did well with the narration.

An Excellent Conclusion to the Dragonkin Trilogy

Kingsteel takes all of the events from the first two books and wraps everything up nice and neat, giving a satisfying conclusion to this epic fantasy trilogy. Ive enjoyed this epic fantasy trilogy more than most due to the originality of everything. The author created a unique story, environment, races, and magic system, but what I enjoyed most was the unique and diverse cast of characters, who Ive grown attached to throughout the trilogy. The characters act in realistic and believable ways, and even the antagonists are easy to get attached to. The only problem I had with this novel is that the narrator would pause in the middle of a sentence and that would break my sense of immersion. I didnt notice it in the first two novels, and thankfully, I didnt notice it throughout the whole novel, just in a few specific parts. Overall, the narrator did a good job giving unique and distinct voices to all the different characters and varying his volume based on what was happening in the book. This book and the trilogy as a whole are definite worth a listen.
