One of the ways that we are able to monetize social media is through having a certain amount of following or subscribers depending on what platform you decide to choose.
Facebook still requires 10,000 followers and 30,000 one minute views to name only a couple of requirements.
Youtube requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch time hours to monetize on that platform.. there is an additional incentive that allows you to only have 500 subscribers. But, it's not to receive ad revenue...
All of this is mentioned so that you can be somewhat calculated in you approach.
It is understood that you should want to serve people using the content that you create. It's not about you. It's more about the people receiving what you have the way that you give it. If you are going to take that route getting paid for it is an option. But, you have to meet those requirements.
Growing your audience and keeping their attention is only apart of that process.
