Gospel Feast

The emancipation of modern women is a story that is not clearly understood by the world. It had its beginning in the City of the Saints at Nauvoo on March 17th 1842 when the Prophet of God turned the priesthood keys for women on the earth. This great event eventually led to women getting the vote, first in the Territory of Utah but officially in the State of Wyoming.

Someday the history books of humanity will thank Joseph Smith the Prophet for this great gift to God's daughters; and yet, where much is given, much is expected in return. This episode also explains the Order of Heaven and the misunderstanding in modern times of "Unrighteous Dominion."

In this episode we share the part of the story that you don't know. Ruth, after the Book of Ruth, closes. This is the missing "rest of the story."

Ruth is famous today in Israel as one of the Great Matriarchs of the Tribe of Judah! Grandmother to King David and Jesus Christ, she is proof that a good woman, no matter her background, can rise in the Kingdom of God to be one honored and beloved.

The Book of Ruth, that is in our Bibles, was written by the Prophet Samuel. In this episode we fill in the parts of the story that have been left out, setting us up to better understand both Jesse and King David too. A special thank you to actor Jim Jepson for his voice talents.

The Lord frequently spoke of the Earth as a field with His coming judgement being a harvest. This is an ancient idea that goes back to the days of Noah (and possibly even before that). Harvesters know that the Threshing Floor was an extremely important place where grain was "pressed" and "tried" until it became useful for the landowner. This episode will also explore the Temple as a Threshing Floor.

Jesus Christ, born of Mary, is our kinsman and as such can redeem us under the laws of the Goel. He is our Boaz, mighty and strong and most importantly willing to do it. When we call upon the Lord for His grace and agree to walk in the path of His good works, we become heirs of Salvation with Him before the Father. Come and feast with us on this amazing tale as preserved for us in the Book of Ruth.

One of the most important morals to understand in the Old Testament is the Law of the Goel. This law is crucial to Jesus Christ's claim on us and our legal claim on Him. Because Jesus is our Goel, we in turn are able to become saviours on Mount Zion, or goels (small g) to others. This is one of the greatest acts of God's love. It is proof that He loves us.

Welcome to Season 3 of the Gospel Feast Podcast. This season we are very excited to have author and historian Reed Simonsen explain to us the Book of Ruth. This book is many people's favorite Old Testament book and one of the few that proves God's deep love and respect for His daughters: our mothers, wives, sisters, and bosom companions.

In this episode we explore the Lord's new commandment to His church based on the truth that "God is Love." We will also explore the princess from Moab.
