Lisa and I have been social media friends for over five years. Together we fight the battle to bring voice and victory around issues of childhood sexual crimes. We hope to bring power to those that were abused, strength and alertness to world at large.

At just 4 years old, Charlie was abused by an 18-year-old neighbor, and it shaped his world. With an absentee father and a stoic, unemotional mother, Charlie searched for love in all the wrong places. He struggled with his identity andchoices that felt like traps, shaping a narrative of homosexuality and promiscuity that often felt like he was living a lie. At 7 years old Charlie began a sexual relationship with an older boy (9) for many, many years --keeping the secret he'd been taught at 4 quiet. He enlists in the Navy,finds himself deep in the homosexual world of San Diego in the late 60s/early 70s. Charlie struggles to be "normal" and eventually falls in love and gets married but continued this hidden lifestyle for the first 10 years of his marriage.

But here’s the question that lingers: Was he predestined to stay this way?

What does the bible say about this? Said another way we could ask, "Do I pay for the sins of my parents?"

Sometimes we believe we had a choice in the abuse. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We discuss what it felt like for us, we share stories of starting the journey of healing by moving away from families of incest, and what new traditions we created and how we've made it through.

Sonni and Bob Wilson join me in this episode t discuss their nonprofit. Sonni also share her story of abuse growing up and how empowered her to move in this direction to help.

They work with churchs on policy and procedures on how to watch for predators in church environments. They hope to bring technology for facial recognition so pedophiles cannot move from church to church unnoticed.

Latarsha has joined me before. She gave birth to her father's child in her senior year at 18 year olds. She raised him keeping the secret hidden until she was about 40 years old (you can listen to her entire story in an earlier episode).

In this interview we talk about how she "knew the church" but didn't have the intimacy with Jesus that she needed. She stepped away from ministry to catch the spirit of God and moved deeper into relationship with him.

We all need to remember that God didn't hurt us, the Spirit of Religion did.
