For the Spanish, football is almost a religion. I don't know if we are at the same level as the Argentinians or the Brazilians, but we are close.
This summer we were crowned world champions - in the feminine, because I'm talking about the
Women's World Cup.Women's football is not followed as closely as men's football, but this was a special occasion. Spain weren't the favourites and
no broadcaster wanted to show the Women's World Cup. They thought there wouldn't be enough viewers.
In the end it was RTVE (not because they wanted to, but because it is public television and they have no other option). The fact is that the audience soared, Spain started winning and reached the final. The whole country was with the players and
in the end the audience was over 6 million. And we won. And it was incredible.
But
the celebrations and the players' achievements were overshadowed by something that happened at the end of the game that was very controversial and very sad, especially for the players.
Do you want to know what happened?
I'll tell you in this new episode of the podcast.
