In Hebrews 4 we read, “So let us keep on coming boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” If God, in God’s Word, invites us to come to God in boldness . . . maybe we should! Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us take that direction to heart. We’re continuing our studies in the fascinating Old Testament book of Nehemiah. So many great lessons from the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem.

None of us is unaware of sin’s attraction. And each of us has fallen victim to its lure. And so many have experienced the disaster that often follows. Sin looks good through the windshield, but it’s a bad memory in the rearview mirror. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie brings us a cold, hard look at sin and how to resist its foothold in our lives. We’re in the book of Nehemiah today discovering how we can each experience a personal, spiritual revival.

Everyone endures trials in life—even Christians—but Elijah shows us what our response to them should look like. In this episode, Pastor Greg Laurie takes you into 1 Kings 18 with a powerful message on keeping our faith strong.
Notes
What were the secrets of Elijah’s power and boldness?
1. He stood in the presence of God.
When you stand in the presence of God, you will not bow before any man.
What were the secrets of Elijah’s power and boldness?
2. He was a man of prayer (James 5:17).
It was Elijah’s prayer in private that was the source of his power in public.
What were the secrets of Elijah’s power and boldness?
3. He knew Scripture and acted on it (Deuteronomy 11:16).
What were the secrets of Elijah’s power and boldness?
4. He faithfully delivered the message.
What were the secrets of Elijah’s power and boldness?
5. He was a man of faith and obedience.
There is a time to move and a time to wait.
God often places His people in significant positions.
God has not called us to isolate but to infiltrate.
The church is the only hope for America.
An idol is not merely an object or statue we bow before; it is anyone or anything that takes the place of God in our lives.
If the Lord God is number one in your life, everything else will find its proper balance, but if He’s not, everything else will be in chaos.
Why does God not want us to have any other gods before Him?
Answer: “For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God” (Exodus 20:5).
Christians trying to live in two worlds are enough into the world to be miserable in God, and enough of God to be miserable in the world.
People slash their souls by compromising their integrity to get everyone’s attention.
God loves you so much, and He wants a relationship with you!
God showed His commitment by sending Jesus to die for our sins!
Medical Science seeks to add years to your life, but only Jesus will add life to your years.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” —Galatians 6:9
When we hear the statement “You reap what you sow,” we tend to think of it in a negative sense. And there is a negative way that it can play out in our lives. But the Bible says, “For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” (Galatians 6:8 NKJV).
The Bible promises rewards — acknowledgment for our faithful service to the Lord. And Jesus said, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work” (Revelation 22:12 NKJV). We must do His work.
Are you working for the Lord? I’m not referring to working for your salvation, because salvation is a gift from God to you. Ephesians 2:8 tells us, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God” (NKJV).
Because of that, we should want to do something for the Lord, not working for salvation but working from salvation. A faith that works will produce works. A faith that doesn’t work won’t.
The apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV).
Jesus often made the statement, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (Matthew 11:15 NKJV). In other words, “Pay attention to what is being said!” We all know what it’s like to tune things out when someone is saying something that we don’t want to hear.
But when it comes to hearing and obeying God’s Word, Jesus is saying, “Tune it in.”
The decisions we make and the lifestyle we choose now will impact us in the life to come.

Somebody asked the great evangelist Dwight L. Moody why he said that he needed to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. He said, “Because I leak.” When it comes to having a passionate relationship with the Lord, we have to continually refresh our passion, because we all have a slow leak. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see where we are in that relationship with the Lord, and take the proper steps to re-energize our faith, fervor and fidelity to the Lord.

There have been many famous violinists . . . far fewer famous luthiers – the master craftsmen who made the great violins. Among the few was Antonio Stradivari – and there’s not a violinist alive who’s never heard of a Stradivarius. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out, whether we play an instrument, whether we make an instrument, or just listen to instruments, we can all BE an instrument in the hand of God. And we’ll learn to serve God with the passion of a Stradivari.

The great basketball coach John Wooden said, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us how to forge a good, strong character – a moral fortitude based on our relationship with God. We’ll follow in the footsteps of one of our spiritual forefathers who faced great opposition, but he had the character to stand strong.

If we sow a thought, we’ll reap an action. Sow an action, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a character. Sow a character, reap a destiny. We need to give some thought to our thoughts. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie continues our studies in the book of Nehemiah. It describes a great undertaking, how the workers were under great pressure, they faced great opposition, and we’ll glean some great lessons on how they responded. Our study today is titled, “Don’t Give Up.”

When we fear God, we serve God. When we fear God, we obey God. When we fear God, we don’t need to fear much else. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie brings us insights from the book of Nehemiah. It’s the story of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. God’s people were working hard, but we’ll see some began acting in a way that was out of sync with being a God-fearing man or woman. Pastor Greg helps us learn from this tense development in the story.

In this Sunday morning episode, Pastor Greg Laurie offers an encouraging message from 1 Kings. With Elijah, we learn that everyone faces trials, but we can trust God to show us the way through them. Listen in for more!
Notes
God told Elijah to “hide himself.”
This move was for Elijah's preservation and preparation.
We learn things in deserts we do not learn anywhere else.
Better to be in a valley or a desert with Jesus than anywhere else without Him.
There has to be a cross before there can be a crown.
God allows trials in our lives so we will grow up spiritually.
God allows hardships to show us His power.
Trials and testing produce a necessary quality in our lives.
You can never be too small for God to use, only too big.
An important lesson: “With God nothing is impossible.”
We need to trust God in everything.
God loves to take what we have and multiply it.
God says the same to each of us, “Give Me your son, your daughter, your marriage. Give Me your problems, your fears, your anxiety.”
