- Real de Catorce, Mexico, another mining town that can only be accessed via an underground tunnel and is a pilgrimage place for Huichol people and Christians.

- Villa Epecuén, Argentina, a lakeside resort that was submerged and spent 2 decades under salty water, until the water withdrew and revealed an eerie landscape.
