I only listened to the first 15 minutes or so
I did not get far into the book before realizing that 2 of the main characters were in a homosexual relationship. Although this country has been effective in pushing this down our throats calling it hate speech if we do not welcome it with open arms, I am a Christian and it is Gods word that this behavior is a abomination, I really don't care what your sexual preferences are as that is between you and God. But when purchasing a book there is always a list of things for example this book might not be appropriate for younger readers, I think before we spend our money on books that we should be told that there is homosexual content. I know that our country has fallen into a place I no longer recognize the bible says in the last days what is right will become wrong and what is wrong will become right, we still have freedom of speech in this country and I condemn no one for there sexual preferences, all I ask is that it is put in the info about who this book might not be right for.
    Interesting read
What did you like most about Snatched?
The story was very well put together.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed that it wasn't just about a copper trying to solve the case. It involved the teacher just as much.
Have you listened to any of Catherine O'Briens other performances? How does this one compare?
This is the first audio i have listened to narrated by Catherine.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened over a 12 hour period with stopping occasionally. easy to listen to in one sitting time allowing.
    Any additional comments?
Well having recently enjoyed a few other Audio books, I was thrilled when Stephen allowed me copy of this to review.
I listened to this over one night shift at work. working nights can be long, and quiet, so this really kept me going.
And it wasn't just he audio aspect of this book I enjoyed, the story line was really quite good.
We start off this story with 7 year old Natalie, not being picked up from school in time, and then goes missing. This has got to be every parents worst nightmare.
One of the last people to see her, was her teacher Sarah Jenson.

    Members Reviews:
    Disappointing
There was simply too much going on in this book. The reader is inaundated with the lead character's opinion on Mormans and her trust issues with men. The reader is told about her past with domestic violence but instead of making Quincy endearing it makes her annoying because of her behavior. Quincy acts without thinking and maes horrible decisions. Her character remained flat and unlikable throughout the book. The plot fell short in that there wasn't very much investigation done by Quincy. There were few clues to develep the mystery which made the story boring. I forced myself to finish this book because I had nothing else to listen to. I wouldn't recommend it.
    A fun new series
An enjoyable new mystery series. I like that the author brought in culturally relevant ideas and themes into the plot, characters, and setting!
    FUN!! get ready to laugh!
Would you listen to The Final Arrangement again? Why?
I would listen again for the FUN of it. There are great characters, situations, mysteries and the world! I laughed out loud, snorted my drink, giggled and reminisced.
What did you like best about this story?
    I love the humor.
What about Elan O'Connors performance did you like?
I love her noises, laughs and sighs like a real person makes, not just saying, "and she laughed" or "with a sigh" it made the story more real for me.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    both
    Any additional comments?
I was going to get book 2. Until I saw there was no narration. Now I'll wait and see if Elan O'Connor narrates book 2, otherwise forget it.
Interesting twists and a couple of U turns
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The book is a good listen when able to stay focused and in tune. Driving to and from work for say a 15 minute commute doesn't work with this book. Long chapters
What aspect of Elan O'Connors performance would you have changed?
her voice is a bit annoying at times when she assumes different characters - I got confused a few times on who was talking and to whom...
Did The Final Arrangement inspire you to do anything?
I finished the book and l looked to see if there are any more in the series. Alas not at this time.

Another Great Book in a Delightful Series
This is an entertaining series with engaging characters. I look forward to read about what happens next.
    Great storyline
I really enjoy the story of the Ollie Perez series. Strong characters who seem real I their idiosyncrasies. Fun!
    Good story
Really like the characters, they are well developed and the story is fast paced. The ending is usually a surprise.
Another great book with an awesome narrator
Love the whole series! Eileen Stevens is one of my favorite narrators. Overall, the experience was wholly enjoyable!
    Super Chef
I have mixed feelings about this engaging series which features White House chef Olivia (Ollie) Paris. I love how the author made Ollie a strong, confident woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind. Ollie is a refreshing change from all the wimpy, submissive female characters who have been featured in popular fiction the last few years.
Unfortunately, the plot of All the President's borders on the ridiculous. No way in hell would the Secret Service allow unknown chefs from an unfriendly country assess to the White House kitchen and the food eaten by the First Family. I am afraid that the author is running out of credible ideas for amateur detective Ollie.
FYI, these books contain absolutely no swearing or sex scenes (not even for the newly married Ollie).

    Many characters. Complex plot.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, easy to listen to and very well narrated/performed.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It kept me interested. I wouldn't say the edge of my seat though.
What about James Macphersons performance did you like?
Fabulous. One listens to the story and forgets that it is just one person reading. Every character has a different voice and they are all recognizable. He even maintains the characters through the other books. Wonderful!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I'd say two. It is long.
    Any additional comments?
Be warned it is a complex plot with a LOT of different characters. One does have to really pay attention to names and occupation of the characters in order to follow the story.
    Favourite Rankin book so far.
So I started reading this series from the beginning I.e. Knots & Crosses and couldn't see what all the fuss was about. But Black & Blue didn't disappoint. Lots of action, twists and turns. It was useful to have back story on some of the characters. I sometimes find it hard to keep up with all the different characters that Ian Rankin introduces, but like a ball of tangled wool it unravels towards the end of the book, as all becomes clear. I like James Mcpherson's narration and he makes listening a pleasure. Looking forward to reading the rest of the Rebus books.
    Fascinating-----riveting
Having lived through the Bible John saga etc. there were answers proffered and even more lanes to go up.
Have promised myself to start it all again at the beginning to savour all the bits I'm sure I missed
    Nah! B O R I N G!!!! what a waste of a credit
Well I am sorry Ian Rankin, but this Rebus story bored me to tears. The story dragged on and didn't have a conclusion to speak of. It meandered backward and forwards and it It felt as though Rankin thought" right I've written the contracted pages so I'll end it abruptly, collect the money and go"
I felt thoroughly cheated wasted my credit GRRRR
In the end I didn't give a stuff who Bible John .....Arrrgh..... was whether they cxaught him or his copy cat... just so long as he stopped saying Bible John every other word....
I loved Rebus on the TV both with John Hannah and Ken Stott as Rebus but this was dire, The narrator droned on.. I like him in Taggart but his voice has aged and become montone. If he called the police "woolly suits" one more time I think my ipad would have been wrenched from my ears and stamped on, there were other tedious repeated phrases.. equally annoying. Padding out of lines methinks!!!

I understand the need for the "southern accent" but gheee lawd this is a lot. And the term "care bear" is sickly sweet. Store is good just tone down the southern speak
    a fun book!
I enjoyed this book. It was a fun listen. I laughed out loud because obviously the narator enjoys what she does and she emphasises what need to be emphasised.

    An enjoyable mystery series
I've listened to the first two titles in this series and hope there will be many more. Two witches, cousins born months apart, live in the town of Hitching Post, Alabama with their very extended family. One has turned to healing and the other to hexing, but never death. Good plots and typical Southern belles, gents and strange relatives.

    Very good book
Truly enjoyable, if a bit disturbing. Another score for Reginald Hill, one of the best out there.
    Intriguing story beautifully told
Wonderful reader one of Hills best his use of fantasy and dream along with language make great literature as well as a great mystery
    Splendid.
Classic Andy and Pascoe with the always clever Wield and the up and coming Novello make this a winner.
Excellent narration by one of the great voice actors. Really enjoyed it.
    A mystery written like literature.
It is so difficult these days to find a good mystery with great characters that is also well written and a pleasure to the English language ear. Beulah Height kept me caught up in its characters and story for many days.
Most enjoyable book to listen to.
Reginald Hill was a great writer but Jonathon Keeble made this book even better with his narration. He can do a 'reet Yorkshire' accent brilliantly. Despite the difficult subject matter I smiled a lot throughout this book at Daziel's quips and observations and Keeble's delivery of them. Very good book, good story line, brilliant narrator.

Seeing the wood for the trees is the problem for Andy Dalziel when he finds himself fancying an animal rights activist depite her possible complicity in a murderous assault and her appalling taste in whisky. A mind-bending puzzle leading us on the wild side of the pastoral.

Probably the worst Dalziel Pascoe Book
I have read and/or listened to all the Dalziel Pascoe books over and over. I had read The Wood Beyond just once, and wondered when I saw it offered on Audible, why I never picked it up again. Having listened to this audio version, now I know why. Its slow, not at all exciting, and most of the book is spent on Peter Pascoe's family history.
It seems that the current narrator of the Dalziel and Pascoe series, Jonathan Keeble, is here to stay. He is fine, but just fine. He does a good Andy, Peter and Weildy. But his womens' voices are truly awful.
Hope they bring back Shaun Dooley or Colin Buchanan. They are outstanding. I can't count how many times I have listened to the Dalziel/Pascoe books they narrate.
If you are a fan of this great series, you can skip this book and not miss a thing.
    Perfect recipe for mystery
In my favorite novels, there is a mixture of past and present, good and bad, anticipation and satisfaction. Reginald Hill has such a deft touch. His books are never too salty sweet, or bitter--but just a delicious mélange that keeps me coming back for another banquet!
    Reginald Hill in fine form.
What did you love best about The Wood Beyond?
The level of detail that Reg Hill imparts is truly impressive. All the characters are well developed - you are invested right from the start.
What did you like best about this story?
The back drop of the Pascoe family history.
Which character as performed by Jonathan Keeble was your favorite?
Keeble does a masterful job with all the characters but I guess I enjoy his Peter Pascoe the most.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I had the time - yes
    D and P always a delight
the narrator is very good and brings familiar characters to life. as usual Reginald Hill's facility with dialogue makes the plot almost irrelevant. wonderful use of language. His regionalisms, combine with historical and literary references to make a challenging and compelling read. I always wonder how many times I miss his nods to other authors or past events.
    Slow start - great finish
Really slow to get going but really worth the effort to keep listening. Lots of twists in the plot right to last few minutes!
Excellent narration with good clef distinctive characters.

"A strident blast of the trumpet to wake up crime fiction readers everywhere." (Val McDermid)

    Brookmyre rules.
You may miss some of his earlier over the top humour, but the more serious Chris B is an increasingly accomplished writer of really good thrillers. Well plotted, well read. Highly recommended.
New style Brookmyre with familiar faces. Good Book
Would you listen to Dead Girl Walking again? Why?
No, it's a mystery and I know the outcome. Saying that, the characters are richly portrayed in true Chris Brookmyre style and I genuinely enjoyed the journey.
Would you recommend Dead Girl Walking to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes and no. If my friend liked 'Bedlam' or 'Pandaemonium' (which I did not like at all), I'd tell them to stay away. If they liked the Jasmine Sharpe books, I think that this might be closer to their taste, it's a clever mystery with a bit of familiar Parlabane humour mixed in - which I think really suits the author's style and I'm looking forward to his next effort hugely as a result.
    Any additional comments?
I've been disappointed by Brookmyre's previous 5 books and I've not been enraptured by one since 'A Snowball in Hell' if I'm honest. This was a half-way house between a Parlabane novel of old and a Jasmine Sharpe mystery (it even shares a few characters later on). I liked the balance, it felt like a more natural fit for the author and characters. A definite return to form in my humble opinion, I will start to watch for more new releases by Chris Brookmyre as a result.
    Very intriguing thriller
This was my first introduction to Brookmyre and very different to my usual reading but gripped me from start to finish while causing me to laugh out loud from time to time. Brookmyre now high on my reading list
    New style Brookmyre
Fewer profanities, less comedy. A good enough story but I think I preferred the old Christopher Brookmyre. Nothing unique about this book.
    Great Story
Would you listen to Dead Girl Walking again? Why?
I love Chris Brookmyre's books as his stories develop gradually and he clearly enjoys writing about his key characters. In this one Jack Parlabane is back, almost as a broken man, having lost everything. However, Jack's not really broken - just far more cynical and with less to lose! The narration is great too!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jack Parlabane of course - the book's main, highly cynical character!
What does Angus King and Kate Bracken bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
The use of 2 narrators to read the main female and male parts works really well in this book as it's written from 2 different perspectives, flitting between both in turn.

I hated putting it down when I went to bed but did finish it the second day. So yes, I just needed more hours in the day!
    Any additional comments?
I enjoy listening to this series. Kuzneski always mixes some real historical events (documented), some folklore, something biblical though not necessarily religious and some geographical pertaining to the area. Sometimes I find myself taking a break to look something up to find out if it is fact or fiction. Surprisingly many are factual. The story is woven through all of the above to create a nail biting mystery thriller. Everytime you think you know what is going on, you soon find out you don't. No one is quite who they seen to be. It's nice that there are characters returning from previous books giving continuity however this can be listened to as a stand alone. Very good and highly recommended.
I love Payne and Jones... But Maria....
What made the experience of listening to The Death Relic the most enjoyable?
I just love the characters, with whom I feel connected. I want to know so much more about them, I want to read more about them... I just love them.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Petr Ulster!!! The man is just a lovable weirdo! I always imagine Richard Griffiths playing him!
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    consistency and life
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
of course, I just wish that Maria was completely different!
    Any additional comments?
I can't be the only one who wanted Maria to not speak the entire book... At first I was so excited to see an old character come back but then she started talking. I wanted to strangle her.
Payne and Jones taking it easy this time
I've listened to all (but one) of Kuzneski's Payne and Jones books and have enjoyed them a whole heck of a lot. But Death Relic was just so boring. I really didn't care about the relationship between Jones and "what's her name." There were a few good banter scenes between Jones and Payne, but for the most part it seemed like they just glided through the story.

    Blue film and blood-red murder!
All Hollywood producer Ben Sloane had wanted was to find Sol Dahlman, the mysterious film genius who had made The Wild Nymph - and now Sloane is dead. "Go up to Rockview," the governor tells Mike McCall, "and get me the killer!"
But it isn't quite that easy. The Mann Photo Service, long rumored to be a center of the blue-movie industry, is torn by a strike, and nobody is talking to strangers - not Xavier Mann, not Mayor Jordan, not beautiful April Evans, who refuses even to tell who she is or why she, too, is investigating the murder.
Then, just to make the job a little harder, Cynthia Rhodes and her women's liberation raiders hit town - and a man named Carry Tanner decides McCall has lived too long.

    Tricky mystery
A popular director is killed after he had gone looking for a student who directed a blue movie 20 years earlier. The governor sends his investigator to find the killer. There is a plant strike, a women's lib group, a senate investigator, and a whole town out to get in his way. Plus, one of the strikers is out to kill him.
    Five Stars
As all prior Ellery Queen books I have read, keeps you interested throughout.
    Glad to have it
Ghosted by Edward D. Hoch. Enjoyable. Glad to have it.
