    Title: Saint Death
Subtitle: A Reagan Moon Novel, Book 2
    Author: Mike Duran
    Narrator: Randy Streu
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 32 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-29-17
    Publisher: Mike Duran
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 8 votes
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Paranormal
    Publisher's Summary:
Reagan Moon didn't plan on being an earth guardian. He was your average paranormal reporter...until 1,000 volts of raw electricity fused an ancient relic into his sternum. It left him with Powers and lets him do things most humans can't. There are others like him, seven of them to be exact. They call themselves the Imperia and are charged with keeping Earth from going down the toilet. This usually involves fighting monsters, tweaking the laws of physics, and keeping lots of booze and bandages on hand. But when Saint Death comes knocking, no amount of holy water and hand grenades can slow her roll.
She's the queenpin of the Santa Muerte pantheon. The folk religion's central deity often appeared as a Virgin or a bride. Some called her the Grim Reapress. But mostly she was known as Saint Death. Now she's got a companion. With the help of the Summu Nura, a Neuro priestess has rediscovered the Grimoire of Azrael, the Archangel of Death. And the Tenth Plague is about to be unleashed upon Los Angeles. Apparently, only Moon and his weathered compatriots can prevent the angel's arrival. Yet earth guardians aren't indestructible...as Saint Death is about to prove. Myth and history collide in the second installment of what Publishers Weekly called "one of the best indie novels of 2015."

I love this series a great read
Book one was great, so that makes this one super great. So far I have yet to read a bad story in any of Simone ponds Siri that I've read so far. This book continues the story of good versus evil and the characters that were in the first book her in this book as well and she had few more characters which the ones you like you'll become invested in and the ones you hate you Will root for their destruction. The story pretty much starts at the top of the roller coaster and then runs all the way to the end of fast twisting and turning and lots of action. I think this series would make a pretty neat TV show kind of a less dark supernatural. Recommend basically a PG-13 rating a minor amount of language and violence, they are fighting demons and evil beings so it is kind of expected. I am looking forward to book 3. One of my favorite authors.
    Four Stars!
This is such a fun series! I love watching Fiona try to take down and expose corruption and wrongdoing wherever she goes while using her investigative reporting and Protector of Light skills. I thought Rising Light was just as good, if not better than, the first book Sacred Light. And with that ending, I am extremely eager for book three!
Rising Light was an easy read that kept my interest
Rising Light was an easy read that kept my interest. I actually liked this book even better than the first. Our main character has some definite, noticeable character development throughout the story. I like that there were new characters introduced and they added more depth and dimension and I also appreciated the changing relationships between some of the characters.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next in the third book considering where Simone left us (and with whom). I also want to know so much more about the mysterious Monarchy. I'm hoping book three is where that mystery will begin to be cracked.
    Another amazing adventure of characters
    Book 2:Rising Light~~~
Anticipation is once again in my bones and heart as I await to turn the pages of Book 3!!!! Another amazing adventure of characters, twists, and colorful revealing of connections in life! Simone you have such a brilliant way with your LOGOS!!! Compassion with real life wonders I absolutely felt as I turned each page! Thank you for the sharing the wisdom of being more powerful together. Bless you always! Waiting once more and again for your next journey!
    Another fun read!
Good thing I decided to read the series once all three books came out. I was able to jump straight into the second book.

    Great new Urban Fantasy series
If you could sum up Hunting Shadows in three words, what would they be?
    Fight the demonic
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hunting Shadows?
Aurora "Rory" tells her backstory to Logan and one part was about torture she endured when a couple of hunters caught her. It was really raw, vivid and intense.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Sarah Puckett?
Yes, absolutely. I did get the perception that she is new to narrating.
During the first chapter her cadence was very abrupt. It reminded me of a typewriter. You type a sentence and then you have to move the cylinder/bar before going onto the next sentence. There was too much emphasis on the end of the sentence. But by Chapter 2 that was no longer the case.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was a book that I finished in a day. It was very intriguing.
    Any additional comments?
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I honestly really liked this book and it seems like the beginning of a great urban fantasy series. I'm a huge urban fantasy fan and this book is right up my alley. My only qualm is that the author uses the word "for" too often. It's a great word to use in place of 'because' or 'circumstances led to' or 'due to the' at times, but using it too often becomes noticeable and detracts from the story.
I would & do recommend this book to other lovers of urban fantasy. It was also clean enough to be considered YA material!
Vampires, demons and witches oh my. Audio version
Vampires, demons and witches oh my. Audio version
I'm looking forward to the next part of this. It's got me curious as to what's going to happen next.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this voluntary review.
    Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed, Easy-to-read, Great world building, Page-turner, Wonderful characters
    Good start to the series
This story was good and kept my interest throughout. The narration was ok and each characters voice was well defined. The speakers cadence took some getting used to though, there was just something a tiny bit off to it.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
    Good Urban Fantasy
    Any additional comments?
Good listen, not great, but pretty good nonetheless. The narration starts off somewhat stiff, but she turns that around after a few chapters.

    2.5, round up
Sigh. This may just be a case of a book being poorly matched to a reader, but I didn't much care for this. It wasn't all out bad, but it wasn't great either. If I had to break the review of my experience with this down to one statement, it would be both the book and the audio narration (by Jean Lowe Carlson) were only ok. Neither very good, but not all out bad either, or at least not to my liking.
I found the writing, especially the dialogue really stilted and stiff. This was apparent in the actual writing, but I think it was exacerbated by the way it was read by Carison.
Some people will probably like this kind of Mary Sue heroine, but I don't see the appeal. She was 27, but the book reads like it is YA. Esmerelda was constantly on about becoming (not being, but becoming) and independent woman. Despite this, she was also always moaning about her mom, or daddy or grammy. And in the end, wanna know what she felt made her feel more independent than anything ever did before? Getting married. Arg, someone get me a drink STAT! And this after spending most of the book all cut up because of one bad past relationship. It was cliched.
She also defeated an all-powerful enemy with presumably hundreds of years of training and experience in less than a page with no training or experience of her own. I won't quite call it deus ex mechana, because she had the power already. But I also couldn't believe it.
I felt no chemistry between Esmeralda and Thayne and at no point did I see their relationship develop. They were just in love all of a sudden and she was being handed a princess' happily ever after for no apparent reason.
I didn't truly understand why her and her black amber were so sought after. I have no idea what the underlying motivation of at least one of the villains was, and only a vague idea about the others. (And why have so many independent enemies?) And at one point an established dictum of the universe, that fae can't lie, is broken.
All in all, this is a strong case of 'special snowflake' heroine and I didn't care for it.

It's the last weekend before school starts, and Rain already feels trapped. It's an armband, two gold snakes intertwined, clasping each other's tails in their mouths. But the armband brings gifts of its own: Rain can now see dead people. Greg Weisman is the master
I've been a fan of Greg Weisman's for a while now, and this book lives up to the high standards he constantly sets for himself. The characters are full of richness and vivacity, the plot is engrossing, and as always Mr. Weisman strikes a great balance between realism and fantasy. The full cast of voice actors deserves special recognition. Mr. Weisman is a pleasure to listen to, and every voice actor brings the performance to life. The sound effects and music add the perfect touch to the performance. Congratulations Mr. Weisman on another great bit of fantasy!
    Alonso was my fave.
I loved it, hope to hear more. Especially with Gregg Rainwater. Thank you. Very good

A good story told by a very good narrator.
If you could sum up Hunting Down Dragons in three words, what would they be?
    Magical supernatural heroes.
Would you recommend Hunting Down Dragons to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes, if they enjoy shifter/magical stories.
    Which scene was your favorite?
When Ann was walking around in her shop. I wish I could have. It sounds so interesting.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes, I almost did.
She'll learn more of her family heritage
What did you love best about Hunting Down Dragons?
I enjoyed the blend of friends that Anne has, and her love interest. The world here is full of supernaturals - monkey shifter, gargoyle, fortune teller, wolf shifter water fae, and Anne herself who's dragon blood, and these are just Anne's close friends. Anne is a great person that's also of a diverse nationality. I love the writing of her as she's a normal, regular person as she should be, in a supernatural world. Anne and her dragon familiar are connected. But the connection could draw Anne to be a dragon if she gives to much when using Lucky, which is not a good thing. It's so tempting yet so dangerous that she could lose herself. And she will be watched by he Oddsmakers who rule the supernatural in the city because of her heritage.

*This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review at my request.
Jenna is a new narrator to me. I like when she gives a sound to one voice as though spoken into a room that has a large feel to it the distant echo-y voice. This extra really is awesome to get in an audio book. I enjoyed Jenna as she voiced the character's personalities. The audio felt seamless along with the cadence and emotions feeling to flow smoothly as she brought the story to life for us.
I've not read or listened to the first book. I know, that's out of character for me. But I liked the sound of the book and had to give it a go. It's all okay though. It's easy to pick up with the characters, world, and story in this second book without reading the first. The beginning of the book lists out who the characters are to each other and what they are.
