Members Reviews:

Utterly enjoyable

The story is really intriguing if you like paranormal romance with a twist. Both main characters are likeable and even endearing...In a very particular way. As for the narration, It perfectly fits my idea of Keith's inner speach, and I found the rhythm engaging. My only complaint is that It was too short. I wish there was more!

Urban Fantasy with a Noir Flair

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you're looking for an urban fantasy with a dry humor and new take on old cliches, Cherries Worth Getting might be just for you.

What other book might you compare Cherries Worth Getting to and why?

It makes think of Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

Which character as performed by Tommy Jordan was your favorite?

I very much enjoyed the dry, unflappable delivery of Keith Curry, as he encounters a goblin ex-lover, cannibals, chefs, and an extremely memorable vampire recluse.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud.

Any additional comments?

I very much enjoyed the dry, noir delivery of the voice actor as he navigated this strange, dark and hilarious story. It conjured images of Philip Marlowe taking on all the weirdness of urban fantasy.

"

Occult Assassin moves like a bullet exploding from Talon's 9mm Glock." (Nicholas Sansbury Smith, best-selling author of

Extinction Horizon and

"

The Occult Assassin series evokes the golden age of genre fiction: snappy writing and great plotting, larger-than-life characters, and a delicious mix of international intrigue and the occult." (Layton Green, best-selling author of The Dominic Grey series)

Members Reviews:

An amazing second book.

Any additional comments?

I loved book 1 of this but I have to say that this one was even better! It blew me away. The summary is spot on so let's get to my thoughts.

Talon is back and more composed and able to do his job better. In book 1 he was learning the ropes but here he knows what to do so we see more action from him plus he has a benefactor so there is more weaponry and knowledge.

This brought more emotions to the surface while reading, for me anyway. I felt so sorry for Nicole when she was young, but even more so now because she knows what to expect. I find possession stories to be so extremely scary and this is no different. The idea of a thing being inside you is just so shudder inducing that I was holding my breath at those scenes. Then the author adds in twist after twist and I was left reeling.

Once again, this is high octane action and adventure. Once I started I couldn't stop and listened to it in a day again. It has everything a great book needs and more. This book is pure entertainment and I could see it as a mini series cause it's that good.

In all, a stellar second book. I loved everything about it and will definitely be keeping my eye on this author. Bring on more Talon and co!!!!!

Once again, James Foster gave a flawless performance. He really knows how to bring the listener into the story and keep their attention throughout. Definitely a narrator that delivers all the time.

Thrill ride of a book

STORY REVIEW......

Mark Talon is once again battling evil occult followers. This time he's out to save a young formally possessed woman, Nicole Robertson who is being targeted. This is another great book by the talented Mr. Massa. The character of Talon is a mixture of Jason Bourne and Batman with just a dash of Hellboy thrown in. He's smart, sarcastic, crafty, quick on his feet, dark, haunted and knows how to kick some serious butt. The story is fast paced and really grabs you in.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be much better this time around. The characters are far better voiced and easier to recognize who is who. Like book one this book was a delight to listen to.

Members Reviews:

Crazy good!

Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Exorcist to be better than the print version?

Absolutely! It is so much easier to picture all the scenes with narration!

What other book might you compare Dark Exorcist to and why?

There's no comparison! This story is so much sicker than your average possession story.

What about Darby Croasdales performance did you like?

I like her smoky, irreverent tone. It adds a lot to the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some of the descriptions of violence were nauseating, if that counts...

Any additional comments?

Great story, not for the faint of heart!

I was excited to see another installment of the Occult Assassin and I wasn't disappointed. This time our favorite skeptic finds himself in Norway receiving a chilly reception from the local occult nut balls. Good times.

I can't wait for the next one!

Great series

STORY REVIEW......

This time out Talon is looking to stop a Black Metal musician from using a cursed relic in a ancient Norse ritual. Once again fighting evil to save the world with the help of his wealthy occult specialist friend. The North gods mythology and the cult was well written and researched by Mr. Massa. It added a interesting and important aspect to the story. It's a great short story. Well worth reading.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be getting better and better as he gets more familiar with the authors style and the characters. Another delight to listen to. I will most definitely will be continuing with reading the series and highly recommend this book for reading.

Stay Away From Talon's Cross-Hairs

Any additional comments?

James Foster really brings William Massa's story to life. In Ice God, the reader is led on a journey to the icy and frigid temperatures of Norway. We're introduced to Mark Talon, an ex Delta Force Operator on a mission of vengeance. From page one Massa shows why he's becoming one of the best indie author's out there. He fills this short story with interesting and developed characters--from Talon and his billionaire associate, to the satanic rock band members they are hunting half way across the world. Did I mention there's also a cute marketing woman named Kristin that Talon is trying to save? This girl can ski!

Ice God moves like a bullet exploding from Talon's 9mm glock. And William mixes in just the right amount of action, suspense and character development. This is really impressive considering Ice God is technically a short story.

I've read all of William's books this year and Occult Assassin may be the most exciting series he has planned.

Story lagged a bit, but

Story lagged a bit. Even though they were always moving, it was easy to drift off. Towards the end there's no drifting. It gets good and leaves you wanting the next book now.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I thought this would be more about animals coming to life and attacking people, but I was wrong. It wasn't a fun, light-hearted shreiker. It was a very dark horror book. Others may like it, but unfortunately this one wasn't for me.

Publisher's Summary:

Brusenna thought it was finished. She defeated the Dark Witch, saving the Haven Witches from imprisonment and death. She found love and a place to belong.

But she was wrong. A new threat merges with the old as the Witches' dark history begins to catch up with them. Only Brusenna knows the extent of the danger and how to stop it, though doing so might cost her everything.

Including her life.

Members Reviews:

Amazing book!

Amber Argyle has, without a doubt, become a firm favourite of mine. Her writing is amazing and her attention to detail is phenomenal. She has never failed to grab me right from the start and take me on a magical, often times tragical, journey. Every one of her books has been action packed and intense. They have caused me to cry, to gasp, to shout out and to have a book hangover! This one is no different.

May contain spoilers for book 1!!

Brusenna is once again in a fight for her life. She thought that after defeating the dark witch, her life would be easier now, but she is wrong. She has to defeat a much more dangerous foe and try to save her fellow witches. All the while trying to have a life with Joshen. Can she do it, or will her story end tragically?

I fell in love with Senna and Joshen after book one, and this one just cements it. Senna is such a worthy heroine. She knows her own mind and even when she is told not to do something, if it's the right thing to do, she will do it no matter the consequences. She is strong willed, kind, capable and loyal. She has been through so much, and even more during this one, yet she stays true to herself.

Joshen is such a dolt!! How could he be so stupid and not trust Senna after everything!!!! (You will have to read it to see what I'm talking about) My heart was in my mouth wondering if they would make up or not! I love these 2 and they are perfect for each other so I'm glad it was all sorted.

The plot is once again extremely fast paced. I loved that we get to see the dark witch again and what Senna does for her just goes to show her character. There are secrets revealed, lives lost, friendship destroyed, and even worse, a deception that is hard to take. Basically we have a book filled with everything a great book should have.

Everything about this book, and indeed the series, can be summed up in one word.... amazing! It's a book that once you start, be prepared to be up all night because you won't put it down. The world Amber created is magical and one I know I will revisit again and again. Highly recommend her work and I can not wait to read more from her.

Melissa Reizian Frank has such a great voice for this series. It feels like she is the perfect Senna and really gets the story. Her tones inflections are perfect and she brings this story alive.

Sienna's story only gets better!

In this second installment in the Witch Born series (3rd counting the prequel), Senna faces a host of new challenges that bring her literally to the point of death. The action and tension are non stop, with plenty of romance thrown in. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series to learn what happens next in this captivating story. As with the other books in the series, the narrator continues to do a wonderful job with the whole cast of characters.

I ENJOYED TYHIS TRILOGY VERY MUCH! THE MAIN CHARATER HAD PERSONALITY, DEPTH, WAS FUNNY, AND a VERY LIKEABLE Vampire! WANTED TO SEE WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO NEXT! THE NAME ALMOST DETERRED ME, SILLY BUT TRUE, BUT AM GLAD I MOVED AHEAD AND purchased it! Give it a try, you won't be dissapointed!

Fun reading

A fun read, lots of humor, enjoyed the stories for light reading. Not very scary, vampires, demons, undead, etc., but not scary, more adventurous than frightening.

Would recommend just for fun reading.
