In this engaging message, Pastor Greg Laurie encourages you to use the life you have for the glory of God.
Notes
Life passes quickly.
James emphasizes the brevity of the life and the importance of living in God’s will.
Life is short. Live it well.
We should plan for the future but remember to put God’s will first.
A trend in our nation is laziness.
“Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.” —Romans 12:11
James is not saying we need to always say, “If the Lord wills.”
Rather, it is the idea to remember that God may change or alter our plans.
True Christians are characterized as doing the will of God from their heart.
Many Christians are afraid of God’s will for their life.
Obedience to revealed truth guarantees guidance in matters unrevealed.
God wants you to be filled with the Holy Spirit every day.
God wants you to be holy and sexually pure.
God calls each and every one of us to pray and give thanks.
Be patient and wait for the will of God to be shown to you.
Never be afraid to entrust an unknown future to a known God.
To know God’s will, we need to present ourselves to God each and every day.
Come to God and say, “Father, here is my life that You gave to me.”
God is able to do above and beyond that which you ask or think.
We need to include God in all our plans.
The length of our life is up to God.
We need to give God the glory for our life and health.
We need to do what God calls us to do.
The sin of commission is doing what we should not do.
The sin of omission is not doing what we should do.
We are all called to serve the Lord by serving others.
God is nudging some of you to pray more.
The Holy Spirit is urging you to share your faith more.
God wants you to discover what your gifts are and to use them.
“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” —Psalm 90:12
If you want to see revival, do revival-like things.

The book of Revelation contains a series of letters to seven different churches. It’s the Lord’s specific message to each of those bodies of believers—containing both commendation and criticism. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, we’ll see the Lord would direct those messages to many of today’s believers. It’s one of this past year’s most requested messages, titled The 7 Love Letters of Jesus to His Church. And we’ll pay close attention to the kind of love He’s talking about.

Some believers wish there were a tried and true formula for bringing someone to Christ. Memorize these verses, rehearse these statements. If they ask this, you say that. Well, preparation is good . . . but sometimes people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out the Holy Spirit is the One who draws people to Christ. We can certainly plant a seed, but we have to allow for the Spirit’s work in their lives.

In our natural bodies, there are many things inside that keep us alive, although we’ve never seen them. Antibodies, clotting agents, intestinal flora, white blood cells. Now, spiritually speaking, there are invisible forces at work that want to help us and save us, although other forces want to destroy us. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out the work of God’s Spirit acquaints us with our sin, and acquaints us with our Savior. It’s important we know how to respond.

Few of us buy products to solve problems we don’t have. Why would you buy a flea collar if you don’t have a pet? But there are many people who have a problem they’re not yet aware of. They’re afflicted with the “good enough” syndrome. They’re convinced they’re good enough to get to Heaven. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that the Holy Spirit shows us our sin, shows us its penalty, and shows us our need for a solution. It’s life-saving information.

The Lord created us with a will of our own. In doing so, He knew some people would reject Him, but that was His plan from the beginning. And yet the Holy Spirit calls out to us, drawing us to the Lord. It’s the wise person who heeds that call. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that’s just one of the jobs of the Holy Spirit. He has a multi-dimensional role in the lives of believers. And few of us know just how involved He is in our lives. It’s about time for the whole story.

“He who thinks of making no claims shall have all that others claim and by claiming cannot obtain… Only an empty vessel can God fill with His gifts. And the emptier we are of anything that is due to ourselves, the more can God pour into these vessels His eternal riches, honors, and glories.” —R. C. H. Lenski
