“Looking for loopholes.” That’s what the late actor W.C. Fields reportedly said when someone asked him why he was reading the Bible. “Looking for loopholes.” Unfortunately, sometimes believers look for loopholes in Scripture. They’ve read a certain passage but they wonder if maybe the original Greek will cut them some slack. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows what Scripture reveals about us, but helps us chart a pathway out of our sin to our Savior.

The most significant book on some bookshelves is the one with the most dust on it. It has the answers to the biggest questions of life, but it’s opened about as often as a 40 year old Farmer’s Almanac. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see the value of God’s Word . . . and how we need to get that book off the shelf and into our laps. More than that, get its insights into our minds and hearts. Pastor Greg has good counsel today from the book of Romans.

Before you came to the Lord, it’s more than likely there was someone praying for you to do so. Maybe many “someones.” Aren’t you glad the Lord heard those prayers? Who are you praying for right now? When someone talks about people who need the Lord, whose name immediately comes to your mind? Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us take a big step forward in understanding the issues at hand, and in learning to pray more effectively that that person might meet Jesus.

We all know someone who seems like they’re on nonstop sin patrol. They spend their time looking into everyone else’s business seeing if they can spot any kind of inconsistency in a person’s walk of faith. Maybe in searching for other people’s sin it helps them ignore their own. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us each check ourselves. We’ll learn to walk more closely with the Lord, and spend less time worrying about the spiritual scorecards of others.

Some people look at sin the way some count calories. That sin? Oh, that’s nothing. It’s like a broccoli sin. You can do that one—doesn’t even count. That other sin? Oh, no. That’s a hot fudge Sunday sin. Stay away from that one. The truth is, we should count sin less like calories and more like poison. Sin kills. The wages of sin is death. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see the antidote.

What kind of doctor would run some tests and leave out all the bad news? The bad news may be hard to hear but, before you can cure the disease you have to know about the disease. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that believers have the cure for an eternal disease . . . a problem that could affect us for eternity. And we’ll recognize the importance of delivering the bad news and good news side by side so people can be saved from the sickness of sin.

Ever gone to a concert or sporting event and had tickets waiting at “will call.” You go to the window and say, “Yes, I’m so-and-so and I believe you have tickets waiting for me.” And then you cross your fingers that nothing went wrong—that your name is on the list and you’ll get in. Some people are hoping their name is on the will call list for Heaven. After all, they did good things. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see it all comes down to our relationship with God’s only begotten Son.

There are so many things people will unabashedly advocate. Their favorite sports team, a certain TV show, a particular recipe or certain diet, a particular model of car or truck, their favorite soft drink, Mac or PC. Those subjects come up, they’re not shy. But believers talking about the Gospel? Sometimes not a peep. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie continues our studies in Romans about boldly proclaiming our hope in Christ.
