Most of us have been to a funeral, maybe several, maybe one for a beloved family member or friend. If you were attending one for a loved one, then it was probably mostly a blur…something we did on “automatic” or as if we were powered by batteries. In our frozen or semi-frozen state, we functioned, but it probably felt like being in a fog. I knew people were talking to me because I could see their mouths moving, but I had no idea what anyone said to me. I just wanted it to be over so we could all go home and pretend “IT” had not happened.

Today is our chance to talk about funerals and the value of funeral service when we are not so “frozen”, not so numb and hopefully, not so sad that we cannot learn a little about this most valuable and important part of our grief process.
