Nashville private detective Jared McKean has spent most of his 36 years trying to live up to the memory of the father he barely knew.
One day, the body of a young Vietnamese woman is found in Jared's office dumpster clutching a yellowed photo of Jared's father. A few days later, another Vietnamese woman, Khanh, appears on Jared's doorstep claiming to be his half-sister and begging him to help find her missing daughter, Tuyet. Still reeling from the revelation of his father's secret life, Jared reluctantly agrees.
It's clear that Tuyet's path must have crossed the dead girl's, but when and how? While the police have their hands full with a renegade bomber, Jared and Khanh form an uneasy alliance, following the trail into the violent world of human trafficking - a world that few who enter ever leave.

Jaden Terrell's RIVER OF GLASS, a Rare Treat for Readers
Jaden Terrellâs latest Jared McKean novel, RIVER OF GLASS, takes the reader through the dark corridors of human trafficking while also nesting us within Jaredâs life. Our favorite characters are back, such as little Paulie, Jaredâs son, whose Downâs Syndrome is only a small part of the wonderful little boy. Jay, Jaredâs gay roommate is ever willing to contribute to Jaredâs cases no matter how difficult that contribution might be. Mariaâ, Jaredâs x-wife, and her dull-as-dirt new husband are still together, even though Maria is obviously still in love with Jarred. Terrell introduces a new character in RIVER, Thanh, an Asian woman whose scars tell of a tough life, makes her way to America to find her missing daughter whom she fears may have been taken by human traffickers. Thanh is a stranger to Jared and yet their connection turns out to be deep and abiding.
RIVER OF GLASS has the same deft characterization weâve seen in Terrellâs other two novels, RACING THE DEVIL and A CUP FULL OF MIDNIGHT, but this time the Terrell magic is worked in a foreign culture and yet, Thanh is as clearly and deeply drawn as the others.
Terrell plays fair so the reader can always see the logic in the twist, but in RIVER, the twist is so unexpected, it left this reader breathless.
If you are, as I am, a die-hard fan of this excellent writer, donât miss RIVER OF GLASS. If youâve yet to enjoy the experience of reading Terrellâs work, you are in for a rare treat.
Underdogs unite, with nothing to lose but their stains
Sometimes a novel comes along which urgently needed to be written. Jaden Terrell, a sensitive mystery writer who appreciates the plight of those unnoticed disabled, maimed, and diseased members of our society, has neatly filled this niche.
When private investigator Jared McKean learns the body of a young Asian woman has been found in his office dumpster clutching a photo his late father, a Vietnamese woman and a small child, he is embroiled in an intrigue which sadly reveals his childhood hero had led a double life. Soon the half-sister he has never met arrives at his door.
