Each Happy Hobby Sports Card Newsletter For Collectors has a handful of great sports card subjects, helping sports card collectors working with limited budgets!
Many of the baseball card collectors on our YouTube channel and in our newsletter chat are among the group I call, “The Renewed Collectors.” We were all former card collectors when we were kids in the ‘70, ‘80s and ‘90s, then we stopped for a decade or two, and now we’re picking it back up because it brings us back fond memories!
Scott Hedrick, one of our favorite Happy Hobbyists, loves to buy old wax packs and boxes off of sites like BBCExchange.com and DACardWorld.com.
For collectors looking to dip their toes into the wax pack pool, Scott shared six great tips on buying wax packs and boxes that should improve your chances on getting good cards without spending too much money.
We also share another awesome sports card trivia question, in which you could win a free baseball card, and Patrick Imhoff gives us another suggestion we hope Fanatics will listen to in 2026.
Finally, I look back almost 70 years at one of the coolest rookie cards in history, from 1948 Leaf, with our “Cards That Make Us Happy,” section.

Nearly 50 years ago, Topps celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Major League Baseball by producing one of the coolest base card subsets in baseball card history: 1976 Topps All-Time All-Stars!
They named the best player from every position, creating an All-Star team we’d all love to see take the field at once.
While it would have been awesome to see both an American and National League listed, just so we could argue about who would win, it was still great to see all these superstar legends!
From Babe Ruth to Ty Cobb, from Honus Wagner to Ted Williams, from Walter Johnson to Lou Gehrig, this was a subset for the ages!
We also share another great baseball card trivia question, for those looking to win a great card!
And Patrick Imhoff shares two suggestions for Fanatics, with his “If I Became CEO of Fanatics” bullet list!

One of our favorite Happy Hobbyists, Patrick Imhoff, joins the podcast to talk about which players he’s trying to collect in the new 2024 Bowman Draft product that came out this month, full of 2024 MLB Draftees!
Obviously, there are the superstars to collect, like No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana and Chase Burns, but Imhoff shares a few other great players to chase!
We also discuss some of Bowman’s background as a product, and how they’ve come to shape prospect-hunting in the baseball card world!

I’ve been collecting baseball cards and other sports cards since I was a little kid, about 50 years now, but my wife Shelby and I have only been married for just over 5 years!
I thought it would be a fun exercise to talk to Mrs. Happy Hobby to see just what card-collecting information has leaked into her unsuspecting brain!
We also talk about how card collecting has affected us as a couple, and we share some tips on how to keep everyone in the marriage happy, when someone has a collecting obsession love.
Here are some of the topics we covered:
* Love languages… No, seriously. Haha, we talked about how this can help someone deal with someone else’s hobbies!
* How do you buy a gift for a card collector?
* Who’s on the Mt. Rushmore of Topps vintage baseball cards?
* What does “RP” mean in an eBay listing?
* What’s the difference between a retail and a hobby box?
* What’s a blaster?
* Can you name any of the top rookies from this year’s rookie card class?
* What are the four criteria grading companies use when determining a card’s grade?
* What is junk wax?
* What is a “Collector’s Grade”?
* What’s the most graded sports card ever?
* Who is the most graded athlete ever?
* What are the things you hate most about me being a sports card collector?
* How can I help you not hate my hobby?
We ended up talking about a lot of stuff, and it was one of the most fun podcasts I’ve ever done, for sure.

I also share another baseball card trivia question, in case you want to win yourself a free 1979 Topps Willie Stargell baseball card!
Patrick Imhoff shares another smart nugget about what he would change if he became CEO of Fanatics in 2026, when they unify all three sports card licenses.
And finally, we look at another one of those “Cards That Makes Us Happy!” This time, it’s from a card from not too long ago — the 2016 Topps Mike Trout card!

In this fun-filled, grumpy cat podcast, we list out all the things that turn our “Happy Hobby” into an annoyed and angry hobby!
Really, though, we’re big fans of being nice in the hobby and not grumbling about others in the card-collecting world. But no matter how hard we try, we sometimes just want to yell at somebody when they do any of these 11 things!
Patrick Imhoff also chimes in with another awesome thing he’d do differently if he became CEO of Fanatics!
I share another great baseball trivia question, where I offer up an awesome 1970 Topps Jim Palmer card!
Finally, we look back at the year 2005, and we share what the best rookie cards from each sport that season were!

In this episode, we have Scott Hedrick, one of our Happy Hobbyist guest writers, share his tales about how to lean on nostalgia for most of your hobby happiness!
This guy rips junk wax packs every single weekend — and has an awesome time doing it, chasing (and finding!) some of our favorite cards we all loved as kids!
We also ask Patrick Imhoff to share another nugget on what he would do differently if he became the CEO of Fanatics! This one’s a great one, as he talks about how he would connect with the younger market.
Finally, I share another great sports card trivia question — actually, I share two, since one already got answered!

Card collecting can be competitive in many cases, even though it’s just a great community overall. We like it when our friends get good cards, and they’re happy for us! But when it comes to winning a card on eBay, it’s every collector for themselves! Our buddy Josh Scarberry from MJ Family Time Cards YouTube channel came up with five pretty awesome ways to use “Saved Searches” on eBay to help you win the pretty awesome cards you want to win!
We also bring back Patrick Imhoff to share another thing he would do if he became the CEO over at Fanatics before they get the MLB, NBA and NFL card licenses in 2026.
We deliver another tough sports card trivia question, hoping to give away a 1976 Topps Reggie Jackson card we picked up at a sports card store in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Finally, we share the best rookie cards in the baseball, basketball and football card world from the year 1970!
