  • Interview: Tyler Shelton (Vocals) of Traitors
Releasing on February 21st, 2025, ‘Phobias’ is the brand-new album from deathcore heavyweights, Traitors. An album that reaffirms the band's reputation as a pioneering force in the deathcore scene, known for their signature blend of slow, sludgy downtempo riffs that redefined the genre. Thanks to previously released singles, ‘Release’, ‘SBC’, and ‘Break’, anticipation for the new album is at an all-time high.
Phobias delves into the darkest corners of the human mind, exploring themes of mental anguish, inner torment, and destructive cycles.
As a successor to the EP Night Terrors, this collection of tracks amplifies the intensity, confronting fears and personal demons head-on. The lyrics paint vivid pictures of isolation, manic episodes, self-loathing, and violent outbursts. Each song grapples with the overwhelming weight of trauma, regret, and fractured identity, offering no resolution but instead laying bare the relentless mental battles within. It's an unfiltered expression of pain and the struggle to survive amidst chaos.
These themes are just some of what we discuss with vocalist Tyler, digging into the creative processes, and how this album came into existence. We also delve into the Traitors mindset as a whole, the drive, touring, and so much more.

  • Interview: Ben (Vocals) of Waterlines
Northern UK metalcore dirtbags Waterlines have released their first EP; the aptly titled WDGAF Vol 1 (Waterlines Don’t Give A F**k). The sum of two years hard graft, the EP showcases all aspects of the riff fuelled party machine that is Waterlines. From debut single The Halo Around The Horns through the pulverising BRACE. to Set the Pace, Waterlines don't do the same thing twice, but make everything fit together in a seamless, absorbing EP.
Chances are that you’ve heard most of what this EP has to offer as over the past few years Waterlines has drip-fed us music, building up their reputation both on record and in the live environment. Which does mean this debut EP doesn’t have the freshest of feels. However, if you’re a fan of this band (and you should be), it will still be a must-listen. Not just because it puts all their recent bangers together, but because it shows cohesion in their sound.
Waterlines are great, but you already knew that.
Read our full review of the EP here: https://www.gbhbl.com/ep-review-waterlines-wdgaf-vol-1-self-released/
With a jam packed calendar full of festival slots in 2025 including the Sophie Lancaster Stage at the sold out Bloodstock Open Air Festival, Radar, Hammerdown and many more, Waterlines are coming to a festival near you.
Before festival season gets underway, Waterlines are heading out on a co-headline tour with Rituals in April, with a northern leg and a southern leg across two long weekends.
    Waterlines + Rituals + Within Reach - April 2025
    10th - Weston-Super-Mare - The Electric Banana
    11th - London - 229
    12th - Southampton - Suburbia
    Waterlines + Rituals + Veiled - April 2025
    17th - Nottingham - Billy Bootleggers
18th - Leeds - Hyde Park Book Club
    19th - Manchester - Lions Den

We spoke to vocalist Ben, not just about the new EP, but the journey that Waterlines have been on to date. There have been many ups and downs, but the future has never looked brighter. 2025 is already shaping up to be their most successful year and that is what we dig into here, not just talking about upcoming live shows, but the very real possibility of new music soon!

  • Interview: Aaron Dohnt (Bass) of After Smoke Clears - Talking Video Games & More!
Released on November 19th, 2024, ‘Intentions’ is the sophomore album of metalcore unit After Smoke Clears. An eight-track album to leave you bruised all over and an album that we summarised as:
A big moment for After Smoke Clears. The moment that more people take notice of them and the moment they step out of the underground and become an even more potent force within the metalcore scene. All on the back of a new album that features eight absolute ragers. What a f**king unit this band is.
You can read our full review of the album here: https://www.gbhbl.com/album-review-after-smoke-clears-intentions-self-released/

This time round, it’s bassist Aaron who we sat down with. Not just to talk about After Smoke Clears and the phenomenal response to their new album, but to talk video games, festive films, and much more. What’s the game/franchise that Aaron has sunk a stupid amount of time into? What is it about GameCube that he finds so special? Why is he planning to spend his Christmas in Vietnam this year? All of this, and more, can be learned in our interview below.

  • Interview: Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist and Producer Adam Kronowski
Kronowski is the metal/rock creation of songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Adam Kronowski. Bursting on to the scene with the single, ‘The Pyre’, Kronowski has amassed millions of streams, appeared on playlists like Spotify’s “All New Metal” and “New Blood”, and even charted on the official Spotify charts.
Handling all writing, performance, and production himself, Adam pulls from a wide variety of heavy metal and rock influences, and even outside genres like country and reggaeton, to craft heavy metal in a new powerful direction. Teaming up with metal veterans like Dennis Ward (Angra, Helloween) and Matias Kupiainen (Stratovarius) on mixing duties and Mika Jussila (Children of Bodom, Nightwish) and Ted Jensen (Lamb of God, Green Day) on mastering, Kronowski’s releases stand in the top ranks of metal releases today on every level.
Along with lead guitarist Tommy Lenzi, the group takes the next step forward with the release of the EP, ‘Do I Need a Reason’. Which features the scorching title track, a thrashing anthem for those days when everything just feels off.
Coupled with the previous singles ‘The Weight’, ‘Tides’, ‘Boring’, and ‘Shades of Grey’, the EP journeys from aggressive breakdowns to pensive ballads and everything in between, providing a truly modern metal experience.
We spoke to Adam Kronowski, not just delving into the creative period that birthed this EP and its tracks, but the creative process of Kronowski in general. We also talk about experimentation, including doing harsh vocals for the first time, the ease with which fresh ideas come about, and so much more.

  • Interview: Kenneth Evstrand (Guitar) and Kjell Rune Sønsthagen (Bass) of Evilon
Evilon, the melodic folk & death metal band from Sweden released their brand-new album, ‘A Warrior's Way’ at the start of November 2024, via Fetzner Death Records. A record that sees Evilon delving deeper into the swamp of beautiful folk melodies reminiscent of older times, while still maintaining aggressive, yet melodic, death metal riffs. The kind that has come to represent the Scandinavian metal scene.
‘A Warrior's Way’ has been heralded as their best release yet, and it certainly finds the band in a more confident place when it comes to showcasing the power in their folk sound.
This is just one aspect of the new album that we discussed with band founder and guitarist Kenneth Evstrand. Who, alongside, bassist Kjell Rune Sønsthagen, gave us even more insight into their processes, how the ever evolving face of Evilon got to this stage, what the future might look like, and so much more.

Orchid Street is a very special EP made up of very special tracks created by very special musicians. None more notable than vocalist Whitney Cooper, who has such an incredible voice.
