Greg Laurie: A New Beginning

God has given us mere humans the opportunity to participate in giving life. A mom and dad bring life into this world with their newborn baby. And as believers, we have the privilege of bringing the message of new life to people as we share Christ. But some folks are not easily persuaded. They’re stuck in their sin and don’t want to move. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how we can reach the unreachable. It’s part of his series called Refresh.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? God reaches people through people. God may want to reach someone you know . . . through you! And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us be ready for that assignment. There’s nothing like helping someone meet Jesus and find eternal life! You’ll never forget it. The reward is worth the risk.

Wood that’s been split and sawn, and sanded and shaped can make some fine furniture. But if our compassion should get the best of us and we didn’t want to see that wood face that stress, most of us would just have some chunks of tree sitting in our living rooms. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how the sanding and shaping in our lives helps us mature into the kind of people God wants us to be. Good encouragement coming today.

There’s a good chance you’ve seen a two-man saw. With handles on both sides, it’s an excellent example of teamwork. One man pushes, the other man pulls – and then vice versa. Some of those saws were 12 feet long. The Christian life has many examples of teamwork, and today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us focus on discipleship. It addresses the push n’ pull of daily life as a believer – where a new believer and a veteran believer each have something to offer the other.

When was the last time you were the “newbie” on the job . . . the new guy or gal just hired? If you were fortunate, you had someone come alongside you to show you the ropes. Because if you don’t know anything, it’s hard to do anything. Well today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how we tutor new believers through a process called “discipleship.” It’s a process of spiritual duplication where older believers give the younger an example to follow, a paradigm for success.

The most patriotic thing you can do this month is have a broken heart for the 330 million people who need a Savior.

Notes:

Psalm 127:1 (NKJV)
Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Luke 19:40 (NKJV)
But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

A nation where the gospel can be freely preached is worth fighting for.

 Jesus came to deal with sin.
He came to bring spiritual restoration.
He came to rule as an Eternal King.

The Terms of Peace
Luke 19:41–44

Matthew 23:37–38 (NKJV)
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate.”

Luke 19:42 (NKJV)
“If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.”

“Jesus knew that their desire for a political Messiah would bring total destruction in less than a generation.”  —David Guzik

The most patriotic thing you can do today is to have a broken heart for the 330 million people who need a Savior.

Read Luke 19:45-48

Cleansing the Temple
Luke 19:45–48

The revolution Jesus came to start was never going to begin in the halls of government. It has always started with His people.

“To the distinguished Character of Patriot, it should be our highest Glory to add the more distinguished Character of Christian.”  —George Washington

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

 Are we desperate enough?

America is not an accident, and her best days will not be determined in Washington; it will be by all of us.

Psalm 139:23–24 (NKJV)
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my thoughts;
And see if [there is any] wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

It’s been said that, when we get to the end of our rope, we get to the beginning of God. A lot of truth in that statement. When we’re out of answers, and short on hope, God opens His supply of reassurance and direction. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie has good insight for those challenging times. We’re glad you’ve joined us for his new series called “Refresh: What Every Christian Needs to Know.” Valuable information for believers who face the challenges of life.

Sometimes, a child needs a little help from his mom or dad. Whether it’s trying to tie his shoe, or trying to climb a tree, sometimes he just can quite make it on his own. Well, whether we admit or not, we often need help from our Heavenly Father. When we try to live a righteous life, but still have a sin nature, that’s when we need to rely on our God. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see how to call on God and accept His help in our daily walk.

A car can’t go anywhere without an engine. A car better not go anywhere without a steering wheel! A car needs propulsion and direction. You know, so do believers. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how it’s the Spirit of God who provides both. He leads us in the path we should go. And He gives us the spiritual strength to make the journey. You’ve joined us for an encouraging series today called “Refresh: What Every Christian Needs to Know.”
