Hey there Heal Sh* family!
This week's episode is the third installment on our parenting series and this week, we take a multigenerational look at step parents. To help you see this conversation from different perspectives, we explore what having a step parent is like for children conversation and discuss the different feelings and emotions children experience and then we take another look at the situation from the lens of a step parent and what they may be experiencing. As a support for these statements, Tiffany leverages her experiences both as a child and then as an adult who remarried and raised her own children with their step father.
We recognize this episode may be triggering for some.
The point of this conversation is to start a healthy dialogue around everyone's feelings and encourage you to begin doing the work to mend the challenges we face as people navigating blended relationships.
After you listen to the episode, we'd love to hear your thoughts! You can email [email protected] or you can DM Heal Sh*t podcast on IG by clicking the following link: https://www.instagram.com/healshitpodcast/

This episode may be triggering so we wanted to remind you to observe your feelings as you listen.
On this episode of Heal Sh*t podcast, Tiffany and Lo have a transparent conversation about being teen girls and being raised by single moms. We talk about the tension that sometimes exists between mothers and daughters and how that tension taught us lessons in love, grace and compassion. We highlight points in our teen years (while in high school) where we were especially unkind and how we recognized the need to be better.
This episode might feel heavy but we hope you are able to listen to it with love, understand the message and see ways in which you can either navigate your relationship with your daughter differently or even go back and give your mother the grace you did not give her for making mistakes as a present parent.

Today's episode is the first installment of the new series on parent-child relationships for Season 2- Healing My High School Self.
In this episode, Tiffany chats with Jen about the impact of having a semi-present/absent parent and what that experience felt like for her as a teenage girl. She unpacks a little bit about the daddy issues she had early on and how they were able to heal a lot of that and build a beautiful father-daughter relationship.
Although Tiffany's story may sound unique, research shows just under 50% of Black children under the age of 18 are being raised by a single mother in the U.S. This can sometimes lead to a lack in available financial resources, less quality time and care as well as future risk for socioeconomic losses/instability. Not to mention the social and emotional impact having one parent can have on children and how this might cause children to show up in different areas of their lives. This is part of the reason we've chosen to shed light on the situation.
