More people complain about headaches than any other health condition. About 45 million people suffer from them each year. The major causes? Stress and lack of sleep, among others. There’s a lot on our minds. Many people feel overwhelmed much of the time. But today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us chart a new path. He’ll talk about the giants we face . . . those forces that seem bigger than we are. We’ll learn today how to stand against them in the power of God.

God has never encountered a problem or a crisis too big for Him to handle. He’s never said “uh-oh.” So when we encounter something we can’t handle, we need to look to our God who can handle anything. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, as Pastor Greg Laurie returns to our studies of the life of David, we’ll see what happened when David faced a giant-sized problem. It’s a familiar story, but sometimes we miss the practical application. That’s Pastor Greg’s focus as we begin today’s study.

Some tend to think that God only uses perfect people . . . people with no blindspots, no failings, no shortcomings. But the more we study the Bible, the more we see how God used imperfect people to do remarkable things for His Kingdom. How can we be the kind of person God is looking for? Pastor Greg Laurie answers that today here on A NEW BEGINNING as we examine the life of a great leader of Israel who God chose personally, over and above other candidates who appeared more impressive.

We see the social media posts of certain friends and marvel at how great their life is. Lunch on the beach in Cabo. Sipping a hot chocolate in a ski chalet in Aspen. You know, social media has become a collection of highlight reels—because people want to look good. But today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out God follows you . . . no, not on social media, in real life. And He’s most impressed by the things that would never show up in a highlight reel.

In this Sunday message, Pastor Greg Laurie points you to Jesus’ first miracle, what this shows about faith, and the Christian’s future is bright.

Notes

Have you ever asked God for a sign?

Jesus was asked for signs.

Jesus gave the sign the Pharisees and Sadducees asked for; they just did not like it and asked for more.

The Great “I Am” Statements of Christ:

1. I Am the Bread of Life – John 6.
2. I Am the Light of the World – John 8.
3. I Am the Door of the Sheep – John 10.
4. I Am the Good Shepherd – John 10.
5. I Am the Resurrection and the Life – John 11:25.
6. I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life – John 14:6.

7 Signs that Prove Jesus is the Messiah:

1. Turning water into wine.
2. Cleansing the temple – John 2:13–22.
3. Healing the centurion’s son – John 4:46–54.
4. Healing the lame man in Jerusalem – John 5:1–15.
5. Feeding the 5,000 – John 6:1–15.
6. Healing the man who was born blind – John 9.
7. Raising Lazarus from the dead – John 11.

Jesus was preparing them for the ultimate sign … His death and resurrection from the dead.

If you want to win some, you need to be winsome.

Be a witness, and you will better be able to witness.

Jesus’ first miracle simply brought joy to people.

Not only did Jesus’ first miracle impress those assembled, but it impacted His own followers!

As believers, we need to believe our beliefs and doubt our doubts.

My hour has not yet come.

But His mother told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5).

The way the miracle was done is important.

Jesus did not tell them what would happen; He just told them to do it.

Faith is not just intellectual ascent; it’s action!

Faith is the means by which the infirmity of man takes hold of the infinity of God.

The devil and this world always offer the best wine at first and the diluted later, while God saves His best wine for last.

You determine the end of your life by the beginning of it.

1. The best is yet to come in this life.
2. The best is yet to come in the afterlife.

We will come back with Jesus to a new earth.

For the nonbeliever, the worst is yet to come, and this life is as good as it gets.

For the believer, this life is as bad as it gets.

The worst is yet to come because the Bible promises a future judgment.

The last great spiritual awakening in America came in the late 60s and early 70s. It was a time of turbulence and upheaval, a time of uncertainty and angst. People were looking for answers, and hope. The Jesus Movement was a time when scores of people found that hope. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie describes how the new movie, Jesus Revolution, in theaters today, can provide the same answers and hope for this troubled generation.

Our mission statement here at A NEW BEGINNING is “Knowing Him and Making Him Known.” Today, we’ll see how those two ideas are inseparably linked. When we make Him known, we know Him better. When we draw other people to Christ, we’re drawn to Christ. Sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it? And today on the broadcast, as Pastor Greg Laurie brings us the final installment in his popular series examining the Jesus Movement, we’ll see how we can put that great idea into practice.
