Christina was born and raised in Raleigh NC and graduated high school early to attend Paul Mitchell the School of Raleigh to pursue her dreams in the beauty industry. She has always been a girly girl and knew this was the type of career she wanted to be in from day one! But like most business owners she had to overcome some adversity and deal with some setbacks. It was all about how he treated his customers and he gave them the best experience. So, with my girls, it's my job is to take care of them and their job is to take care of the staff or of the clients. So if I'm not taking care of my girls properly, how can I expect them to take care of the clients?"

  • Business Coach, Speaker & Author Katia Rave

The major part of business prosperity starts with inspiration towards your vision, your dreams. You must envision your why to the vision and then work backward from that dream. I can attest to this from her own experience.

Katia has an amazing podcast called Rave with Katia Rave.

"I am not going to apologize for winning just because other people around me are losing." - Katia

We talk about the importance of your vision for your life (your life's mission) matching your values.

There are two kinds of people. There are people who want success because of power. So it's more of an ego thing. And then you have people who want success because they know them. The success is going to really help them to achieve their dream, to be able to give back to the community, to be able to do all these things, then they wanted to do so.

We also need to examine where is that success and security are driven from.  Is driven by the ego? Or are we driven to success by our desire for a meaningful community?

Katia shares her amazing and inspiring entrepreneurial journey. You're not going to want to miss this story about failures and triumphs in a practical and candid story of following her passion and not conventional norms.

There are so many talented creative people who are making amazing work and they know what to do but no one teaches them how to do. This led Katia to develop a passion for teaching people how to be successful in business and not just at their individual skills.

We talked about the importance of not waiting until your work is perfect to send it out.

  • Alicia Journey - Lawyer and Advocate on Overcoming Burnout

    Alicia shares her story:

There I was—a rock star attorney with my own law firm—whose personal life was in total disarray.

Perhaps I wasn’t cut out to be a lawyer after all… but it was all I had ever wanted.

By the time I hit 30 I had hit a wall. I was exhausted inside and out. I had pushed myself to the limits physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

I had been fighting my way to the top. Been fighting for the rights of victims and my clients. Been taking on the weight of the world and I felt like I was being crushed under the weight of it.

Make no mistake—I loved being a lawyer. In many ways, I was built for it. I hustled hard, aimed high, and took no guff from anyone. I spoke my mind and stood up for myself. And though I could play the game like a man, I advocated for women, victims, and justice, as so many struggles to find their rightful place at the top.

In the span of 3 years, I spent more time in hospitals being analyzed, tested, and assessed than most people do in their adult life.

My health had become a part-time job (and some years, my full-time job), and my body had become a story about injury, illness, disease, diagnosis, being different, not belonging, not being enough, not being capable, and most definitely NOT being strong.

As you can imagine, this led to a lot of soul-searching. I knew something had to change, but I didn’t know what.

My wake-up call came when I was diagnosed with uterine cancer.

When I got the diagnosis I was at peace. It felt so good to know there was finally an answer and a path. But it was only the beginning.

And I knew at that moment two things.

One, I was never going to betray my body as I had for the first 30 years by not listening when it was telling me something.

    Which lead me to…

Two, it was time to let the practice of law go. I LOVED the law. But I was done practicing law in the conventional sense.

It was in the crisis that I found the answers and I knew I wanted to help others in professions similar to mine avoid the same crisis.

Just like the peace of the diagnosis, the peace of that decision washed over me. I felt it in my bones. I knew it the way your blood knows which way to flow, and your heart knows when to pump next.

Now, I could focus on what excites me far more:

Helping high-achieving women and men transform the way they treat themselves, their clients, and the law through the practice of mindfulness, wellness, choosing balance over burnout, and resilience.

  • Traci Philips - Own Your Zone

How do you discover your innate gifts? How do you find out what they are? Traci shares about her process that came from her own life experience. How do you discover your "zone of genius." Zone of Genius is what you were made for, it's the shape of the puzzle piece that is "you" and how you "fit" into the world around you. She asks people to have people ask themselves: What are things that people have said about you over the years that has surprised you?

The irony for many people is that their gift is usually found in an area that they once thought of as a weakness. Traci has always been able to spot incongruencies, even as a child. But no one likes to be called out as an adult by a child and this would often result in her getting in "trouble" for what she perceived as speaking the truth. Now her discernment and visionary qualities are the backbone of her business.

Sarah shares the story of her first time she realized what her innate gift and how once she realized now she had all this evidence throughout her life supporting it and how it has created a grounded confidence that she can be in alignment with that and that allows her to serve on a whole other level.

Everything you tell yourself as a story. Right? All our reality is our perception. So why don't you come up with a story that works for you instead of against you? - Traci Philips

Question? Why do I have all of the trappings of success that you would expect and I still internally don't feel filled?

Answer: You're operating from your zone of excellence (your resume and accomplishments), not your zone of genius (who you are innately). You've told yourself this is how you're supposed to show up, as opposed to actually showing up as who you are. Because the only way you can feel fulfilled is if you are being who you are.

I think a lot of people think of self-worth and confidence is one and the same and they're distinctly different. So when people say, how can I be confident and not arrogant? I answer that the arrogance piece is more tied to self-worth than it is confidence.

Confidence is often just doing it enough times, you'll be confident.

  • Deb Mathias - Pivot don't pause your business

The reason Deb first joined LinkedIn was during the stock market crash of 2008, soon after she was asked to talk about social media at a networking event. She just started talking about what she had been doing on LinkedIn. This led to a passion for training. She has spent years crafting her skills and now trains others on how to be LinkedIn experts.

She will be releasing a new two-hour Virtual networking with LinkedIn training on April 20th to address the issues of what's happening in our job market due to COVID-19. To help people understand how to continue to bring business in the door during uncertain times. And the way to do that is to build your relationships online because we're all virtual now. This has never been more relevant.

This is the time when you need to pivot. Whatever your business.

Deb shares her amazing story of becoming a race car driver with her husband. In the last race of the season, she got tagged. That accident jarred a tumor loose in her body and caused her to find her breast cancer early and beat it.

"Call it what you want, but always look at the brighter side of life, or don't ever look straight ahead and have blinders zone. Take your blinders off and look at the big picture and go, what positive can I take from this?" - Deb

What is the key to a 30-year marriage and love story like Deb's? She says it's simple; marry your best friend. We also talked about a study done that found that couples with extreme height differences were happier than couples of similar heights.
