This Sunday we continue our 4-week mini-series in Fusion we are calling "Elijah, Elisha, Jesus." This week we turn our attention to Elijah's successor, Elisha. We will consider some of Elisha's encounters in 2 Kings 4 focusing on the first story where a widow and her two sons are provided for in a miraculous way. Through these encounters we will consider what scriptures testify to about how we live together in community.

This Sunday we continue our 4-week mini-series in Fusion we are calling "Elijah, Elisha, Jesus." We continue to look at the lives of Elijah and Elisha through the lens of Jesus and allow God to speak into our context today. We pick up Elijah's story where we left off last week as we read from 1 Kings 19 where Yahweh meets a desperate prophet, Elijah on Mount Horeb in the quiet. What a helpful word for us living in the noisy, busy and distracted world of 2021.

Centuries ago, The Heidelberg Catechism Q #51 summarized the Bible’s teaching by saying that Christ, through the Holy Spirit, “pours out heavenly gifts upon us, His members.” What would it mean for us at Celebration to think of ourselves as “the Body of Christ” (Different than the “Consumer’s Club of Christ”) living, loving, and serving in His Mission empowered by a deluge of heavenly gifts from Him?

This Sunday we begin a new 4-week mini-series in Fusion we are calling "Elijah, Elisha, Jesus." We will consider the lives of Elijah and Elisha through the lens of Jesus and allow God to speak into our context of a worshiping community in Holland, MI in 2021. This Sunday we will read from 1 Kings 18 where the worship of Yahweh stands in stark contrast to the worship of Baal and consider how this story and the life of Jesus might speak into our own worship of the LORD.

For all of us, a big part of the answer to that question is: “My experiences and my preferences.” But what would we see if we tried to step out of our own experiences – good or bad! – and our own personal preferences, and instead, begin by asking: “What does God intend for His Church to be?” Would you believe that the answer to that question includes an invitation to “Join the Joy?”
