Some might wonder why we take money advice from a 1st century preacher who didn’t have a horse or a donkey, often didn’t know where His next meal was coming from, and was homeless. He said, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Well, He was the Creator of the Universe.
Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to Jesus’ words about how we can have the right, biblical view of money.

Only the people who’ve had a car crash can give a testimonial about how well their seat belt works. How can we give a testimony of how God has delivered us from our trials if we haven’t had any trials? Well, we ALL have trials. Even Jesus said in this world we would have tribulation. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us learn to put more of our faith and trust in the God who makes a way out of no way. As we do that, we’ll see that actually strengthens our faith.

God is omniscient . . . He’s all-knowing. We’re . . . not. There are so many things God understands that we can’t quite grasp. We don’t even know how many things we don’t know. Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out one of the most often-asked questions falls into this category. But Pastor Greg tackles it head-on and offers some encouraging biblical perspective. It’s a message from his candid new series called “Hot Button Issues.”

After experiencing God’s blessings, the people of Israel still returned to their old ways. Sound familiar? If you’ve found yourself drifting spiritually and falling into the same patterns—a fresh start is close by.
Notes:
Focus verse - Nehemiah 10
#1 Starting strong is good, finishing strong is better.
Samson started well but did not finish that way.
Marriage is like our relationship with God.
The moment you begin to neglect and take your marriage for granted, trouble follows.
The same is true of our Christian life.
The bible says, “Work out your own salvation.”
#2 Stay focused.
When we take our eyes off the Lord, we will get discouraged.
Nehemiah 4:14
Israel did not remember the Lord.
This was not just about the physical state of the walls.
This was about the spiritual state of their lives.
#3 Israel promised to carefully follow all the commands of scripture.
Read Nehemiah 10:28–29
Jesus is the unique and only miracle working Son of God who died and rose again.
#4 Israel chose to obey the word of God.
The surrender to God’s word happened from top down.
Nehemiah 10:28
It’s one thing to believe the word of God, it’s another thing to surrender to it.
#5 Israel separated themselves from ungodly influences.
Nehemiah 10:28–30
To live a godly life, you need to separate yourself from some things and join yourself to others.
The three most important decisions you will make in life are:
What am I going to do with Jesus Christ?
What am I going to do with my life?
Who am I going to marry?
Israel was pulled down by ungodly people.
2 Corinthians 6:14
Separation does not mean isolation.
#6 Israel was invested in God’s kingdom.
Nehemiah 10:32
If we follow God’s principles about giving, we can expect Him to meet our needs.
2 Corinthians 9:8
Nehemiah 13:8
Little compromises lead to bigger problems.
Jesus finished what he started.

What makes a person happy? A lot of people would say more money. Fame and fortune, aren’t those common pursuits? But look at the richest and most famous. They should be ecstatic . . . they’re not! But their psychotherapist is working on that. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie takes us to God’s Word for good insight on where we can find joy, happiness and contentment. If the Creator who made us has advice on how to make our lives richer, we should pay attention.

The Bible isn’t just a collection of wise sayings . . . it’s not a leather-bound fortune cookie. The Bible is our spiritual food. It’s our sword; our only offensive weapon. It’s the tool that helps us discern truth from error. And it tells us of God’s love for us, and our need for a Savior. It deserves a place on our bookshelf – or better yet, sitting right in our laps. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us consider the trustworthiness of Scripture.

Many families have at least one member who’s notorious for getting lost. Their “shortcuts” are infamous. They’re navigationally challenged. If you get two such individuals in the same car, you may never see them again. When it comes to finding their way to heaven, some folks are just as challenged – “it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you’re sincere.” Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie offers biblical truth. Clear answers on eternity from Scripture.

Nearly every country has naturalization requirements. To become a citizen of another country, steps need to be followed. No steps, no deal. What’s required to be a citizen of heaven? What does it take to make it through the Pearly Gates? Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie shows us what the Bible says. We’ll see it has nothing to do with how much we put in the offering plate last Sunday . . . we’ll see it has to do with receiving a gift that’s already been bought and paid for.

We are all leading in some way—the only question is if we’re doing it in a way that pleases God. In this message, Pastor Jonathan Laurie reminds us that good leadership is everything.
Notes:
Focus verse - Nehemiah 9
#1 Own It: Leadership Starts with Repentance and Truth.
Nehemiah 9:1–3
Good leaders don’t cover up sin; they confess it.
1 Corinthians 3:19–20
Real change starts with us.
It’s personal repentance and a return to God’s truth.
The Israelites turned their eyes inward and recognized that the true crisis wasn’t external, but internal.
#2 Remember it: Leadership Looks Back to Move Forward.
Nehemiah 9:17–20
A nation that forgets its past is doomed to repeat it.
A nation that remembers it’s past is prepared to grow from it.
God was merciful, patient, and faithful to restore Israel.
God has not forsaken us.
We need leaders who commit to God’s truth and refuse to compromise.
#3 Live It: Leadership walks the talk.
Nehemiah 9:38–10:1, 10:28–29
Israel committed to change and follow God afresh.
Our nation needs men and women of conviction.
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)
