    Here's our list for Utah:
    1. Hit up Capitol Reef National Park for some secluded hiking and make sure to stop for a famous cinnamon rolls or pie from the Gifford Homestead. There’s options for both day hiking, or backcountry hiking. Capitol Reef offers many hiking options for serious backpackers and those who enjoy exploring remote areas. Marked hiking routes lead into narrow, twisting gorges, slot canyons, and to spectacular viewpoints high atop the Waterpocket Fold. Popular backcountry hikes in the southern section of the park include Upper and Lower Muley Twist Canyons and Halls Creek.
    2. Take a 4x4 trip through 50 miles of challenging backcountry roads lead to campsites, trailheads, and many natural and cultural features in Canyonlands National Park. Alternatively, there are tons of roads around Moab that you can go driving on through BLM lands. Some of the top trails include Hell’s Revenge, Shafer Trail, Klondike Bluffs, Chicken Corners and More.
    Bears Ears National Monument...or whatever it is becoming now.
    3. Choose one of the 3 at Zion...they have 3 of my top 10 day hikes in the country. Observation Point, Angels Landing, The Narrows.
    4. Goblin Valley State Park.
    5. Dinosaur National Monument.

    1. Visit Caddo Lake State Park: Caddo Lake is like stepping into a time machine and visiting a period in ancient history. Situated on the border of Texas and Louisiana, it offers a unique canoeing experience like no other. With cypress trees and often mossy waters, it's a sought after place in the world of canoe aficionados. Rentals are available overnight and some of the campsites even have private access straight to the lake
    2. Visit Colorado Bend State Park: Located in Colorado Bend State Park about 2 hours northwest of Austin, TX, Gorman Falls is not something you would expect to see in the dreadfully hot and humid South. The lush green falls are created by moss and maidenhair ferns that are constantly soaked by the spring fed waters falling from above.
    3. Big Thicket National Preserve: Located a few hours from Houston, It is a highly biodiverse area that has been described as "America's Ark" and the "Biological Crossroads of North America". The park offers 40 miles of hiking trails, camping, canoeing, kayaking, and plentiful bird-watching.
    4. Big Bend National Park! Where do I begin? Treks to 8,000 feet, black bears, trail runs in canyons, walk across the border to Mexico and explore a small town. Emory Peak, Santa Elena Canyon, Lost Mine Trail. One of the best parks around! Swing by Marathon Texas along the way.
    5. Hike to the top of Texas at Guadalupe Peak in Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
    6. Take in a SUP or kayaking tour of the weirdest city in America, Austin Texas!

    1. Head into Smoky Mountain National Park and take a hike on the Appalachian Trail to the stone outcrop called Charlies Bunion. ... It's a 4-mile moderate hike (8 miles roundtrip) from Newfound Gap on the North Carolina/Tennessee state line, hiking north away from Clingman's Dome. While you climb more than 1,600 feet in elevation, it's a gradual gain.
    2. Visit Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville! There is over 315 acres of protected land near Knoxville. There’s 12 miles of trails, a rock climbing area, and you can do swimming, kayaking or canoeing in Mead’s Quarry Lake.
    3. South Cumberland State Park: South Cumberland State Park, just outside of Chattanooga, offers more than ninety miles of backpacking with 12 campgrounds. Be sure to check out the popular Fiery Gizzard, a 12.5-mile one-way trail. This trail provides plenty of scenic lookouts and waterfalls.
    4. Take in a cave tour and concert via Bluegrass Underground at the Cumberland Caverns in Pellham TN
    5. Hike up to the famous Cumberland Gap Mountain Pass inside of the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
    6. Go wildflower and bird watching. Birding, river islands, wildflowers, what’s not to like? This recent addition to Tennessee’s state park system covers over 400 acres along the French Broad River in Knox County. Escape the crowds and enjoy the solitude via bike, trail, or boat. Be sure to bring binoculars to view some of the area’s impressive species of birds.

    1. Go Caving: Wind Cave National Park near Hot Springs and Jewel Cave National Monument near Custer in the Black Hills are two of the longest caves in the world at 140 miles and 180 miles (and counting), respectively. Get yourself underground and take a guided rock tour. Each cave offers unique formations, including boxwork at Wind Cave and the beautiful crystals in Jewel Cave. If you are truly daring (and not claustrophobic) opt for the challenging Wild Caving Tours that give an adventurous and real caving experience.
    2. Paddle the Missouri River: The Missouri River divides the state into two regions, affectionately known as 'west river' and 'east river.' There’s a lot of fun to be had on a river adventure and you’ll find a nice mix of free-flowing current and reservoirs you can paddle through. Great for day trips and camping, you can stay on the river all day or stop for a hike, go fishing or just enjoy a historic journey as you paddle near the lands of five Native American tribes.
    3. RIDE THE MICKELSON TRAIL FROM DEADWOOD TO EDGEMONT
    The 109-mile George S. Mickelson Trail, which was once a railroad bed, meanders through South Dakota's Black Hills National Forest. Today, cyclists, runners, snowshoers and, in some areas, snowmobilers all share the trail. The surface is mostly packed gravel and the trail itself is relatively flat for most of the way, which makes it a great spot for families and people of all abilities. Side note – you get major South Dakota bragging rights if you bike the entire trail in one day.
    4. HIKE BLACK ELK PEAK At 7,242 feet, Black Elk Peak (formerly known as Harney Peak) is the highest point east of the Rockies in the United States. Nestled in the Black Hills National Forest, this peak boasts 100-mile views from its summit – be sure to check out the unforgettable views from the old stone fire tower. There are a variety of trails that will bring you to the top, most in the range of 6-8 miles round trip.

    1. THE FAIRYTALE-ESQUE ANGEL OAK TREE in Charleston, SC, is thought to be one of the oldest living oak trees east of the Mississippi River. It stands 65 feet (20m or 6 stories) tall, is 28 ft (8.5 m) in circumference, and an area of 17,000 square feet is shaded by its tentacular crown. The largest branch reaches 187 feet.
    2. Visit Ceaser Head State Park: An overlook is steps from the main parking lot at Caesars Head State Park, making the initial payoff virtually effortless. But dive deeper into the network of trails and you'll find the best of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area: choose between suspension bridges, waterfalls, and epic granite views.
    3. Visit Devil’s Fork State Park: Devils Fork State Park provides the only public access to Lake Jocassee, a largely undeveloped 7,500-acre reservoir tucked deep into the Blue Ridge. There’s an uncrowded setting and spectacular scenery, such as waterfalls cascading into the lake off steep, wooded slopes.
    4. Congaree National Park kayaking and camping trip.
    5. Fort Sumter walking tour. First shot of the Civil War.
    6. Run the Charleston Marathon. One of the coolest cities to stroll around so seeing it from this angle might be fun.

    Here's our list for Rhode Island:
    1. New England is the best place to see the foliage, especially in Rhode Island. Take a drive through the Blackstone Valley from Pawtucket to Smithfield and Woonsocket. Or down Route 1 in Westerly in the Southern Part of the State. If you prefer hiking, you could walk through the wooded areas of Roger Williams State Park in Providence or Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick.
    2. Visit Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge and take a beach hike. The Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge Trail is a 2.4 mile trail is an easy seaside hike.
    3. Visit Lincoln Woods State Park: Located just north of Providence, this state park provides hiking, horseback riding and swimming at a fresh water beach.
    4. Ride the East Bay Bike Path: This 14.5 scenic paved bicycle trail runs from Providence to Bristol. The flat pathway makes for easy peddling and there are plenty of spots along the way to slow down and take in the incredible views.
    5. Go seal watching! In North Kingston, spend an afternoon at the John H. Chafee Nature Preserve. A two-mile loop trail will take you out to Rome Point where from October to April you can chance upon seals hanging out on the rocks. The rest of the year, the trail is an enjoyable hike with lots of scenery.
    6. Fort Wetherill. Check out the ruins of this abandoned military fort in Jamestown. Fort Wetherill is a 61-acre recreation area that also offers kayaking, scuba diving, swimming at the beach, or just random exploring.

    1. Three Rivers Heritage Trail: The Three Rivers Heritage Trail is a multi‑use riverfront trail system in the Pittsburgh region. This 24‑mile nonlinear trail has segments on both banks of Pittsburgh’s three rivers with access to city neighborhoods, business districts, and local attractions. You can even take it onto the Great Allegheny Trail which will take you all the way to Washington, D.C.!
    2. Ohiopyle State Park: White-water (and any water) enthusiasts adore Ohiopyle, because thanks to the Youghiogheny River, it has the best rafting in the eastern United States and is scattered with impressive waterfalls and challenging hiking trails. The rapid flow of the river has also swept some unique plants into the park, which means botanists can find unusual surprises all through the Ferncliff Peninsula, which was named a National Natural Landmark in the 1970s.
    3. Take a trip to Philadelphia which is rich with history: on display at the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall (where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed) and other American Revolutionary sites.
    4. Maybe this time you should actually go visit Gettysburg?!
    5. Backpacking the Poconos: Thunder Swamp Trail - A 30 mile loop trail with 15 miles of side trails and is located in Delaware State Forest. A scenic woodland trail that ranges from easy to moderate. Pinchot Trail - A 23 mile loop trail in the Pinchot State Forest. A scenic hike with some challenging sections
    6. Pine Creek Rail Trail in the PA Grand Canyon. Part of the Tioga State Forest & located near Wellsboro PA you can bike, hike, raft, wagon ride, and wine your way through this region!

    4. Columbia River Gorge: This canyon of the Columbia River stretches over 80 miles and forms the boundary between Oregon and Washington. The amount of precipitation and wide range of elevation creates a diverse ecosystem with a ton of different plant and animal species. Some of the best hikes to countless waterfalls are found in the Gorge. And waterfalls!!
    5. Trilium Lake: You can kayak on the calm waters and sunsets at Trillium definitely won’t disappoint. With Mt. Hood reflecting on the water, it sets the perfect scene and is one of the most photogenic lakes in Oregon.
    6. Hood to Coast Relay: HTC is also known as the "Mother Of All Relays" and is the world's largest relay race with 12,000 runners and 3,500 volunteers! The race starts atop Mt. Hood and runs 197 miles to the Pacific Ocean in Seaside, Oregon.

    Here's our list for Oklahoma:
    1. Rock-hop your way from one boulder to another along Charon’s Garden Trail, located within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in scenic southwest Oklahoma. This tucked-away trail offers intermediate to advanced hikers interesting geographic features such as unique rock formations, winding creeks and gorges. Wind along this 2.4 mile path for hiking and boulder hopping amidst huge granite boulders for a heart-pumping good time and sweeping valley views.
    2. What better reward for a strenuous hike than to look out over a breathtaking landscape as it unfolds below? Hike to the highest point in the state at Black Mesa State Park & Nature Preserve and view where the Rocky Mountains meet shortgrass prairie from 4,973 feet above sea level. Allow time for the 16-mile round trip hike, which features distinct elevation changes and stunning views, and make sure to bring plenty of water.
    3. Those who tire of exploring the natural world on dry land can dip into the exciting waters of Lake Tenkiller to find a whole new place to discover. Dive 80-feet under the lake’s crystal clear water to find rocky cliffs, as well as sunken planes, boats and vehicles. Access to the diving area can be found at Fisherman’s Point within Tenkiller State Park.
    4. Explore the Lower Fork River Beaver’s Bend State Park: The Lower Mountain Fork River runs through the south end of Beaver’s Bend State Park located near the beautiful Broken Bow Lake. The winding river flows under towering cliffs and near gorgeous cypress trees. Beaver’s Bend also puts on a spectacular fall foliage show during the first few weeks of November. There are so many different adventures for visitors here like hiking, camping, canoeing, or trout fishing, so there’s an option for everyone!
    5. Visit Robber’s Cave State Park: In the scenic, hilly woodlands of the Sans Bois Mountains of southeast Oklahoma, Robbers Cave State Park is a favorite of rappellers, equestrians, hikers and outdoor lovers. The park and adjoining wildlife management area offer acres of discovery and enjoyment including seasonal trout fishing and hunting, miles of hiking and equestrian trails, rugged cliffs for climbing and stunning fall foliage viewing. Once a former hideout for outlaws Jesse James and Belle Starr, Robbers Cave State Park is an 8,246-acre park with 189 combined lake acres with Lake Carlton, Lake Wayne Wallace and Coon Creek. It is named for the famous outlaw cave hidden in the formation of 300 to 1,500-ft sandstone hills and cliffs.
    6. Visit the Shattuck Windmill Museum: More than 50 windmills, as well as a wind generator, cluster on the outdoor museum’s four acres, from the towering 18-foot Samson to the petite five-foot-tall Star Zephyr. They date from the 1850s to 1950s and range from those built entirely from wood to those of steel.

    1. Ride in GOBA, TOSRV, or run the Columbus Marathon, Flying Pig, or the Buck Fifty! Too many cool race options to single one out!
    2. Rails to Trails the only trail made for runners, bikers, and horse carriages in Amish Country.
    3. John Bryan State Park. (Don’t forget to stop at Yellow Springs Brewery and try and spot Dave Chapelle!)
    4. Take a bike ride on the Hock Hocking Adena Bike Trail! Hockhocking,” which means “bottleneck” or “twisted,” was the native Shawnee name for the Hocking River; “Adena” reflects the history of the Adena Indians who lived in the Hocking Valley more than 2,000 years ago. Start off in Athens, near OU for a 21-mile ride up to Nelsonville! You can stop at a few breweries along the way, both Jackie’Os and Little Fish are along the path.
    5. Take an overnight backpacking trip in Wayne National Forest: Wildcat Hollow is an easy 17-mile trip that can be done in 2 days; they also have a 5-mile loop for day hikes. Further south near Ironton is the Lake Vesuvius 16-mile backpacking trail.
    6. How can we talk about Ohio and NOT talk about Hocking Hills!? This is the most visited state park and it has tons of hiking, lake opportunities, and cabins and camping galore in the area.
