Compilation of Old Articles
The entire book is a collection of articles written by Kass for TheStreet over the last 14 years. Nothing new or informative, but it's fun to observe where he was right and wrong over the years. Kass observed and warned about the housing bubble and resulting consequences well ahead of others, but was incorrectly bearish at other times. Proof that the writings of Kass or any financial pundit should be taken with a grain of salt.
After years of poor performance Doug releases a selected sample of his old writing to make himself look like a genius. Lazy!
Doug Kass calls the stock market top and says to go short in January 2013. This has to be one of the worst calls made in stock market history: http://www.businessinsider.com/doug-kass-bearish-sp-500-call-2013-1
Update 2/17/2015:
I hope nobody followed Doug's advice since my review as things have quickly gone from bad to worse.
Let me recap:
1) His top picks have gone down between 50% and 90% in a bull market!
2) OCN. Down 90% ASPS down 80% AAMC down 90% BONT down only 50%
3) His pick of the year for 2014 MONIF goes down 90% at which point he gives up and sells at the bottom only to have the stock go up 40% after he sells. Is it possible to have worse timing?
4) Doug actually decides to go short against the best investors of all time. Loses tons of money shorting Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway
5) He makes fun of Carl Icahn for tweeting that AAPL is a no-brainer. Turns out it was and the stock goes up over 50%. Of course Kass is short apple
6) To top things off Kass was short the market during a recent runup.
