    Publisher's Summary:
When my boy Henry was killed, I tracked a pooka through the deep wood for three days with no food in my gut and only my daddy's hunting knife for comfort. Was what got me into the monster killing business, that pooka, and I ain't regretted a single day of it since.
The day I stumbled on a four-legged critter with human eyes, the rightness of my revenge begun to unravel, leading me to a clan of two-natured shifters what'd been living under my nose the whole time. And when the two-natured started showing up in odd places, stalking humans in a very unnatural way, weren't nothing I could do but dig to the bottom of it.
And what I found turned my world and ever thing I knowed upside down.
Author's Note: The Deep Wood was written in the native dialect of the narrator, found in the rural areas of the Southern Appalachians. The grammar, spelling, and syntax are not standardized American English.

    Amazing Paranormal Fantasy
I enjoyed the first book and this one is even better. This is a unique story and a lot was explained in this book. There was a lot of character development and we got to meet several of Sunshine family members.
Narration is outstanding with unique accent that fits Sunshine perfectly.
There seems to be a bit less action in this book but we dig deeper into Sunshine family and history.

    A Great Listen
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. I really enjoyed this novel, it was as good as the first one. This is a strange tale filled with suspense, action and humour. Sunshine is a very interesting main character, she's very unique and loves the people she considers hers. The fast paced plot is complimented by the well written character. It's a great series, looking forward to Volume 3.
    still enjoying the series
Again, I enjoyed my time with Ms. Sunshine Walkingstick. This isn't a book of fast paced action, but more of slow developments and strength of character. I happen to enjoy that, but if you're looking for shootouts and car chases, or dramatic clashes of humans versus monster, you'll be disappointed.
What I like most is Sunshines voice. She's...Appalachian I suppose is what I'd call it. In the first book I struggled a bit with it, but here I quite enjoyed it. Both the way Roman wrote it and the wayWinder voiced it. Maybe it just took getting used to.
While I understood Sunshine had trust issues, I eventually became confused about why she was so unable to recognize Riley's intentions toward her. He's certainly not hiding his feelings. The whole this is starting to stress the bounds of credibility. Similarly, considering the events at the end of the book, I'd have expected to see a bit more stress on his part.
All in all, however, I very much enjoyed this and am looking forward to book three.
Note: I received a copy of this book for review purposes. But I chose to listen and review it.
    Amazing characters
This book could probably be read as a standalone but it has huge spoilers for book one, so if you plan to read the series you should do so in order.
If you enjoyed book one then you'll enjoy this one as well. It's written in the same style and all the main characters are in this book too.

If you need a series that is fun, engaging
If you need a series that is fun, engaging, suitable for adult fantasy lovers while appropriate for younger teenagers but does not shy away from some real but delicate issues such teenagers will face, The Raven, the Elf and Rachel and the whole Books of Unexpected Enlightenment series are for you. Engaging and often hilarious characters get themselves into and out of serious trouble at a dizzying pace, while trying to grow up and navigate the boy/girl swamp and manage the expectations of the adults - not all of whom are on their side - at a magical boarding school. And dragons! And magic! Duels, ghosts, elves, angels, scary bad guys, hair-breadth escapes. And mystery upon mystery slowly unfolding through 3 books so far! This is book 2 in the series.
Most important, the stories don't try to muddle the distinctions between good and evil to the point where every villain is just misunderstood, every evil act excusable, and all good deeds just a hypocritical facade. In the glorious tradition epitomized by C.S. Lewis and Tolkien, while it is not always easy to tell good from evil and right from wrong, time and experience will tell. Your job is to be, like Sam Gamgee, faithful and loving. True heroism flows from that spring, and Lamplighter's characters live in a world full of the deep, personal - and, I might add, normal - relationships of sister to sister and brother, parents to children, daughter to grandfather - and true friends. These are flawed - sometimes deeply flawed - characters who nonetheless love each other and dread doing, not just suffering, evil.
Lamplighter isn't interested in telling us how all the villains are just misunderstood, like sparkly vampires, and how great acts of evil are acceptable or, worse, indifferent. No, she's interested in seeing just who people are as they reveal themselves through their lives and actions.
This second book in the series begins where the whirlwind 1st book ended. Rachel, a diminutive yet irrepressible young magician, has gathered a group of remarkable and, to say the least, colorful friends about her at Roanoke Academy for the Magical Arts. Things go wrong at an often dizzying pace - there's no slogging through pages of background or filler.

    Never saw it coming!!!
Wow! My heart is splintered just like it was in the very first book, Frenzy, but for so many different reasons. This book was the perfect ending to the series and though I hated the author a time or two, she told the story as it was meant to be told.
    Wow!!
This was a great ending to a series. There were lots of twists and turns in this book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Tage will always be my favorite person in this series. I can't wait to see what Casey comes up with next.

    Amazing!
Loved the characters and mythology of this book. Really enjoyed the use of Norse mythology in this book. Plenty of mystery and action. Fantastic narrator, she did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Highly recommend listing to this one and will definitely be looking forward to listening to the other books in the series, I really want to know what happens next! I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
The First Volume in a Series
What starts out as a murder mystery becomes a full-blown supernatural tale of Norse mythology in modern times.
"Midnight Burning" is the first volume in a series, and suffers from the need to set up the story and introduce you to all the characters in a short space of time. Consequently you end up with too many coincidences, a lot of rushing around back and forth, many small holes within the structure of the story line, and a disappointing cliffhanger at the end.
That being said, I thought it was an enjoyable listen and would recommend it. I look forward to the 2nd and 3rd volumes and hope they are able to move past the get-it-all-into-the-first-volume woes of this book.
Note: if you don't like cliffhangers, you might want to wait for the 2nd volume to come out before listening.
The narration by Jennifer Fournier was terrific.
This volume was provided to me at no charge.
A good start to a new Norse fantasy series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
As the title says, this is a good start to a Norse pantheon fantasy series. It is a little slow at first, as the author provides a lot of background, but it definitely picks up. I was a little worried going in, because this was a fantasy romance novel and sometimes the romance part completely overwhelms the actual story and causes me to lose interest. Thankfully, this was not the case for this book. I liked that this was focused on Norse mythology. There aren't as many series out there that focus on this set of gods, so it is a pleasant change. The narrator has a nice voice and does a adequate job of giving the characters their own voice. This book does end with a cliffhanger, though, so fair warning.
    Interesting twist on Norse Mythology
I gave this story four stars because it was an extremely slow start. It took me a couple of hours to get into it, and even then it was up and down for me.

    A Little Slooooooow
    Any additional comments?
I generally dislike giving bad reviews, especially for a freebie, but this definitely was not a good listen. The book is slow and narration is spotty. The music parts and whispery (should be a word) laughs were annoying. The story is a mash up of different religions, who get everything wrong, and the destiny of gods to be or something all thrown into people whose old souls have to relearn centuries of stuff. The author is trying to make some mystical journey to awaken our spiritual selves. I have listened to books like Hunters Unlucky or Bassam and the Seven Secret Scrolls, where I felt inspiration or a spiritual change, but this book was a whiff for me.

    Absolutely captivating story!
If you could sum up Blessedly Bound in three words, what would they be?
    Where's the movies?
What other book might you compare Blessedly Bound to and why?
It's the adult version of Twilight you didn't know you wanted but needed because this is SO MUCH BETTER.
Have you listened to any of Molly Kings other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not so there's nothing to compare it to but it wasn't bad.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My heart! Omg it was edge-of-the-seat, what's-going-to-happen-next, heart-pounding excitement. The character development really made you feel like your heart was going to burst from love the next minute break from sadness.
    Any additional comments?
I absolutely cannot wait to get into book two! This novel really left off in a great place though that as a stand alone is a fantastic piece. I could easily see this as a movie on the big screen. Someone get working on that! You really feel the energy build as the novel goes and she gains her foothold in the world of Magick. It is a captivating story and I want more!
    A Multifaceted, Entertaining Read
If you could sum up Blessedly Bound in three words, what would they be?
    Well Written, Multifaceted and Entertaining
What other book might you compare Blessedly Bound to and why?
Hmm....that's tough. This book was very different. It oddly reminded me of the cozy mystery books
What does Molly King bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She made the characters feel very real
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was comfortable. I liked being in the book. At the same time there was tension because she's looking for the murderer of her grandmother
    Any additional comments?
    Here's my full Amazon review:
This book is very well written and very well developed. It's hard to describe it because it had so much going for it and had so many different aspects to why I liked it. Most of the book had this comfortable feeling, like you wanted to live in this word, but it also had an underlying tension as the main character was not only seeking out her grandmother's killer, but is also being stalked by another witch. The characters felt real. Many of the characters live in the gray area between good and bad.

Good Start To a New Fantasy Series
The narration was very well done although the accent and poor grammar was a bit distracting at times. The narrator did a good job bringing the story to life.
The story was interesting and quite funny at times. The main character was tough but has no clue about men. Riley is a good man and he was Sunshine's friend growing up. There were a few surprises and twists throughout the story. The story kept me engaged and wanting to find out what was happening to the water.
I enjoyed this audiobook and I'm looking forward to the next book in this unique Paranormal/Fantasy series.

    Story is in need!!!
    Any additional comments?
The story was very lacking. The author either talks to her audience like their 12 or totally leaves things out, like you should know them but don't figure it out til later. BUT don't give up keep reading because 1 the narrator is fantastic and I did end up going on to book 2 and book 2 it was like our writer found her writer legs. No more talking down to the audience, she reminds you of things in book 1. Even though this book is not the best, read it take a chance because the 2nd one is really good and looking forward to the third.
    Good story with excellent narration
    Any additional comments?
    3.5 stars
Good start to a series. Really good story with excellent narration. While it's interesting and pulls you in immediately, it's a very, very slow building story. At the same time it holds your attention completely. It's always alluding to something "more" supernatural going on but it takes the whole story for things to really come together. Which is annoying in some ways but is also perfect because it keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing as to what exactly is going on.

    Any additional comments?
It has been a long time since I have loved a book as much as I did "Dog Walker." This odd paranormal horror story centers around a young man who makes his living as a dog walker. When he is assigned a certain Shiba Inu, he discovers that the dog, Toby, is more than he seems. In fact, Toby is a demon designed for ultimate destruction! Dog Walker Ben and Demon Dog Toby team up with an elderly luchador and a badass female cop to fight the cult that wants control of the canine murder machine. This story is silly, spooky, unique, fun, ridiculous, hilarious and hard to put down. I have *never* listened to a book that had me laughing over and over again like this one did. McGuigan has spun a tale that I will never forget, with a promise of a sequel I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on. Travis Baldree delivers a performance so fantastic I thought I was listening to an old time radio show. His comedic timing, accepts and just general acting chops were a brilliant fit for this story; he really brought the characters to life in a way that I found truly enthralling and impressive. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys unusual, outrageous, hilarious stories about demons and dogs. 10/10 I will definitely be listening to this one again!

    laugh out loud
I really enjoyed listening to this book it was entertaining and fun with horror. Ben is a dog walker who is hired to walk and care for Toby, a Shiba Inu who is an ancient demon. It also has funny characters of Hipster Girl (Emily) Dragon Mask (a Mexican wrestler), Sarah (a cop) and many dogs (with funny dog notes): then all these demons (unreal descriptions). Recommend to anyone one who loves dogs and bizarre horror with humor. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. Thank you.
    An Enjoyably Fun, Fast Read
Ben Carter wants to be a writer but hasnt been able to make that happen. In the mean time, he works as a dog walker. He gets an assignment to walk Toby, an easy going Shiba Inu. What Ben doesnt know, but will soon find out is that Toby isnt really a dog. Toby is actually a powerful inugami. A Japanese demon bred for murder. Toby is also being hunted by a cult that wants to use him for evil. The Dog Walker is a fun, fast read thats a welcome change from vampires, werewolves and wizards. Its definitely worth your time.
