It doesn't matter how painful the grief we are going through is; the sooner we get ourselves out of the "why me, poor me, why this happened to me" mindset, and let the pain, the anger, the sadness, and the frustration get through us, the sooner we'll heal. The best way to heal is to feel.
This week, I'm joined by the wonderful Martika Whylly, fellow podcaster, Grief Counselor, Speaker, and Author of "Having Fun with God: A book report for Miss. Winfrey." Martika's story is a beautiful example of growth, resilience, and wisdom. After writing her book, the path to helping others achieve emotional healing became clear for Martika. Since then, she has helped hundreds of people grieve with ease and develop a deeper awareness of the grieving process.
Throughout our conversation, you'll hear about Martika's journey, what inspired her to write the book, and how she handled the grief after the tragic loss of her mother. She also shared her thoughts on healing, achieving peace of mind in grief, gratitude, and the importance of allowing ourselves to just feel.
Listen to episode 154 of Grief and Happiness, and let Martika teach you how to grieve with ease, heal, and transcend into peace of mind.

We live in a time where, for whatever reason, grief is still seen as a very abstract thing, even though it's super concrete. It's super real. It's tangible. It's palatable; you can feel its presence.
In today's episode, I'm joined by The Grief Gal, Rachel Tenpenny. She is a Grief Expert, Life-after-loss Coach, Emotional Well-being Specialist, and the co-founder of Teamotions, teas for emotional well-being. Rachel's grief story is as heartbreaking as inspiring; nevertheless, she turned the emotional damage of her massive loss over 15 years ago into a passion for helping others heal, regain hope, joy, and happiness.
During our conversation full of hope, Rachel talks about how she transformed her pain into tangible healing tools for others, why treating grief as an abstract thing is a mistake, and why we should cultivate grief just as we cultivate fitness. We also discuss the harmful effects of unresolved grief, the need for practical and actionable items for grievers to mitigate grief, and the importance of caring for grievers instead of trying to understand them.
Additionally, we talk about Teamotions' birth, the importance of paying attention to emotions' whole spectrum, the dangers of grievers' vulnerability, and more.
Listen to episode 152 of Grief and Happiness, grab a cup of tea, and discover why Rachel's so positive that healing is not a matter of fate or luck but a choice.

Everyone deals with trauma differently. Two kids living in the same household, raised by the same parents, in the same loving environment will develop different reactions to the same setback. In any case, having someone to sit down and share fears and concerns is crucial.
Developing a system to process the difficulties life makes us go through is essential; otherwise, that trauma will come back in different forms and haunt us.
In this episode, I'm joined by the inspiring Dana Neiger, CHRO, Co-founder and Entrepreneur, Author, and Speaker. Despite her short age, Dana endured a lot of trauma and suffered massive losses. She lost her parents in her 20s and her brother 10 years later. Many years and several hours of therapy later, she married, formed a gorgeous family, and got the closest she could to her version of a happy life.
We had a fantastic conversation about relying on therapy for healing trauma, writing as a trauma-processing mechanism, and the importance of developing supportive relationships. We also discuss Dana's grieving process, the void we feel when the closest people don't say anything about our loss, and why self-care is crucial in grief.
Additionally, we talk about Dana's book, "Before I Knew It, They Were Gone," what inspired her to write it, the transformation she made thanks to therapy, and so much more.
Listen to episode 150 of Grief and Happiness, and learn about the advantages of finding someone to talk to about what goes through your grieving head.

How wild is it to think about a bright and happy future when you've just become a widow?
In today's episode, I'm joined by the wonderful Jen Zwinck, fellow podcaster, Host of the Widow 180 podcast, and creator of The Widow Squad, an online community focused on helping widows worldwide feel "normal" again. After losing her husband in 2011, Jen went through a dark path where looking at the future was utterly frightening. Time, a supportive community, her relentless resilience, and living for giving helped her stand back on her feet, find happiness while grieving, and reencounter joy.
Throughout our conversation, Jen talks about the night that changed her life forever, how tough it was to plan a funeral while playing puzzles with her, at the time, two years old daughter, and her first years as a widow. We also talk about Jen's community, The Widow Squad, and how they support widows in their grieving journey.
Additionally, we talk about finding happiness in grief, the importance for widows to lose the fear of the future, paying attention to the signs, and much more.

Do you see happiness as a serious goal? Do you have it in your list of goals for this year?
In this episode together, I'm excited to be joined by the inspiring Kristina Mänd-Lakhiani, mother, entrepreneur, author, and everyday-life philosopher. Throughout this episode, Kristina talks about her journey into personal transformation and what led her to focus a big part of her work on happiness. You'll hear about Kristina's interactions with the Dalai Lama, her unique views on happiness as a state, not a feeling, why most people refuse to set happiness as a responsible goal, and why embracing our flaws and self-love are crucial to achieving happiness.
Additionally, we discuss the mistaken idea of seeing suffering as an indispensable requirement for achieving happiness; Kristina talks about the concept that inspired her latest book, "Flawesome," and much more.
