Hosea's marriage to Gomer became a "living parable," illustrating the unconditional love God has for His people. This episode looks at Jonah 4:1-11. This passage picks up the story of Jonah immediately after the prophet has preached to the wicked city of Nineveh. Unfortunately, Jonah is angry with God because Jonah knows God is going to show mercy on the Ninevites, the enemies of Israel. Jonah is ok with God showing mercy on him and his people, but he just can't handle the idea of his enemies experiencing God's mercy. We learn from this lesson that we must not begrudge God for showing mercy on others because we need God's mercy at all times.

This episode looks at Amos 3:1-7. In this passage, the prophet Amos is addressing the Children of Israel and warning them of coming judgment because of their sins. He reminds them that every choice has its consequences and sin brings judgment. However, the hope in this passage is found in the fact that God speaks through His prophets in order to bring warning so that HIs people turn to the Lord in repentance. We learn from this lesson that we must heed the preached Word of God.

This episode looks at Revelation 3:14-22. In this passage, the Lord addresses the church in Laodicea. Immediately the Lord shows His displeasure because the church at Laodicea has become blinded by worldly pursuits and does not recognize the error of their ways. Yet through His loving rebuke, the Lord patiently calls for them to repent. His love is depicted through a word picture describing Him standing at the door at knocking; simply showing His desire to come in to them and heal their broken relationship with Him. We learn from this lesson that we must open the door of our lives and choose unbroken fellowship with Jesus.

This episode looks at II Corinthians 12:9 and Revelation 3:7-13. In Revelation 3:7-13, the Lord addresses the church in Philadelphia. They are commended for their works and God tells them He has set before them an open door. Additionally, He mentions that they have "little strength." However, we find out that it is ok to have little strength. In fact, God does well working with people who have little strength. We learn from this lesson that if we will endure, the Lord will be our strength and help.

This episode looks at Romans 13:11-12, Ephesians 5:14, and Revelation 3:1-6. These passages reveal three different themes we discuss in this episode: 1. Being Awake, 2. Being Watchful, and 3. Being Clothed in White. It is interesting to compare the similarities between being asleep physically and asleep spiritually. Why should we stir ourselves to be awake? Why should we be watchful? Truly our spiritual survival is at stake because our adversary does his best to seek out the vulnerable. We learn from this lesson that we must stay awake and watchful in order to overcome the enemy of our souls.

This episode looks at Revelation 2:18-29. In this passage, the Lord speaks to the church at Thyatira. He commends them for their works, faith, and patience, but calls them out on their tolerance of an evil prophetess named Jezebel. Though the Lord had given her a space to repent, this woman refused and is now facing judgment. The Lord's plea with the church at Thyatira is to remove themselves from this evil influence and seek forgiveness. God in His mercy always gives us a "space" to repent and we must take advantage of that moment by seeking the Lord while He may be found. We learn from this lesson that we must overcome sin instead of trying to live with it.

Happy Easter! This episode looks at Matthew 28:1-9. In this passage, we find Mary Magdalene and "the other" Mary (Matt 28:1) on their way to the tomb where Jesus had been placed. But while they were coming, a great earthquake shook the ground. An angel descended and rolled the stone away, and the soldiers guarding the tomb fainted, or as the Bible says, they "did shake, and became as dead men." Upon hearing the news of Jesus' resurrection, the women left to tell the disciples what had happened. And when they left, we are told they departed "with fear and great joy." How can these two things co-exist? We talk about that on this episode. We learn from this lesson that if we will press on through fear, joy will win in the end.

This episode looks at Revelation 2:12-18. In this passage, the Lord addressed the church of Pergamos. Pergamos was an idolatrous city and housed a place the Lord referred to as "Satan's Seat." And in the midst of such a wicked city, God still had a church that remained faithful. However, the Lord called them to repentance because of some inconsistencies. This was so that they could serve God more faithfully and as the lesson declares, so they could "Cling to Righteousness." We learn from this lesson that we must cling to righteousness no matter the evil influence around us.

The city of Smyrna was hostile toward Christians and the Lord mentions the persecution they have been and will be facing. He then encourages them with two important admonitions, both of which we should take note of: 1. Fear none of those things and 2. Be thou faithful. This podcast discusses these admonitions. We learn from this lesson that we must remain faithful no matter the persecution we face.
