Publisher's Summary:
A final battle for the survival of Earth is coming. Between the alien Others and the destruction of humanity stand four Dissidents. When the Prime Other banishes them to the Harvest Site to live the remainder of their time on Earth as slaves, the Dissidents use the opportunity to learn more about the substance that keeps the Others alive...and how they might use it to their advantage. But the Others guard their secrets well, and the Prime Other has proven his willingness to do whatever's necessary to secure a future for his race, no matter what or who is destroyed in the process.
When Althea and the boys realize their lives could be the key to allowing another planet to suffer the same fate as Earth, they promise they'll die before they let that happen. If they can't figure out how to turn the tables in their favor before the Summer Celebration, they might have to do just that. The end draws near, and there's only one question left: are the Dissidents going to save their chosen people or perish alongside them?

Bad ending for a good series.
This book was a a bit of a let down, and full of holes. I still liked the series as a whole, but the ending left something to be desired.
Just as an aside, did anyone else notice that this book contained a character named Griffin who is a shapeshifter, who likes to end sentences with the word, "Yeah". I wonder if this is a nod to the Rylee Adamson series and Elemental series by Shannon Mayer.
***Warning Spoilers follow***
The first issue I have is that in book 3 it was very important that they not allow Griffin and Greer to have their minds open to the Other's or they would be tortured and killed. They release them, and suddenly that's not a problem anymore.
They know ahead of time that the Other's will find Greer, Griffin, and Nat, and yet do nothing about it, nor even discuss it. Purposefully making your characters forgetful or uncaring about each other just to make sure the plot line lands with the most impact is a disservice to the readers.
The theme that the four dissidents combined would be more powerful is repeated through out the series, and they spend a great amount of time trying to get their fourth, and yet once they are all together and working together, the only thing they do is transport themselves. Which they had done already with only 3 of them together. Deshi himself never really contributed much other than a sample of the powder, which didn't seem to be all that necessary to the weapon they built. At the end, he goes to his corner of the world and does whatever it was that was needed to put the earth back to rights, but it could be argued that he would have done that anyway, if they didn't try to rescue him until after dealing with the Others.
Griffin's death was completely pointless and done in such a way that it did not have much emotional impact. He is killed right in front of 3 of the Dissidents and they do absolutely nothing to help one of their most powerful allies. Again, it feels like overt manipulation to force the plot to place that was desired by the author despite how unnatural that outcome was.
Excellent series, if a little wordy sometimes - highly recommended
I really enjoyed this series and read all four books in record time. The author's use of description and wording weave a wonderful story.
