A weekly podcast exploring stories at the intersection of faith and culture through an inclusive Christian lens. This week Mitch and Autumn talk about the Supreme Court, Covid Vaccines for kids, and the ongoing results from elections around the country. (Podcast was recorded on Wednesday, November 3, when some results were still pending.)
Later, Dr. Lenore Wright joins the show to talk about her latest book, Athena to Barbie: Bodies, Archetypes, and Women's Search for Self. Dr. Wright is the Director of the Academy for Teaching and Learning (ATL) and Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies & Philosophy at Baylor University. Wright’s scholarly interests include theories and modes of self-representation and feminist philosophy.
Her new book explores the vexed nature of being a woman. It maps the four corners of impossible choice a female faces because of the female body--her body as spiritual space (Mary), as political space (Athena), as erotic space (Venus), and as materialist space (Barbie). The book tracks the difficulty women face in understanding themselves as someone who has, but is not only, a body.
