"Being bored creates a space that allows creativity, free play and use of imagination."
Lori is the founder of Stress Free Kids. She has authored many children's books meant to teach children techniques and tools to manage stress, big emotions and self-esteem. I saw her newest book in the Scholastic book order just today - it's called Stay Cool at School. Lori's tips have been featured in hundreds of media outlets including CBS News, CNN Living, WebMD and Family Circle Magazine.
We talk about tools you can bring into your own home, how your stress impacts your child. We go over reducing the brain chatter in your child's head, what to do when your child wants to stay mad and Lori even walks us through some deep breathing.

"Grief is never going to go away. It just comes in waves. It has no limits."
Stacey Skrysak is a news anchor in Central Illinois, but she says her favorite title is Mom. She is the mother of a miracle triplet and two angels. We'll talk a lot about her experience with infertility, to then finding out she was expecting triplets - to the lowest low - losing two of those sweet babies after their births.
Stacey's story has appeared on the Today Show, UpWorthy, Huffington Post, people.com, ABC News and Redbook.
Stacey talks about delivering her triplets at 22 weeks gestation and losing two of those babies. We'll talk about how she is able to honor her lost children while celebrating her surviving miracle girl.
We talk about what Stacey has learned about grief and how to accept the moments of joy as she simultaneously feels that grief.
And something that's hard for a lot of us - how to talk to people who have lost someone - specifically a child.

"It made me feel worthy. It made me feel strong. It made me feel like I am supposed to be here and I can help other people."
You may recognize Hayden Ryals from a viral story over the summer. She is the woman who first donated her bone marrow to save a 1-year-old with leukemia - and then, years later, invited her to be the flower girl at her wedding.
You likely saw Hayden and little Skye's story online - or on Good Morning America, People Magazine, CNN or one of the many other news organizations.
In part one of this episode series - you heard from Skye Savren-McCormick's parents about fighting cancer and how Hayden literally saved Skye's life.
Now you'll hear from Hayden who says Skye saved her life. We talk about how her bone marrow donation led her to find clarity, eased her anxiety and depression and gave her a new world view.
Of course, we also talk about giving bone marrow.
AND as we kick of Childhood Cancer Awareness month, 18-44 year olds can also get in the bone marrow registry.
I'm so excited to be working with the Mail Tribune to hold a Bone Marrow Registry Drive.
If you are a southern Oregon listener - come out and get your cheek swabbed to be put in the registry.
Tuesday, September 18th 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Mail Tribune Offices 111 N. Fir St., Medford
If you are not a local listener and would like a kit sent to your home - you register here.
You may have seen Skye Savren-McCormick's story on People Magazine, The Washington Post, Good Morning America, CBS news and many more.
Skye played a big role in a wedding as the flower girl, but only after the bride saved Skye's life with a bone marrow transplant.
Skye has spent the majority of her young life fighting cancer. She has had three bone marrow transplants - two of which came from Hayden Ryals.
Hayden asked Skye to be in her wedding as the flower girl.
Hayden was very literally Skye's hero, but Hayden says the same about Skye.
In this episode you'll hear from Skye's parents. Next week you'll hear from Hayden.
In this episode we talk about living in a tiny hospital room, the importance of taking even just five minutes for self care, following mom gut - even when that means you're standing up to medical experts — and the worst day of their lives - hearing their daughter only had 10% chance of survival.
As we kick of Childhood Cancer Awareness month, 18-44 year olds can also get in the bone marrow registry. It is just a cotton swab to the inner cheek. If you are a southern Oregon listener: Tuesday, September 18th 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Mail Tribune Offices 111 N. Fir St., Medford

"If you wouldn't let a boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse talk to you in that way - stop talking to yourself in that way."
What are you saying to yourself that is absolutely unacceptable? Have you said, "I'm not good enough," "I'm fat," "I'm worthless" or "I can't do it?"
In this episode, Danielle talks about negative self-talk - how it impacts us and five steps to change your thoughts.

"We need our kids to actually solve those problems of life and to deal with the things that need to happen as opposed to always turning to us and expecting us to reward them."
Today you'll hear from Katherine Reynolds Lewis, the author of the new book, "The Good News About Bad Behavior: Why Kids are Less Disciplined than Ever - and What To Do About It."
She's appeared on several publications including CNN, NPR and The New York Times and The Washington Post Magazine.

"The worst thing is to get fired by yourself. That's you giving up, you're not going to work today."
What I've noticed as an outsider is some people thrive in Multi-level marketing sales and others fizzle out within a few months.
I wanted to talk to a successful MLM salesperson about how to get the numbers you want. A lot of her tips will help you if you're a business owner, a blogger, podcaster - anyone who needs to be self-motivated.
Jacqueline Thomas started in direct sales three years ago and quickly became a team leader.
We talk about staying motivated, building self-confidence, what separates people who are successful and not in this massive industry -- and if you can be successful if you have a dozen friends selling the same product.
