Publisher's Summary:

His parent's recent divorce, his father's hasty remarriage, his brother's moving away for college, leave Andrew Tibbet in a desperate whirlwind of emotions. Using revenge as his weapon of choice, he sets out to destroy his family emotionally and financially. Psychologist, Allyson Freemont, comes to understand the boy's anger and frustration when she learns the disturbing truth about what's been happening behind closed doors.

Members Reviews:

A fictional family? No, not really.

Dr. Allen pragmatically presents the story of a family in distress from the perspective of the professionals who try to sort things out. A bit like a police procedural, without a murder. The story of Andrew rings so true you understand immediately that the author has lived this experience. Parents will readily be able to think of several teens who seemed to suddenly go off the rails...this story unfolds with a sensitive telling of one teen's story.

Powerful read

This story shows how family dynamics, affect the kids after a divorce. One spouse does things to hurt the other. Father does things that hurt his sons. The actions have consequences. Father is an arrogant, selfish jerk. IMHO.

Dr. Valerie Allen is a masterful storyteller.

The book has twists and turns, complete with surprises. It is unfortunate that this dysfunctional family could be one of many that exists in our society today. Thankfully, there are counselors dedicated to helping children regain their self-esteem and learn to cope with life's inequities. A teenager seeking his/her role among peers doesn't need family problems to compound the issue. Cyber bullying is also brought to the forefront. Although the book is a work of fiction. it will resonate with teenagers, as well as parents. Life isn't fair. Actions of parents can have devastating effects on their children.

Darren and Isabella may have a few unethical ways, but always in a good way. Once again I loved this book and already have the next book downloaded. I hope Jonathan Watkins keeps writing.

According to legend, the Cross of Trismegitus holds a sliver of crystal called "Salt Vitam Aeternam"; The Salt of Eternal Life. This makes it more than just a pretty bauble to Istenhegyi. If it is a twin of the crystal that granted the Lombardi sisters immortality, he could use it to avoid their fate: turning to stone in a hundred years.

If it there is only a slim possibility that the Salt exists, he has to take that chance. Unfortunately, Jake doesn't know that waiting for him deep in the dark bayou is his oldest enemy. But first, Jake Istenhegyi has to cope with a surprise visit from home, clear his name for the murder of an Irish boxer, and continue the façade of Gunn Investigations, keeping the death of Bear Gunn a secret from Mama Effie and the mysterious owners of the Odyssey Shop.

Who knew what trouble could come from answering a simple classified ad? Find out in Jake Istenhegyi, The Accidental Detective, featuring the new digest novel Boo Daddies, Bogs and a Dead Man's Booty as well as the first two Accidental Detective stories - A Chick, a Dick, and a Witch Walk into a Barn and Golems, Goons, and Cold Stone Bitches. Surprisingly Good

If you could sum up Jake Istenhegyi: The Accidental Detective, Volume 1 in three words, what would they be?

Action, Mystery, Suspenseful

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is Jake, because he is constantly surprising the reader. Even when you think he has no place to turn he he figures it out.

What about Ron Welchs performance did you like?

I really liked how he was able to change voices so often while keeping them consistent. He is very easy to understand and always has an uplifting voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Accidental but Great!

Any additional comments?

I would definitely listen to more of this story and this narrator.

Be A Little Cautious

What did you like best about Jake Istenhegyi: The Accidental Detective, Volume 1? What did you like least?

This title should have theoretically been right up my alley. I was looking for two elements: a) period detective action ala noir, and b) a supernatural element. The storyline delivered, but the money shot -- the initial horror reveal, was disturbingly graphic when read at two in the morning. It frankly put me off the rest of the story, and I've not finished it.

Do you think Jake Istenhegyi: The Accidental Detective, Volume 1 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The character shows promise, but I'd be leery of another read if it plays out like this one.

Titre: Le Groupe W (Largo Winch 1)

Auteur: Jean Van Hamme

Narrateur: Michel Gregori

Format: Unabridged

Durée: 9 hrs and 58 mins

Langue: Français

Date de publication: 01-08-16

Éditeur: SonoBook

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense

Fast moving story

This book was good from start to finish. It was fast moving. It began in Alaska and ended on a remote island in the South Pacific. The characters were very likable. I enjoyed it very much.

NOT VERY GOOD . . .

I usually don't like to write negative reviews because I know how much time and effort authors put into writing thier books, but felt I had to on this one. Where to start . . . the characters are flat and one-dimensional. They're not fleshed out at all and you don't get to know them or even care about them. Sometimes you have to suspend belief when you're reading a story but the things that happen in this book are beyond ridiculous. The writing is amateurish at best. I couldn't even finish the book and stopped reading it part-way through. I'd give this one a pass.

Great story

Would like to read a follow-up to this story. Kit is a strong writer and I loved the story line along with the characters.

a very good adventure

A lot of twist and turns, this adventure has. You will be entertained.

There are a few editing mistakes one should fix. But it not a distraction

On reading the story, you will like it.

Fascinating adventure!

It opens the reader to a whole new world that is fascinating and intriguing. It is well researched and well written and I look forward to reading some more.

Title: Daniel's Fork

Subtitle: A Mystery Set in the Daniel's Fork Universe

Author: Zeecé Lugo

Narrator: Cathy Burnham Martin

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 hrs and 47 mins

Language: English

Release date: 12-15-15

Publisher: Zeec? Lugo

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense

Publisher's Summary:

When spurned suitor Alex Neville swears to the lovely Susanna, "They'll keep on dying. I can wait forever," she knows he is pronouncing a death sentence on every lover she'll ever have. It's no wonder that when the dashing and powerful new lord shows admiration for the beautiful girl, she sees him as the answer to her prayers: a man not easily killed.

Will Evers, new lord of Daniel's Fork, detests the village "witch", as he calls Setiyah, the healer. She has declared him the "wrong man for the job", quickly becoming the thorn in his side. At the town pub, he meets and romances the lovely Susanna, thereby becoming the target of her murderous suitor. Drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse, Evers soon realizes the magnitude of the cunning evil he faces. Determined to catch the vicious killer, the handsome lord is forced to seek the help of the "dratted witch", as he sets a trap to catch a cunning killer, using himself as bait!

Set in a future where our technology has disappeared and humanity lives once again by the light of torch and hearth, this postapocalyptic, dystopian mystery is a real genre bender. Written in light, flowing prose, it blends humor, eroticism, mystery, romance, and science fiction into one highly entertaining story.

This novel contains some strong sexual content not suitable for younger listeners and may be offensive to some.
