Here you go our take on the new Netflix doc the Social Dilemma.  In the Social Dilemma a bunch of tech people try to tell us that they have created the biggest existential threat to humanity ever. And if we don't change, society will fall, there will be civil war, no more democracy, no more Tastykakes, etc.  The only way for us to fix this is by listening to them some more. UGH.  Dan and Tony don't buy this and we spend 85 minutes talking about it.  They could go do something but social media has taught them that the only way to deal with a problem is by making a video that complains about that problem! On second thought maybe social media is the problem???????

Uwe Boll made this film so you should blame him for how terrible it is.  Christian Slater started out as a promising young actor.  Wow that went terrible wrong and now he is in stinkers like this.  We try to sort out this mess of a movie that all smart people have done their best to avoid.

Video games.  I used to play them.  I'd become Super Mario and run through mazes, get super powers and even ride around in a boot.  I don't play them any more.  I'm an adult.  I do the dishes.  I wash the car.  Actually I don't.  My wife does that.  So I can stay at home and be a shut in.  She's actually the adult.  I'm the kid.  I just don't play video games. I brood. And wait. And I watch. And I plan. Actually I just play a lot of solitaire on my phone. I need to grow up.

Well we watched Troll 2.  Troll 2 is a low budget horror adjacent movie.  It's terrible.  Everyone knows it's terrible so we here at Hate Watching with Dan and Tony wanted to experience it.  And we did.  And this movie is just as bad and fun as everyone said.

Movies are the national pastime.  I know you are saying that baseball is the national pastime.  It used to be.  Maybe back in the 1850's.  Now people want real entertainment.  Things blowing up, CGI, dinosaurs, a dog that can walk backwards up the stairs.  Baseball can't give us that.  Only movies can give us that.  Well all that stuff except that dog that walks backwards up the stairs.  Only youTube can give us that.  So I guess youTube is the national pastime.  I guess.

The Jason Bourne movies are filled with action, they have an interesting premise and great casts.  Abduction (2011) is a lackluster attempt to take Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame(?) and make him into aJason Bourne type action star.  It does not work and it pretty nearly killed his career. He's still cute and adorable and lovable but boy he cannot act.

In this episode we talk about the Love Guru, Mike Myers' (not Michael Myers from the Halloween movies) movie that pretty much killed his career. Dan being the dope that he is says that Mariska Hargitay is Jane Russell's daughter and not Jane Mansfield who is actually her mother.  Tony on the other hand goes into an extensive explanation about how he deconstructs movie kissing scenes (it's really weird). So those two little things should be enough to compel you to watch all one hour and twenty eight minutes of our blathering.

I'm sitting here thinking about childhood. As a kid all things are new, each movie is a discovery, each comic book is a new place to imagine.  As an adult that all dies. Everything is a retread or boring or badly handled.  We slog from movie to movie, show to show trying to recapture that youth.  But it is gone. Where can we find hope? In nostalgia? Sometimes. In creation of our own? Yes.  That is the place.  Go. Make. Do. Then come back and consume with fresh eyes. Happy eyes. Or don't.

No Holds Barred is the first and thankfully not the las Hollywood Hulk Hogan led movie.  It is a bad movie but in a fun way.  That does not stop us from picking it apart as hard as we can. Dan obsesses over a dog in a bathroom while Tony fixates on how creepy Hulk is towards the female lead (and he is very creepy).  So get ready for another 90 minutes of the boys and their endless opinions.

Stealth is a movie.  It's a movie both Tony and DanI watched.  Tony really liked the line "That is shit hot."  Dan found that line to be sophomoric and juvenile.  Dan finds Tony to be both sophomoric and juvenile. We used to play D&D and had to fight a lot of hobgoblins. What did those hobgoblins do to us? Probably nothing but we still went into their dungeons and killed them and took their treasure.  Parents, maybe think about what D&D is teaching your children.

In this episode of Hate Watching with Dan and Tony, we ventured in to the distant future, the 2293 to be exact.  Tony found it hard to believe that humans had lost their sex drive in only 200 years (they said they lost it but really they didn't).  Dan was amazed that in the future they had SPACE OVENS to cook their bread, he is hoping that he can buy one at the Sharper Image.
