  • 118. Treehouse of Horror!

This is the first of a monthly series on GHOULISH wherein Max BOOOoooth and Andrew HELLbent watch a Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons and then talk about it. In today's first episode, our conversation consists of haunted houses, the possibility of aliens, what exactly are blackholes, how commercial space travel will destroy humanity, why removing one minute from newer episodes of The Simpsons ruined everything, and whether or not "The Raven" is actually any good.

  • 117. Horror Movie Novelizations with Tim Waggoner!

Tim Waggoner recently published the novelization for Halloween Kills, so I invited him onto the podcast to discuss the process of writing a movie novelization. And, because my friend Miguel Myers (host of My Horror Confessional) is the biggest Halloween fan I know, I felt obligated to allow him to guest co-host the episode with me. It's a fun time! Don't listen if you haven't seen Halloween Kills, as we dig deep into spoiler territory.

  • 114. A Very Ghoulish Road Trip! (Day Two)

    DAY TWO

Recently I was invited by the Alamo Drafthouse in Katy, TX to do a Q&A following a special screening of WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING, so I convinced my friend Miguel Myers to tag along on a road trip from Austin to Houston. Along the way we ate barbecue in Lockhart, breakfast at Snappy's, and explored The Gas Station from the original TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. I also felt compelled to bring a voice recorder for our entire journey and created a fun little podcast experience out of the trip. Enjoy!

  • 112. Horror Movie Production Design with Amy Williams!

Amy Williams is an Emmy-winning production designer. Her work can be found on hit shows like Crashing and Master of None. Recently she designed a horror movie bathroom for my new movie, We Need to Do Something, so naturally I had to get her on the podcast to discuss what went into producing such a bizarre set. We also get a bit into spoiler territory and talk about all the fun occult easter eggs hidden in the bathroom.

  • 111. Video Nasties with George Daniel Lea!

George Daniel Lea (author of Born in Blood) is the antithesis to everything the infamous conservative activist Mary Whitehouse represented. In today's episode of GHOULISH, we do a deep dive into the video nasty controversy of the 1980s, analyzing the true intentions of censorship and how such a moral outrage might have impacted the horror genre overall. Stay tuned for the end of the podcast, where we play the full audio from an episode of OPEN TO QUESTION, featuring Clive Barker answering several bizarre questions from Scottish teens. You can also watch the video here.
