This Sunday we will consider the book of Judges which remembers how difficult it was for the people of God to remain faithful dwelling among the Canaanites in the land.

Sadly, the nation’s lack of trust in the LORD and His promises leads to a difficult 40 years of ups and downs in the desert until once again, they stand at the edge of God’s Covenant Blessing. Wasted Time? Punishment? OR has this been a season of testing for the purpose of transformation as they prepare for transition?

This Sunday we continue our sermon series through the grand narrative of scripture using "The Story" in which we will view the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus. This week we wrap up this movement in the Story we are calling the Rescue. One that began in Egypt, took them to Mount Sinai for a year and then a 40-year journey through the desert to the edge of the Promised Land. On Sunday we will consider what we might glean from Israel's Wilderness failures as we continue moving forward into God's good future.

God rescued His people from Egypt and while in the wilderness sought to get “Egypt” out of them. The question that now lies before them as they get ready to enter the promised land is, will they stay focused on God as they step into His future for them or will they get caught up by some other story whether that is an idealized version of the past or some tempting new story they have yet to experience?
