Faith and fear are mutually exclusive. We can’t be faithful and fearful at the same time. But here during this week when we celebrate a significant event within our faith, we also face some of the most trying times of our year. If it’s not busyness, it’s finances. If it’s not the pandemic, it’s the inevitable challenges of family gatherings. But today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie points out our focus should be on the One whose birthday we celebrate. And that brings peace.

Have you noticed how happiness and kids seem to go together? They play, they jump, they skip, they frolic. When was the last time you frolicked? We grow up, get some education, and happiness gets left behind. Author Ernest Hemingway said, “Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.” Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us we’ll find real joy by seeking God and keeping an eternal perspective.

In this special Christmas episode, Pastor Greg Laurie teaches on the meaning of Jesus Christ's name and why it gives us hope!
Notes
At the name of Jesus Christ, every knee will bow!
Isaiah 9:6
The Christmas story is about more than a birth but also a gift.
1. Jesus’ name is wonderful (this takes care of the dullness of life).
Only God is awesome!
2. Jesus’ name is Counselor (this takes care of the decisions of life).
3. Jesus’ name is Mighty God (this takes care of the demands of life).
Jesus Christ is Mighty God.
4. Jesus’ name is Everlasting Father (this takes care of the future of life).
5. Jesus’ name is Prince of Peace (this takes care of the disturbances of life).
The incarnation was for the atonement; the birth of Jesus was so there would be the death of Jesus.
Red is the color of Christmas because Jesus’ blood flowed from that cross for us.
God offers a gift to you: Eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Have you received the gift of Christmas yet?

All cars are equipped with rear-view mirrors and side-view mirrors. But the safest way to drive is obviously looking out the windshield. It’s best to look ahead at what’s coming. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says we should take the same approach to life. We should look ahead to see what’s coming. And today we’ll do just that as we look at eternal life to help us properly focus on how to live this life. A good many of your questions about heaven will be answered. We’ll learn to look ahead.

Sometimes we all NEED a new beginning, don’t we? When our spiritual lives have meandered and we’re not as close to the Lord as we used to be, it’s okay to make an adjustment. God allows U-turns. It’s legal in every state! Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how we may have come to this point, and how we can get beyond – way beyond. Sometimes it’s easiest to see our human idiosyncracies in other people. Take a toddler, for instance. The little one may be despairing over the toy...or the cookie...he can’t have – until daddy walks through the door, home from work. Suddenly, his focus changes and his little world is all about dad. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out, when our love and focus is on our Heavenly Father, we won’t despair for the things of this world.

Ever heard the term “retail therapy.” So many of us, if we need a pick-me-up, a little fun and enjoyment, we go shopping! And, boy, do we go shopping at this time of the year! We all should all be ecstatic! When people get to the end of the temporary happiness they find in the things they buy, they often wonder, is that all there is? They wonder if there’s more to life. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie says, YES THERE IS, and he explains where we can find it!

Have you experienced the joy of Christmas? In today’s episode, Pastor Greg Laurie shares how the jubilance of the Advent season transcends even the toughest circumstances. Listen in for a new message from Luke 2.
Notes
The joy of Christmas is not in what’s opened Christmas day.
Joy does not come from what is under the tree but from who died on the tree!
The Lord needed Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem to fulfill Micah 5:2.
History is His story.
Jesus wasn’t a mere man or just one of the prophets.
Jesus was God in human flesh!
Christmas is not a rags-to-riches story, but rather a riches-to-rags story.
When Jesus arrived, almost everyone missed it.
1. The highest message came initially to the lowest of people.
2. The message of the first Christmas was a message of joy!
Great joy which shall be to all people!
At the cross, Christ defeated sin.
At the resurrection, Jesus defeated death.
3. Fear robs us of the joy of Christmas.
“Do not be afraid, the Messiah has come!”
The message of Christmas is fear not and have joy!
The condition of joy is to let go of fear.
Joy and happiness are something you choose, not wait to feel.
“Rejoice in the Lord, always. Again, I will say, rejoice!” —Philippians 4:4
Joy is a powerful magnet the Christian has because the nonbeliever has nothing like it.
4. We can have joy this Christmas because we have a Savior: Christ the Lord.
Jesus is not just your Savior; Jesus is also your Lord!
