  • A biblical look at physical intimacy in marriage

Stephanie is joined today by Rosie Makinney, author of Fight for Love and its eponymous podcast.

This episode is NOT recommended for children as we tackle the issue of pornography within Christian marriages, from the perspective of the wife.

Rosie experienced difficult early  years in her marriage as she uncovered her husband's porn addiction. After 10 years of struggle and a long recovery road, they are now enjoying a porn-free marriage, and have a ministry to come alongside Christian couples whose marriage is riddled with this addiction. Rosie's perspective is quite unique, as she specifically seeks to serve not the husbands, but the wives whose husbands are struggling.

  • Interview: For such a time as this: Easter amidst Covid-19

Erica Wiggenhorn is an international speaker and bestselling author of modern-day relevant Bible Studies to make sense of our current life circumstances.

In this Easter Week episode, Stephanie and Erica ponder questions that are both timeless, and relevant to tonight's headlines:

How does Easter morning comfort you when things are uncertain and difficult?

How does Easter bring us hope that Jesus understands our darkness?

How did the disciples let Easter transform them, and what can we learn from them, so Easter transforms us, too?

Jesus knew that Easter would be preceded by Gethsemane and the cross. How can we draw hope from that?

What does Easter tell us about our future--both near and far?

  • Easter: a faith grounded in reason and in miracles.

Episode 28 -Today we plunge into Good Friday. It's a double-length episode, because, well, it's the most momentous topic in the universe. Our prayer is that this episode will come alongside you as you ponder Easter, and will offer you unique glimpses into this most marvelous of mysteries to draw you deeper into awe and worship! We publish it long enough before Easter, to give you time to listen to it all!

Here are some of the topics we cover today:

Why was it necessary in the first place? Couldn't God just forgive us all? Heal us from our spiritual leprosy, like He did the leper through a messianic miracle we discovered many weeks ago (Episodes 4 & 5, Season 1)? What about the control freaks among us? How do we embrace this surrender that Jesus proclaims for us? How about the "prayer of weakness"--Lord, I am willing to be made willing!

We're looking at the darkness; the earthquake; the curtain of the Temple.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. But it was not enough to kill the lamb at Passover before leaving Egypt: its blood had to be applied on the doorposts to guarantee life. Similarly, we need to apply the blood of the Lamb to the door of our heart through faith, in order to receive eternal life. It's a matter of personal choice: the lamb is killed for all; but the blood needs to be applied, to be effective in your own personal life.

As Paul tells us, if Jesus did not rise from the tomb in bodily form, then our faith is in vain and we are to be pitied more than anyone. So, it all hinges on the fact of the resurrection. How can we know, that we know, that we know that Jesus rose from the dead, and that we too will experience eternal life?

That is Stephanie's story. She was confronted with evidence that seemed to indicate the factual truth of the resurrection, which was, to say the least, quite an inconvenience to this stubborn but truth-seeking atheist. We're looking at the evidence for the resurrection today.

Only a faith grounded in reason and in miracles both, can sustain the test of life. Jesus alone provides a sturdy foundation for this kind of faith.

  • Interview: Move from fear to hope TODAY amidst Covid-19

In this special Bonus episode, Stephanie is delighted to welcome Dr Tony and Emily Miller. Together, they are the owners of Life Potential Chiropractic and, as strong believers in Christ, they apply their faith to their practice of holistic medicine.

Today, they give us practical tips on how to reduce stress and anxiety as believers, how to embrace the truth that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free, and how to rediscover hope amidst the pain that we are all bound to experience. How do we choose to see love and beauty and gratitude instead of fear and stress and anxiety?

Did you know that your nervous system controls everything, and that you can change your thought pattern from fear to trust and joy? That's what science says, and that Dr Tony explains today. Taking every thought captive to obedience to Christ is not just much-quoted Bible verse (2Corinthians 10:5), it's actually scientifically grounded in evidence! God designed us to be whole, and functioning well. That's when healing can take place, and that's what we're focusing on today.

So, yes, this bonus episode is particularly relevant in light of our current world uncertainties surrounding Covid-19. But the truth is, we do live in an uncertain world, every day--whether it's made more obvious to us through seasons of crisis, or whether we are under the illusion that we do control our circumstances. In other words, Dr Tony and Emily give us words of wisdom that apply to every day of our lives--not just crises.

Emily reminds us of the beauty of being the salt of the earth, and the light of the world!

You will find more about Dr Tony and Emily at www.lifepotential.pa.com and on Facebook as Life Potential Chiropractic.

You will find Emily's blog at http://buryandessen.blogspot.com/

  • Experience Jesus in the Upper Room

Episode 27 - This is our Passover episode. Here, we take a few moments to remember what just happened, from Sunday to Wednesday: the Pharisees, Mary of Bethany, and the 30 pieces of silver.

We also remember the origins of Passover--freedom from bondage through the sacrifice of the innocent lamb, the blood smeared on the doorposts of God-trusting families.

And then, the Thursday evening Passover meal.

Jesus, Prophet, Priest and King, breaks with tradition as He washes not only the hands, but the feet of His guests.

The bread, unleavened and bruised and pierced. Broken in three pieces, the middle piece hidden, and then found in childlike faith, only to be celebrated with great joy by sharing it with all. These were, and still are, the Passover rituals taught and followed for hundreds of years before Jesus came.

The cup of redemption, cup of remembrance of the Passover blood of the lamb on the doorways, cup of the wedding covenant.

Jesus, the Bridegroom come for His bride.

  • Interview: A journey of faith, amazing tales, and an epic God!

Episode 26 -Stephanie is simply beyond herself with joy today, as she welcomes Jenny Cote. We are also celebrating SIX MONTHS of weekly Gospel Spice episodes this week! Yay! Go, God! 🙂

Now, Jenny Cote is many things--bestselling award-winning author, speaker, world traveler...  but it's a lot more personal than that for Stephanie: Jenny created the book series that have shaped Stephanie's kids and their faith, right up there with the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Lord of the Rings.

The Epic Order of the Seven, Jenny's series, invites kids aged 8 to 88 to dive in a universe of biblical truth and grace, a thundering roller coaster of adventure, that builds faith and trust in God through Christ. Can you tell Stephanie is a huge fan?!?!

If you have kids in elementary and early Middle-School years, this is absolutely totally the best books you'll gift them this year. If you don't, well, all Stephanie can say is, that she learned a lot for herself, by reading Jenny's books. Don't trust the cute book covers--these books are NOT just for kids!

In this episode, Stephanie and Jenny talk about how to grow our own faith, and that of those around us; they talk about finding your calling, and letting it catch fire in your life. They talk about epic tales, trust in God in the midst of crazy challenges, and His faithfulness through it all.

  • Tested, tried, and true.

Episode 25 - Stephanie covers a lot of ground in this episode!

Should we pay our taxes? What will heaven be like? How is God's Name, I AM, an indication of our own eternal life? Why did Jesus chase the money changers from the Temple? And why on earth did that fig tree wither? Do you ever wonder why Mary anointed Jesus with oil? And if Judas betrayed Jesus for the money? All this, and more, took place on Monday through Wednesday of Passover week. And it tells one, seamless, story--that of the Bridegroom, tested and proven true, so He could come and claim His beautiful, spotless bride.

We are traveling through chapters 22 to 26 of Matthew. If you happen to have access to your Bible while we are trekking through these meaty chapters, grab it and open it! Take notes. Stand in awe of the Bridegroom in worship and reverence. With Passover week, Matthew enters holy ground, and beckons us in.

  • Testing our mettle

Episode 24 -After Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He underwent testing--just like the sacrificial lambs who were entering Jerusalem for the Passover sacrifice were being tested by the priests, to ensure their purity. But could it be that Jesus was actually testing His testers?

How can we change our perspective on temptation, hardships, and even the comforts of our daily life, to view them, not as hindrances to growth, but as the very tools that God uses to show us His hand at work in our lives? What is tests were not meant to be passed, but to show what we're made of? What if tests were God's way to show us off? We are a new creation in Christ, and He promises to complete His masterpiece. He who started a good work in us, promises to carry it to completion in Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6)!

When Jesus cleanses the Temple from the money-changers on Monday, He makes a statement: He will cleanse, own, protect, and defend His Own. That's you and me today. When He curses the barren fig tree next, He is sending the same message. And with every teaching on Monday and Tuesday, He reaffirms His offer as the Groom to the bride.

The question has been posed. What will you RSVP?
