Grave Noise Interviews episodes

  • Interview: Katerina Nicole (Vocalist / Songwriter)
Katerina Nicole is the voice of a storm—a haunting presence where fragile whispers rise above crashing waves of sound and the thunderous weight of darkness. Her music exists in contrasts: delicate yet unrelenting, a dance of light and shadow, where beauty and brutality intertwine. Each song feels like a ritual, unravelling themes of transformation, resilience, and the quiet strength found in chaos.
With her debut EP, ‘Serene in Violent Oceans’, Katerina invites listeners into a world as turbulent as it is breathtaking, offering a glimpse of the beauty hidden within the storm.
Persuasively powerful and monumentally epic, while the focus of this EP is on Katerina Nicole’s immense vocals, its alternative metal and rock instrumental side shouldn’t be ignored. The entire EP is very listenable for just about everyone, and that is where success is found. The more ears on this EP, the more focus there is on the talents of Katerina Nicole.

  • Interview: Johannes Lenk (Atmosphere) of Hjort & V/Haze Miasma
Obscure. Cutting. Beautiful. Like wind in the branches of a bitterly cold winter forest.
In the quest for the perfect soundtrack for wistful, melancholic moments, get lost in the hypnotic undertow of broad walls of guitars, symphonic arrangements and experimental sounds, coated in an eerily-beautiful melodic monotony. Hjort is the solo-work of V/Haze Miasma‘s ‘Atmosphere‘ who utilises the studio project‘s freedom to create a unique sound experience using elaborate arrangements. Partly drawing from the realms of post-black metal, doom, progressive and symphonic music, while simultaneously denying to be categorized at all.
The aesthetics of autumn and winter, forests and mountains are the visual keynote ofAtmosphere‘s work and thus distinctly perceptible in the music. ‘Evolve IV-VIII’ is the logical progression of what was started by Hjort with ‘Trilogy I-III’ in 2022. Sink in, relax, breathe.
Delivering an album of immense quality from the first note to the last. It is beautiful, at times dark, at others, light, but always beautiful.

  • Interview: Timo (Vocals/Guitars) and Jukka (Drums) of Freedomination
Freedomination is a metal band formed in Vantaa, Finland in 2008. Over the years, the band has released four self-published works and has become renowned for its energetic performances in the Finnish metal scene. After a period of inactivity since 2017, they returned to the stage in 2022 with a new lineup and have now released their debut album, 'Until the Lights Go Out'.
Freedomination’s music blends elements of thrash metal, progressive metal, traditional heavy metal, and punk rock. The band's musical influences are firmly rooted in old-school North American and British metal, though they deliberately avoid a “retro” sound. Instead, the focus is on timeless expression, and the band’s sound is undeniably contemporary.
Musically and lyrically, the album visits many territories while maintaining a clear course on the ‘Sin Road’. Fans of old school heavy metal and thrash metal (Annihilator, Megadeth, Iron Maiden etc.) are in for a treat.
We spoke to vocalist/guitarist Timo Ahlström and drummer Jukka Ahlström about the new album. Learning more about the process behind its creation, the journey to its release, their roles in making it a reality, and so much more.

  • Interview: Eric Hazebroek (Guitars/Backing Vocals) of Ditch
After years of hard work, the fuzzy stoner rock/metal band, Ditch are back, having released their brand-new album ‘The Traveler’ on February 14th, 2025. It is their first full-length album since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Boca Do Inferno’ in 2014.

Completing the wall-of-sound many listeners crave. Yet there’s also room for dreamy, space-y segments, plus a variety of tempos. 40+ minutes of what stoner rock/stoner metal is all about.

  • Interview: Olle (Vocals) and Ingemar (Guitars) of Greybeards
Swedish rock band, Greybeards made their triumphant return on February 14th, 2025, with their brand-new EP, ‘Out of the Red’.
Rock music in its most memorable form, there’s nothing game changing here, but that doesn’t mean everyone can’t have a mighty fine time with a bunch of tracks that guarantee the body will groove and move.
That’s the short summation of this EP and what Greybeards offer. It’s good time rock music that is inherently infectious with big anthemic choruses.
