For today's episode, I sat down with Professor Stephen Landes from the University of Rhode Island to talk about media. Mass media, social media and other forms of this communication and the effects it has had on our society and culture from both a historical standpoint and in the present.
This is the second and final part of my interview with Katie Manley, a veteran of the medical field, with over twenty years of experience. In this conclusion, we talk about COVID and its impact on hospitals around the country. Katie has a unique perspective on this matter, having worked in several ER's and her current position as a Flight Nurse, transporting patients all over the country.
Now more than ever, our medical professionals face challenges and dangers beyond what many of us can truly understand. My guest today is Katie Manley. Though she is my age, Katie has been in the medical field for 20 years. She has worked in Emergency Rooms around the country and is currently a Flight Nurse and Paramedic. I think it's important we hear and understand just what these incredible humans are faced with and how we as regular citizens might help them.
SEASON PREMIERE: Welcome to Season 3! For this first episode of the new season, I'm talking environmental contamination and its effects on the environment at large, as well as our local communities. Summer is an Enivronmental Scientist at Brown University as well as a graduate of the school. She also holds a degree at the University of Rhode Island and is pursuing another, which is how we met. This episode is more of an educational and informative one, less on the political side.
NEW EPISODES START NEXT WEEK!
Flashback: Back in Season 2, I sat down with Dietician Adrianne Delgado to talk health and wellness and to answer the question, how healthy are we really?

Season 3 starts January 16! Flashback- This episode came on the heels of the election and Jan. 6 fallout. I had an honest, raw conversation about our two-party system. At this point, is it doing more harm than good? We also covered social media and 24-hour cable news networks. Again, honest talks like this are why I started the podcast. It's important we can talk to people who don't see eye to eye with us on difficult topics without judgement or rudeness. There's enough of that going around these days.
Happy holidays everyone! Today's flashback episode was a conversation between myself and old military friend, Tyler C. We covered the election fallout, the January chaos at the capital building and touched on the riots which broke out last summer. Honest, open conversations like this are why this podcast exists. We need to be able to communicate what we are really feeling to one another in an unfiltered, yet adult and respectful manner. It is only through this openness that we grow as a society.
Perhaps my favorite interview of Season 1, for this flashback episode I was honored to sit down with Dr. William Unger for a heavy interview about PTSD and similar trauma. Dr. Unger works for the Providence VA Health Care System in the Trauma Recovery Service. He has worked there for 32 years. He is also a VA consultant and trainer for Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Psychotherapy for PTSD and an Associate Clinical Professor at Brown University.
Dr. Unger has also served as the PTSD Clinic Clinical Director for 8 years and as the Chief of the PTSD Clinic for 16 years.

For this flashback from Season 1, I sat down with Tyrone Smith, Director of Employment & Housing for Operation Standown. OSD is a statewide agency that assists veterans in need of assistance, especially in the areas of housing and employment. For the holidays, I think it's important to highlight those giving to help others, especially our vets.
Operation Standown services Rhode Island, Southern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut. However, if you are not in this area and need assistance, please reach out to him regardless. If Mr. Smith and O.S.D. cannot help you, they will point you to someone who can.

Another Season 1 gem, for this flashback episode, I got the opportunity to sit down with Rich Norris. Rich is currently the Assistant Principal for 360 High School in Providence, RI. This interview was extra special in so many ways. From hearing about the hardships he's lived through and overcome, to his honest take on our education system, to the multitude of ways he is paying it forward to help our youths of today who need it the most.
