Six orphans are suddenly drawn into a comic book of fairy tales. In this comic book world, they have magical powers that they use to try to restore the original artwork that the evil Paint Thinner and Eraser have distorted.
Our heroes meet up with Hansel and Gretel, Jack (of the beanstalk), and Cinderella. Since they themselves have become two-dimensional, the comic book world looks natural to them. But they soon discover that there are different physical laws in this land of two dimensions. By turning anything - or anyone - on its side, it disappears from sight, but is still there. Learning these new laws is challenging but necessary to survive.
Everyone aims at a "happily ever after", but not everyone achieves it. These kids' mission is to help everyone attain it. Since no one back home wants them, or even misses them, they are in no hurry to return to the land of three dimensions. Besides, they love being guided by The Great Artist who helps them along the way.

    Smart and spirited tale
The evil Lord Reginald rules his lands with a cruel eye and greedy fist. Yet he lusts after the legendary treasures he believes are hidden deep within the stone fortress of Bennington Abbey. So he plots to capture the Abbey, drive out the monks and keep the land and treasure for himself.
Plucky, thirteen-year old Willie Reed lives with his father in a hut along the creek on Reginald's land. They are so poor he is forced to steal bread from the Abbey. When Brother Andrew catches him, he offers Willie a chance to redeem himself. The monks know that Lord Reginald is planning to capture the Abbey. They enlist Willie as their spy. Caught with the stolen bread in his hands, and preferring his freedom over the cloistered monastery life, Willie has no choice but to accept their offer.
Thus begins Willie's sojourn into Kenswolde, Reginald's world of noblemen, servants, banquets, and an army with a secret plan. He quickly finds a friend in Portia, a cook's helper. But how can two young teens ever manage to outwit an army of brave knights to save the Abbey? And what about the hidden treasures?
In "Willie of Bennington Abbey", Rachelle Cox cleverly weaves the magic of earth and spirit into a war of wits combined with a valiant treasure hunt. Think Robin Hood meets the DaVinci Code. Thirteenth century England comes alive with adventure in this smart and spirited tale, with plenty of twists and turns to keep young readers turning the pages.
    Willie of Bennington Abbey
This is the story of a medieval boy's adventure to help protect the local abbey from the greedy aims of the local lord. Willie is a mischevious but kind hearted boy with a penchant for slinking around. But he isn't good enough to escape the clutches of a firm but understanding monk.
Thus starts the tale of Willie's intercession in a plan to sieze the abbey for the personal gain of Lord Reginald. Willie enlists the help of one of the girls in the castle to spy on the lord's meeting with his knights and learns their plans to take the abbey by force. Willie escapes back to the abbey to tell the monks all about it. He even helps helps the monks thwart the attack while maintaining their wishes to do so without fighting and doing real harm. And in the process, he helps the abbey discover the truth about an ancient tale of treasure.
This is a quick moving book that is sure to entice young readers. The dialogue between characters draws you into the period and gives a good glimpse into that time. It is a good read for boys and girls alike.

The funniest kid in fiction is back, and he's got a lot to shout about!
Hi there. So I've joined a band with Jess and this new kid, Kevin, who is pretty annoying but also a really talented guitar player. We've got a good shot at winning the Battle of the Bands competition for our school as long as Kevin doesn't get expelled first.
But here's the thing: my dad has this crazy idea to take me, my mum, my evil sister and my twin brothers sailing round the world. For two years! Swimming with dolphins and scuba diving would be pretty cool, but how am I meant to reach rock stardom if I'm stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean?
Good luck and have fun. Harry Riddles.

Suspicious, they follow a stranger and find the situation is far worse than they could have imagined. Betty Inman Shortt transports readers back to 1950's rural America for an adventure with many twists and harrowing situations. With humor as well as suspense, she shows that girls can be strong, witty, and clever, and illustrates a stark contrast between good and evil.
    Members Reviews:
A lively tale that tells the of of twins, Betty and Beverly, who have a "Special Power"that allows them to snif out danger.
What starts as the special treat of going out for lunch at the local cafe, turns into a great adventure for the feisty young Inman twins, Betty and Beverly. The twins certainly have a knack for getting themselves into hot water. Even the kind that is dangerously boiling.
You see, the girls had something different and special about them. Was it an overdeveloped intuitive power? Was it telepathy, or ESP? No one really believed any of this was true, except maybe their Grandfather. As they sat in the only café in the small town of Sparta, Missouri, they both sensed there was something going wrong with their Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Clemens, who was sitting in the corner of the cafe with a much younger, handsome stranger.
The girls knew that their sense of danger for Mrs. Clemens was not caused by being overly curious, as their adored mother thought. They looked at each other, and without words, agreed that they had to help their friend.
The twins are about to meet the diabolical duo of Clint and Ruth. The tale told here is one which will cause the hair to rise up on your head when the girls are in the clutches of the evil Ruth, and her hapless sidekick, Clint. Then you will roll with laughter when the flipped out twins cross a putrid pig sty while trying to escape from their ruthless nemesis!
What happens in this exciting adventure will make this book a totally amazing page turner for grade school children as well as adults.
I highly recommend the book for all ages
Since I grew up in the same area and went to the same school as the Inman twins, I can relate to the names of the people, the towns, and the general farm environment portrayed in the story. Of course, the story line is fiction, but everything else is fact, or close to it. Betty and Beverly were one year behind me in school, and I helped my stepfather haul the milk from their dairy to Springfield. When I started reading the book, I didn't know what to expect, especially since the story was written for juvenile audiences. The plot held my interest all the way through, and I finished the book at one setting. I highly recommend the book for all ages.
    Fun!
This is a great adventure for pre-teens and adults alike. Amidst the fun, there are lessons for using our minds, using skills, trusting adults and caring for others. The tension of being afraid for the twins lives are relieved with laugh-out loud comical scenes. I am sure everyone's favorite is the pig pen. Please tell me this is the first of a series of adventures for these twins.
    The Inman Twins
This book is like The Bobbsey Twins meets Nancy Drew.

    A fun read
The author does a great job of keeping the action moving. It's an exciting plot with a lot of fun thrown in.
    Incredible
Move over "Goosebumps" here comes something meatier. Benny Alano hits a bullseye with this fantastic children's book. The way he pulls off the 1st person, present tense is nothing less than incredible. The story starts strong, builds and builds until the explosive conclusion. Once you finish, you won't know what hit you. You'll reopen and read it again and again. Every time I say the name "Yeti Booger" my kids bust up laughing. "Hand Puppet Horror" is a welcome edition to any nightstand and gets a strong 5 stars from this reader.
    Ah-Mazing!
I loved this book! My Christmas shopping just got easier! I've made sure each of my neices and nephews got a copy! This book was amazing and funny, with an ending that makes you jump! I can't wait for the next book to come out! Benny Alano did a fantastic job and creating a story that is not only orginal, but halariously captivating! I've suggested it to all of my friends with kids; finally reading is no longer a chore and if they had books like this when I was younger, I would of spent more time reading!
    hysterical!!!!
I bought this as a gift for a friend's but read it first and I must say I wanted to keep it!!! It was so funny. His mom also loved it. Now if only we would let the poor kid read it! Honestly this book is prefect to share with your kid. It's not gonna give them nightmares but it will encourage them to read as its fun and entertaining!
Two words: Yeti Booger! Two more words: Is Awesome!
    Yeti Booger!!!
The name of Benny Alano's bad guy in his new middle grade book, Hand Pupper Horror, describes perfectly the tongue-in-cheek tone of this rip-snorting romp through a great, fun and quick read for kids of all ages. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading, even through the "scariest" parts, and no doubt your kids will, too.
The illustrations by Jessica Geis add a whole other level to this tale. There are two in particular I loved; one where we see Yeti Booger from behind as he's staring up at some trees and the last picture on the last page of the story (I don't want to give it away).
Combined, author and illustrator have come together to share something truly unique and original in Hand Puppet Horror!

The Delightfully Spooky Adventures of Lizzy and Daniel
It's been a while since I was sucked in to a ghost story written for children, but I am completely taken with Charlotte Bloomfield's "Corridor of Doors". Tagging along for the adventures of Lizzy and her friend Daniel in the world of ghosts and spirits is delightful. The author's fabulous imagination takes us along on a ride that is full of surprising twists and turns as we are introduced to fantastic characters, spooky, creepy, good, and not so good, but ever entertaining. Kids are sure to enjoy this wonderful adventure and so will their parents. Highly recommended!
    spooky, but not too scary
When Lizzie's parents buy Woodland Lodge Hotel, she is hopeful that the move will transform their lives. It certainly transforms hers, but not in the way she was expecting, as she soon discovers the hotel is haunted. Together with Daniel, a boy she befriends via an old mirror, Lizzie embarks on an amazing adventure. The children venture into the corridor of doors, discovering that there are some rather unpleasant things lurking out there in the unknown - the dark kingdom, the creeper and the soul collector, not to mention his nasty veinlings! Will the two friends ever find their way back home again? This is a spooky tale which never gets too scary, so is perfect for those of a nervous disposition who are looking for some excitement without it giving them nightmares!
    Enjoyable
When Lizzie moves to live in a hotel her father has just bought, she finds herself surrounded by ghosts. A magic mirror puts her in touch with Daniel and together they embark on a series of adventures, fighting baddies including the Soul Collector who preys on the dead. If your child has never read a ghost story before, start with this one. It will scare him/her but not too much.
    Another chilling story for children
The writer has a gift for drawing the reader into her world with just the right balance between human warmth and scary stuff in her latest novel. Lizzie and Daniel start off having fun playing ghosts but fun turns into fear when they learn about the Creeper and the Soul Collector of the Dark Kingdom. Lizzie is one brave little girl!
    Ghosts and Mystery
This is an entertaining book full of ghosts and mystery. Lizzie and Daniel are thrown into a supernatural adventure to save the souls of the good. They travel through mirrors into places filled with ghosts and become hunted by the soul collector. Children who like to read about ghosts will enjoy this book.
