Dolores Lorette is a comedian, artist and mother. I met her as a very young starting comedian when she was doing a solo show called "From Earth Mother to MILF". A decade later and she's still more or less the same person I once knew except that in those years she has developed a notorious reputation from her staunch positions on what it is to be a woman. Some know this as Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism, but she calls it Femaleism.
We dive into these murky, dangerous waters but not before getting an understanding of who Dolores is and where she comes from, even touching on the safe grounds of drug policy and logic/critical thinking for children.

Hani Abdile is an award winning poet whose performances have been featured on TV numerous times, including an appearance just recently on ABC's Q+A. Her story is one that is shared by millions of people around the world unfortunately, one of being forced to make the impossible decision to leave the only home she'd ever known for a chance of freedom and safety. The risks she took in her search still surprise even her. She was lucky, but Somalia is still at war, she is still a refugee, and she is never going to turn her back on what that meant. She is grateful, determined and, as cheesy as it is to say, fucking inspirational.

In the spirit of Sydney Mardi Gras 2021, we're looking at the experience of being a trans person and the ongoing fight for trans rights. Mal Brooks is a former top chef at a prestigious Melbourne Women's club and a trans man. He generously opens up about his life and career and all too familiar experiences as a trans man. There is so much we covered, but so much we didn't get to cover and hopefully the conversation doesn't start and finish here.
Happy Queer Christmas to all, and I hope you enjoy this fun and frank conversation.

Ciaran Lyons is an award winning stand-up comedian who found fame and success while he was still in High School. Brought up to always work hard and stay focused he shows no signs of halting or faltering in his rise, but one thing he may not have expected was the activism he has also found. Starring in SBS's doco-drama 'Filthy Rich & Homeless' saw him put into the harsh reality of sleeping rough in Sydney's city streets for 10 days. We talk about that experience, the motivations, the revelations and hopefully, the solutions to the terrifying reality that is homelessness.

The first GYA crossover episode sees Comedian Mitch Garling come on to talk about the not particularly hilarious subject of dead fathers. Mitch's podcast is also relatively young and that's the first of a few similarities between the two.
Everyone grieves differently, and no father/son relationship is the same as you'll find out. I bet you didn't think Avengers:Infinity War would be the movie to make a grown man loudly weep in a movie theatre, or that a eulogy should get a round of applause, but here we are.

Madeleine Stewart is a very talented comedian who happens to be what they call "limb deficient", which makes her an excellent advocate and representative of the disability community. Founder of the monthly comedy show specifically designed for people that almost entirely get ignored from the live comedy scene, Crips & Creeps. In these shows she makes sure the venue is fully accessible whilst also giving a platform for comedians that are differently abled.
We dive headlong into her childhood and the perceptions and misadventures of disability, which we hope you'll enjoy, then go forth with more empathy and curiosity.

Ayden Doherty is a Perth-based Comedian with an award winning Fringe Festival show and a fascinating past. The gender bending aesethic he cultivates and the larger than life personality to match his imposing physique make him utterly unforgettable, but no one is without their demons and his new show explores those things which often go unsaid.
We catch up about comedy and Ayden recounts the casual nature of polyamory orgies, the difference between regular and large sized condoms, what it's like to ask for help and then be committed to an utterly cliche, nightmarish psychiatric facility by 8 police officers.

Evan Desmarais is a Comedian from Canada who usually lives in the UK and tours internationally each year. Due to the pandemic his stay in Australia has been extended to well over a year and he's loving it. Recorded while he was in mandatory quarantine on his way to Perth, WA for the 2021 Fringe Festival he tells us about the headline escape attempt made by one of his fellow residents in the facility, his life growing up in Quebec, how he stays so positive thanks to ignorance and body dysmorphia, and then the tables get turned on me, diving into some raw emotional subject matter.
Catch him live if you're in Perth and keep an eye out for greater WA shows or just give him some love on social media - @EvanComedy
