I love this series on Logan Point. How well do you really know a person?

Even when you have lived in the same town with people for years, if you look on a personal level things aren't as they seem.

Livie and Alex have their own life ideals and problems from their childhoods. They set out to find Samantha Jo. Learning God is always faithful.

Can't wait for the next installment of this series! Patricia Bradley is wonderful! Elise Arsenault is a good Narrator.

Love the Tapestry woven by the author... rich character development in the Logan Point "Fsmily". Looking forward to the next release.

Not up to Sheila Connolly's usual standard

This audio book is 7 & 1/2 hours long. Unfortunately, there were only about 2 hours of story here. The author starts with a storm and a mysterious woman in the bar. Then she proceeds to tell the woman's story over, and over, and over and over again. I got so sick of Maura "reviewing" or "summarizing" the facts in her head and to the group that I could have smacked her one. There was zero advancement of the series ongoing story of romance between Maura and Sean or Mick, an infinitesimal bit about Jillian and Harry, a tiny bit about Maura wondering, (but not deciding) what to do with the bar, and several repetitions of praise for Rose's cooking. It's like Ms Connolly had an idea and a deadline, so she just repeated her material until she had enough words down to call it a novel. Don't waste money or a credit on this. Buy the paperback and read the first two and last three chapters, and you will get the gist of it.

All talk, no action

I loved the earlier books in this series, but this one was a huge disappointment. It was slow, very repetitive, and the entire story is based on people sitting in a room talking about something that happened 20 years earlier. It was painful to get through.

I love this series

I really love this series, but this book was not the best in the group. It dragged and was repetition. I hope the next one is a bit better. I do like Amy Rubinate's performance.

She's a great storyteller.

Ms. Connolly has Irish Blarney in her blood, being of Irish descent just confirms it The Irish are Master Storytellers.

All of her stories in this series are low key, slow to develop and the finally, though once again low key, is very satisfying.

Maura Donovan can be very naive, a bit to preachy and self righteous but it is all done out of love of heritage, her employees and above all justice.

If you have enjoyed the previous books in this series, you won't be disappointed.

I do love her resourcefulness in tackling her obstacles. I've been married for 30+ years but prior to that I had quite a few obstacles of my own as a long time single woman.

Great Series

Great writing.

I appreciate Mr. Herron's writing style - his masterful use of words and tongue-in-cheek humor make listening to his books easy and enjoyable. Each of his books seems to improve upon the other.

Best so far

This is a wonderful series and with each new book released it just gets better and better. I definitely recommend starting with the first book in the series (and an extra tip: read Mick Herron's book Nobody Walks prior to reading Spook Street). You will have a much better understanding of one of the characters if you do.

This author excels at character development. You may not like the characters, but you will definitely feel like you come to know them. The plot is exciting and the pacing is spot on. I strongly recommend this series.

As always, Gerard Doyle's narration is stellar.

Daily life stops for Slow Horses

I do this to myself every time: buy the audible version and forsake my own life until I've listened to the end. Herron's Slough House series rises above ordinary thrillers, which I find formulaic and boring, by being character driven while also being as tense as they come. They're also tremendously funny. When Jackson Lamb finally shows up at Slough after a long absence, I cracked up so much that I had to listen to the scene twice.

There's just enough background so that you can enjoy this book without having read the previous three, but why would you deny yourself the pleasure?

The Slow Horses Never Dissapoint

I have waited for months for this book to appear on Audible. The dialogue is witty and fast paced and the narration is spot-on. My only regret is that I finished it in two days and will have to wait months for the next installment, but I know it will be well worth the wait.

Probably the best to date

Where does Spook Street rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

In the espionage genre, this rates very highly. The concept is a bit off the wall, but the characters go from strength to strength in each unusual story.

Sure to be one of 2017's best

Oh, reading a new Gemma and Duncan story is like coming home to a cheery fire and a cuppa. The characters are old friends and it's good to get caught up with what's been happening with them.

The mysteries in this book - Gemma and Duncan each have their own - are quite good. I did get a bit distracted by so many characters and found some of them confusing. I think that's something I run into with audiobooks. It's not as easy to "look back" if something needs to be clarified. Search function doesn't work.

I love Duncan and Gemma together and, for this adventure, they were working separately. A little unhappiness in their lives? Say it's not so, Deb.

As always, Gerard Doyle is a narrator par excellence! His ability with accents and dialects is striking. I love his work.

Deborah Crombie is a master of description. Each location comes alive through her words. I still want to go on a tour of London with her.

Mysteries and Relationships

It took me a little while to catch up with Kincaid and Gemma, as it's been a while since the last entry in this enjoyable series. "Garden of Lamentations" is a very good addition for several reasons.

First of all, there are two quite interesting mystery stories going on - one for Gemma and one for Kincaid. They are very different in that Kincaid's involves crime and betrayal within the police department, while Gemma is investigating the sad murder of a young and well-liked nanny.

Love Leo Waterman

I wish there were more of these books. I just love Leo and his friends.

Fun mystery thriller!

Leo Waterman's creepy friends and great dialog make Salvation Lake a winner. Patrick Lawlor has the ideal voice for novels in the Leo Waterman series.

fabulous!

This is such a crazy ride. The characters were great and reader excellent. It had our attention from the beginning and never let go. The writer did such a wonderful job on this book and the laughs are an added bonus.

Still loving it

Sheila Connolly has written another great addition to the Orchard series. She's keeping the stories fresh and I'm still loving them. I've read some reviews that are claiming Robin Miles isn't doing a very good job narrating, I have to disagree with these reviews because I believe Robin is the voice of Meg. Sheila and Robin have once again paired to create another winning audiobook. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to fans of cozy mysteries.

This is a good series. It's a bit dry, but it has interesting characters. In this story, Meg got on my nerves a bit because her involvement was a bit of a stretch. The narrator was okay in the beginning, but as the story went on, she seemed to deliver the story in an almost monotone.

Deaver is back on top!

I unenjoyed The Skin Collector for its outlandish and improbable convolutions, but this book puts Deaver back in my top 10 crime authors list.

Maybe I missed a few books, but some time has passed for Sachs and Rhyme, and their relationship is rocky. Rhyme has retired from police consulting. And Nick, Sachs' ex, is out of prison, swearing he's innocent and looking to clear his name and win Amelia back.

There are several cases going on here--a bone-cracking, smashing killer, a hacker using smart appliances to kill, Lon Solito getting into heavy pain killers on the street, some references to a case Rhyme misread and which caused him to retire, and Nick researching his case to find something to point to the real perp in the hijacking case that put him away.

As in most of Deaver's books, he finds a new idea, researches it and makes it part of the crime. In a few of these, the technique, or the criminal's flaw was just so bizarre and obscure as to be incredible, but here, he has toned this down just a bit so that things are more reasonable. However, he may be making a social comment on our dependence on the smart capabilities of all our Things to the extent that we are leaving ourselves open to attack by hackers. We are now used to phones being used to set off bombs, old hat that; now your modern fridge can send out internet spam; you might be attacked by a runaway car, a computerized stove, your baby monitor, a power tool with measurement or shape memory capabilities, etc. --anything that has a computer in it. Frankenstein's monster kills his maker. With a side diatribe against bullying.

And also, as is Deaver's style, we travel with the sick-o killer, seeing into his mind and past, his reasoning, his planning of crimes. In this case, it is all believable and interesting.

comfy and fluffy

Although the main character, Prue, behaves, thinks, and talks much more like a young, inexperienced girl than a woman of 50, I still enjoyed this book. Yeah, she is a little dense and makes a lot of annoying choices that make her seem emotionally immature and totally oblivious. Yes, every chapter starts with a rejection letter as part of the theme, but unattached to a scene in the writing, which probably works well in the written book but is annoying to listen to again and again in an audiobook. And the contrived internal conflict that is repeatedly used as an excuse for Prue's emotional issues is harped on incessantly as if we would forget if it weren't mentioned one more time.

But even with all the "faults" of this book's writing (or said in a more objective way, all of the things that annoy me personally about the book) it is still a really nice cozy mystery that I enjoyed in a low-key way as I had it playing in the background of my life. It never really had much going on that I had to listen to very closely, but it had lovely descriptions of gardens and plants, and a genuine and non-sappy sweetness and gentleness to it that is hard to find in any entertainment. Prue's loyalty to those who treat her kindly, her empathy and desire to help others, and her need for the feeling of connection with others were all heartwarming. I liked that she was so passionate about designing gardens and living in England. I also liked that she wasn't your typical weak and boring heroine. I really enjoyed all of the British accents, the gentle and slow-moving intrigue, the tea times and the little dog Toffee Woof Woof. I reveled in the atmosphere of this book and was really sad when it ended and I no longer had a comfy British cozy playing while I cooked and cleaned and drove.

I thought it was awesome that the author added a bit of romance to this mystery, as many mysteries don't have any and for me that brought a lot more interest to the storyline.

Extremely disappointing

After reading these books for more than a decade, I'm sorry to say I'm very disappointed in this twist in the story line.

not one of the better story lines

the dialogue in this was also pretty weak. more like simple banter back and forth than the usual easy but interesting conversation between Hannah and her family and friends.

I've enjoyed this series of books, but the last two have been disappointing. I didn't like the turn that the story line took. I even dozed off during this one.

the story was good I enjoyed the plot

was a good plot but Hannah is always made to look irresponsible when confronting the murderers. you would think by now she would know to take someone with her!

Not the best one of the series by far

I've read all of the books in the series but I really haven't enjoyed the last few. I think Hannah has gotten a little boring and even her marriage to Ross hasn't helped.
