  • 43 - What Does the Bible Say About Divorce?

Divorce has become a common occurrence in our society, with an estimated 45% of marriages ending in divorce. Even among believers, marriages not only end due to infidelity, but because of financial struggles, lack of commitment and unmet expectations.

But what does the Bible say about divorce? Does God really lead some people to leave their spouse? We’re looking at God’s view of marriage and divorce today, as well as what can help us keep the commitment we’ve made to our husbands.

    Let’s get started

Because of the way our world is today with being careful to look out for ourselves and the desire to be independent. Some women can be afraid to follow God’s calling of becoming a submissive wife. They feel it means they are less worthy, will lose their identity, or merely live in their husband's shadow.

Today we’re ending those fears as we take a look at how following our God-given roles and responsibilities, is not only a part of who we are in Christ, but gives us direction and purpose.

  • 41 ~ Spiritual Warfare in Marriage: Wield the Sword ~ Part 4

Spiritual warfare in marriage requires more than protection. You also have a weapon. And in this final episode of our four-part series, I want to show you how to use it.

We have learned who the enemy is, we have looked at every piece of the armor of God, and now we come to the one offensive weapon God has given us: the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

In this episode you will learn:

    • How Jesus Himself used Scripture to shut down every attack of the enemy — and how you can do the same
    • Why the enemy knows God's Word and will try to twist it against you
    • The one command and the one warning God gives us in Ephesians 6 that we cannot afford to ignore
    • The promise of James 4:7 and what it means for your marriage today
    • If you have walked through this whole series with me, I am so proud of you. You now have everything you need to recognize the enemy's attacks and fight back — God's way.

      Scripture References

      Ephesians 6:14-18

      Matthew 4:1-11

      1 Corinthians 10:13

    • 40 ~ Spiritual Warfare in Marriage: Stand Firm in Peace ~ Part 3

Spiritual warfare in marriage often hits hardest through fear. Fear about your husband. Fear about your future. Fear about whether anything will ever change. In this episode, we are continuing our look at the armor God has given you, and today we are talking about the pieces that directly fight fear and doubt.

We are in Part 3 of our four-part series on the real enemy in your marriage, and today we cover three more pieces of the full armor of God.

The enemy does not want you to have peace. But God has already given it to you. Today I want to help you learn how to receive it and how to use it.

      Let's get started.

In this episode you will learn:

      • How to use the shoes of the gospel of peace to stand firm when anxiety and worry flood your heart
      • What the shield of faith actually does when the enemy throws his lies at you
      • How the helmet of salvation guards your mind and your identity in Christ
      • Start with Episodes 38 and 39 if you are just joining this series.

      • 39 ~ Spiritual Warfare in Marriage: Put On the Armor ~ Part 2

Spiritual warfare in marriage cannot be fought with words, pleading, or your own strength. God has given you something far more powerful and in this episode, we begin learning how to use it.

In Part 1 we talked about who your real enemy is and how he works. Now it is time to go deeper. Today we are starting what I like to think of as a biblical boot camp. A close look at the full armor of God from Ephesians 6, what each piece is, and how to put it on in your daily life.

        Let’s get started.

In this episode you will learn:

        • Why the armor of God is not a quick fix but a way of life
        • The first two pieces of armor — the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness — and exactly how they protect you in your marriage
        • How to recognize when the enemy is trying to use the things of this world to pull you away from God's truth
        • This is Part 2 of a four-part series. Start with Episode 38 if you have not listened yet.

          Scripture References

          Ephesians 6:12-13

          1 Peter 5:8

          Ephesians 6:14-18

          Proverbs 3:1-8

          Proverbs 4:4-5

          Proverbs 4:23-27

        • 38 ~ Spiritual Warfare in Marriage: Know Your Enemy ~ Part 1

Spiritual warfare in marriage is real! And once you understand who your enemy truly is, everything changes. In this first episode of a four-part series, I want to help you see that the battle you are facing in your marriage is not against your husband. It is against an unseen enemy who is relentless, cunning, and after your marriage.

When I finally learned about Satan and his tactics, it changed everything for me. He is not content to leave you alone. He is actively looking for any crack in your armor to feed you lies about yourself, about your husband, and about God.

In this episode you will learn:

          • Who the enemy is and where he came from
          • The specific tactics he uses to create doubt, fear, and division in your marriage
          • Why God has not left you without protection
          • This is the foundation you need before we walk through the armor of God together in the next three episodes.

We all have things that we've done or said in our past, that we are not particularly proud of. Even though we've asked the Lord for forgiveness, they still seem to crop up in our minds, causing us to doubt our faith, if we're truly forgiven and who we are in Christ.

          • 36 ~ Why Your Husband May Not Show the Love You Desire & How to Change It

We all come into a marriage with preconceived notions as to what it will be like. What our daily lives will be like, how our husbands love us, etc.

However somewhere along the line, we realize that our expectations are not being met. Our husband doesn't show the love we desire and we wonder why and how to change it.

          • 35 ~ Why the First Years of Marriage Can Be So Hard & How to Make Them Easier

Many couples who have been married a while ask, why does marriage have to be so hard? Why does it feel like such work and is it worth it?

Marriage can be difficult, as you take two people, from different backgrounds and throw them together into one house, 24/7 to essentially duke out their differences. It’s no wonder that some find their marriage to be a struggle in the beginning.

Some marriages seem to get stuck here and the struggles go on for years. Leading to either a miserable marriage or divorce.

Today I’m sharing what I learned during those years. Why it’s hard, why the process is necessary and some tips to make it a little easier.

            Let’s get started.

            Scripture References

            Ephesians 5:22-25, 28-29

          • 34 ~ First Steps to a Christian Marriage and Becoming a Submissive Wife

Many of us have dreamed of the perfect marriage and being the perfect wife. But if you’re like me, it wasn’t long before you realized that you had no clue how to make that happen or where to even start.

In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve learned the first steps are to the Christian marriage we've dreamed of and becoming the submissive wife we want to be.

No matter where you are in your marriage, these first steps are vital and needed throughout your married life.

            Let’s get started.

            Scripture References

            Psalms 119:1-2

            Ephesians 4:14-15

            Hebrews 11:6

            2 Timothy 3:16-17

            Deuteronomy 7:9

            2 Corinthians 5:17

            1 Corinthians 2:5

            APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
            1. When you look back over the past 5 years do you see spiritual growth in your life? Why or why not? What is holding you back, what do you need to change so you can begin to grow?
          • Are you pursuing sound biblical doctrine? How is the preaching at your church? Are you being taught passages of scripture or is the Bible barely opened during the service? What about your Bible study, books you are reading or podcast you are listening to? Is what is being taught based on biblical principles or someone’s opinion on the subject
          • How’s your faith? Are you trusting in God or self? Do you trust the Lord to be faithful and that He alone has the wisdom that can truly change your life?
          • Where does your power to change come from? Do you think that if you work hard enough you can do by yourself? Or when you are weak, do you rely on the power God to work in your life?
