  • Interview: Nicolai Lindegaard (Guitar) & Simon Shoshan (Vocals) of Lifesick
Danish death-metallic hardcore band Lifesick’s latest (and first for label Metal Blade) album ‘Loved by None, Hated by All’ was released late 2024 to much acclaim. A record that showcased a tumultuous masterwork of bleak aggressive beauty, Lifesick in all its glory, but with so much more to it as well.
It has been, rightfully, lauded as their best work yet which is saying something when you consider the heft and weight of their previous releases.
Now, it’s all about maintaining the momentum, getting out and wrecking venues around the world, while also preparing for what might come in the future, as far as new music goes. That’s Lifesick for you though, always moving forward with ferocious intent.
An aspect of their personalities that we discuss in this interview with guitarist Nicolai Lindegaard and vocalist Simon Shoshan. As well as taking a slight retrospective look at Loved by None, Hated by All, especially the work that went into it, how it has shaped the band today, and so much more.

  • Interview: Matthias Clemens (Guitar) & Johannes Clemens (Vocals/Bass) of Warfield
German thrash three-piece Warfield are back with their brand-new album, the unstoppable inferno that is ‘With the Old Breed’, out March 28th, 2025, via Napalm Records. An album that sees Warfield explore the unembellished and emotional depiction of societal, historical, social and internal wars – expressing criticism of the bitter part of reality.
A staggering step up in all departments for Warfield, this new album has the band sounding tighter and stronger than never. All because they’ve focused their sound, experimented with different elements with the faster and heavier genres, removed the egregious rawness of earlier releases, but not lost the spirit of thrash metal in any way.

  • Interview: Gabriele (Guitars) & Enrico (Guitars) of Benthos
Released on April 11th, 2025, via InsideOutMusic, ‘From Nothing’, is the highly anticipated sophomore album from experimental progressive metal band Benthos. An album that offers a profound reflection on the meaning of life while exploring positive and negative imprints left by mankind, and how they have shaped entire societies in various aspects - artistic, cultural, and social.
It is the follow-up to their exceptional 2021 debut, ‘II’, which we described as:
A thoughtful and grown-up take on progressive metal. A challenging listen, but one that left an impact and put the band on the progressive map.
This new album is something else entirely. Not from a challenging progressive standpoint, but rather the impact it will have. Benthos have poured years of experience, years of growth as individuals, and years of evolving as artists, into this new album, and it is incredible.
We spoke to the band in 2021, and so much has happened since, so we finally caught up, and in this interview, we discussed all aspects of Benthos with guitarists Gabriele Papagni and Enrico Tripodi. From the growth of the past few years, the vision for this record, the creative ups and downs, to the upward trajectory of success the band is experiencing, the desire to get out and play live, and so much more.

  • Interview: Gen Tasker (Vocals) of Defenestration
The nu metal revival is alive and well in 2025, so much so, that iconic bands from that era are returning to delight long-term fans, while gaining a whole new audience who have yet to experience them. One such band is Northamptonshire, UK’s Defenestration. A five-piece who were active between 1999 – 2004, releasing three studio albums (One Inch God – 2001 / Ray Zero – 2003 / For Us it Ends When We Drown – 2004) and one split EP, (Year of the Slug with Scurge – 2002).
Not only that, but they also toured all over the world with the likes of Raging Speedhorn, Napalm Death, Biffy Clyro, The Wildhearts, Skindred, and so many more iconic bands. So popular were they, that they opened the Wembley Arena leg of the 2001 'Tattoo the Planet Tour'. A set of shows that included Cradle of Filth, Static-X, Biohazard, Slayer and Pantera.
Twenty years after their last live performance as Defenestration, the original members reunited for a ‘one-off’ performance. Supporting Raging Speedhorn, the show was to raise money for record producer Russ Russell who was unable to work due to illness. This would be followed by another benefit gig for Russ Russell later in August 2024, Defenestration’s first headline show since 2004.
The itch was back, and another set of shows with Raging Speedhorn all but confirmed that there was a desire for Defenestration to return as an active band. Which is where we find ourselves now. Defenestration has reformed, is under new management, and is in the process of solidifying their legacy, while looking to the future too.
This is what we discuss with vocalist Gen Tasker, getting excited about what the future might bring, while also spending plenty of time look back at their immense history too.

  • Interview: Megan (Vocals) & Edd (Guitars) of Forlorn
‘Aether’ is the much-anticipated debut album of Forlorn, the ‘folk horror’ band who blend expressionist art, crushing soundscapes and paganism to carve out their own brand of innovative alternative music.
Throughout ‘Aether’, Forlorn pay their respects to the major 'elements', acting as part of a progressing metal pagan ritual. The juxtaposition of ethereal vocals, with chaotic drums and crushing low-level guitars, paired with vocalist Megan Jenkin's brutal screams, bring together Forlorn’s unique sound and visual identity.
Their haunting live presence has also graced stages across the UK, alongside artists like Dying Wish, DESTRAGE, CRYPTA, Ithica, Devil Sold His Soul and URNE as well as festivals like at Radar Festival, Tech Fest and Collision Festival.
Anyone who has seen Forlorn live can attest to the immersive experience it is, with us describing our first time seeing them in 2022 as:
A 30-minute showcase of dreamy post-metal with the sharpness of hardcore, explosivity of metalcore and a touch of Midsommar-esqe eeriness.
2025 is looking to be the year they truly break out, and ‘Aether’ will be released on March 28th, 2025, via Church Road Records.
We spoke to vocalist Megan and guitarist Edd about the new album, and the journey that Forlorn has been on over the past few years. We also learn how Forlorn has slowly found its identity, taking that creativity to another level, expanding on it in both record and live form, and so much more.
